Sometime could you do short a video showing all of your switch assignments, and your logic behind your choices. Thanks! Love the videos.
Already showed the setup vid which covers that!
czcams.com/video/vgr_EmVDf_8/video.html
Setup is around the half-way mark. Should be in a chapter on the vid timeline.
Glad I found this video. I will use rudder toe on my f18 from now on. A little tip for you though. All you have to do in your transmitter is create a logical switch with gear and flaps. Make it so the logical switch is on with gear down and takeoff flaps and off for everything else. Link that to your rudder toe mix and you won’t have to remember to hit the rudder toe switch every time.
Logical switches didn't exist on the IX20 when this was shot, but thanks!
@@TwoBrosRC oh wow I didn’t know this. Just got the ix14 not too long ago. Logical switches have been one hell of a blessing. I’m sorry you had to go without for a while.
Solid work on throttle management, well done!
Keeping the speed and attitude nailed is key to succesful landings, more so with this Hornet!
Excellent job!
Gotta try those full span flaps myself next! :p
You totally should. It's so much more fun to fly like this. Needs a lot of up stab trim though!
@@TwoBrosRC That's to be expected with the Hornet though, full scale included. Actually, even the high alpha is performed with pitch-up being held on the full scale as opposed to other jets like the Raptor or Su-35 ;)
Thank you for all the time you put into your Videos, and you sharing your skills with us! so helpful!
Thanks for checking out my content!
Looks amazing! The difference is night and day!
Doesn't it just look so much better with FS flaps? Sure, it takes a bit more work to land, but that's the challenge of having a scale jet land like a scale jet.
And "chest cam" is super useful. Thanks!
Awesome video thank you very much it helps
Glad to hear it! There's more coming soon.
Living dangerously! Maybe you could ask them to mow a meter either side of the runway to give you more landing tolerance and less likely to wreck the jet! Love the tutorials though.
Haha, yeah, it was rough - but you guys are worth risking the models for. Gotta get that content out. The groundskeeper at the airport was finally arsed to mow as of earlier last month, so we've been blessed with a clear taxiway to fly from lately. Check the uploads I've posted in the last three weeks and you'll see!
Hi. Very good demonstration. Very good EDF Jet. My new F-18C Hornet 90mm comes in with FedEx today. Really looking forward to test this EDF Jet. I am flying SkyMasters Jets ( 2x 22kg Thgrust) But, I am very impressed over these EDF Jets. Also have a T-33 EDF 2x2 m 120mm PowerFan. Keep up the good work! Well done! Regards, John up in Norway - Tønsberg the summer and Viking Town by the Oslo fjord.
Keep em coming your landings with the jets ... well makes me want to solo my F5...tiger soon. I sub and double 👍👍
Will do, buddy. Good luck with your F-5. I'll get one of them sometime.
excellent flying as always... need some leading edge flaps :)
Still a nice landing even with the bugs! Bugs are something people don't really pay attention to while flying. But they could ruin the flight if they sting at the right time! A horsefly or a small wasp stung me while I was on the final of my E-flite F4 years ago. Greased the landing, and got the jet back in one piece without a scratch. But man, was that stung swelling fast, turned into a 2-inch lump in a minute.
Bruh, that's awful. Mosquitos and gnats are what we usually deal with here.
On landing, elevator controls speed and throttle controls sink rate / glide slope/ altitude.
I trim my elevator for a minimum controllable airspeed plus a little. That way I only need a little back pressure on elevator with small adjustments as needed. With the airspeed stable, the throttle setting becomes predictable. Don't abruptly chop the throttle.
Practice, practice, practice.
That's generally the idea.
I lost my shit right at the end with your narration of using the viper to suck and obliterate the bugs around your head. 😂😂😂
FWIW, I find it morally acceptable to be mosquitophobe.
Haha yeah man it'll suck bugs up easily. It gave me a few precious seconds of relief.
@@TwoBrosRC And the satisfaction of divine retribution, of course! ^^
Nice man! Great flight! What head-cam do you use? The one I have isn’t very good LOL.
I use a GoPro Hero 10 using custom video settings shot at 5.3k 60 FPS, with manual tracking in DaVinci Resolve Studio to keep the plane in frame at all times.
@@TwoBrosRC Ohh ok cool! Yeah you got the high tech stuff 😂
When r u going to add a functional tail hook it would look absolutely perfect
We'd rather not, it would risk the airframe.
Try using a combination of your index fingers and your thumbs on the sticks, it makes a huge difference in precision I promise you. Good video.
Thanks, but no thanks. I prefer thumbs only.
I lived in Rocky Mount for 2 years and I know what you mean about the heat and bugs. It never fails... I can stand in an empty field all day long and never have a bug near me... pick up a radio and get covered for 3-8 minutes. They must love 2.4 ghz.
It's awful, innit? Florida had bugs too so I'm not shocked that I'm still dealing with them up here. Spray doesn't seem to help though. It's just that time of year. Everyone asks me "Why do you like winter flying so much?" and my answer is because I prefer being cold over being hot (must be the Swedish in me) and I can't stand dealing with insects swarming me.
Hey Brother I didn’t want to do full span flaps but I was wondering what your recommendation is for a good take off and landing flap setting on a spektrum radio
Read over our setup guide, it's included in the maiden flight.
How critical were tailerons to making full span work? I have an 8 channel receiver and could do either tailerons or full span flaps. Which one added most to your flying enjoyment of this plane? Also, the stall when turning onto base is no joke, it doesn't take much for the plane to look like it's all but stopping...and not much more for it to actually stall.
There's no reason why you can't have full span flaps and differential stabilators (tailerons) on an 8ch radio:
1 THR
2 RFLP
3 LFLP
4 RUD
5 GEAR
6 FLAP
7 RSTB
8 LSTB
Set it up for both. It's way more fun to fly like this, and flies much more scale than it would if it was limited to pitch-only on the stabilators. The 10ch setup I use is only to have toed-in rudders for takeoff and for an independent nosewheel that I can turn off with the gear up and to add manual curved mix expo to it on the ground to avoid tipping it over at high speeds.
@@TwoBrosRC I have AS3X gains set to a channel, but just got an NX10 so it should be able to handle those inputs and the AS3X on an additional channel. Thanks for replying!
@@TwoBrosRC I've got everything hooked up separately now, but am a complete rookie with mixing. Do you have a .spm file that would work with a NX10?
Sorry man, your comment got stuck in the spam filter. I do not have a SPM file that you could import. I believe the NX radios might be able to import iSPM files though. Either way, the mixing is covered extensively in the upload if you have to manually input the values.
hi, can you tell me, have you made a Mix with an elevator flap? Thank you
All the info is in the maiden setup guide.
Push mower would be the go.
No thanks.
how do you change the display to all dark on your ix20?
It's in the configuration for the radio.
Get a Thermocell for chasing off the mosquitoes!
Thanks for the recommendation! I looked into it and wasn't terribly thrilled with the ingredient list - something about breathing in a potential neurotoxin is making me slightly concerned lol
@@TwoBrosRC dont tell me whats in it! 🤣 it works SO well and without it the skeeters will drain me dry!
Ciso ,puoi dirmi se ha fatto anche un mix con Flap + elevatore ? Grazie
All the info is in the maiden setup guide.
Hi Jon! What CG do you use in this F18?
100 to 110mm.
@@TwoBrosRC thanks!
Is it more stable with full span flaps than only the stock inboard?
No, that's why we made a tutorial for it.
I can recommend the LE flaps.. 😁
Bel volo, puoi firmi come di fa a far diventare tutti flap con hli alettoni? Graxie

How do you recover from an asymmetric stall???
Throttle up, push the nose down, get the wings flying again, then gently pull up and recover. Sometimes you can use rudder to kick the wings back over into a wings-level position. Really just depends on the stall and what attitude the plane is in.
@@TwoBrosRC Thanks Jon, unfortunately I've not had enough altitude to recover, ended up with a couple of nose plants into the ground. I'm learning...:)
For those of us just learning, you use alot of terms like “full span flaps”, “rudder tow?” “crow Mode” etc. but you don’t really explain what those terms mean, what they do/how they effect the plane. Etc.
I love your video’s. I just have trouble trying to keep up..
Unfortunately, if you're still learning this isn't a tutorial aimed at your skill level. The Freewing Hornet is an advanced level jet, made even more difficult to fly on the setup we use.
What is the advantage of ruddertoe?????
It's a scale detail that lets you push the tail down and rotate faster.
what is rudder toe?
Both rudders pointing inward. Helps to push the arse down for takeoff.
Yep, that's why I put in the effort to set them up.
is there a way I may email you or maybe talk on the phone as to how to set that up?
sorry Jon, I'm flying or learning EDF and I have an Avanti which doesn't have 2 rudders
@@xhawkchief I can't do personalized tutorials. I don't have enough time in my day to manage something like that. With the Avanti though, you don't need that system because it's just a single rudder.
those are called dog pecker gnats...
No idea what they are but I hate them with a burning passion.
Overheating GoPro? It only has one job.
Yeah, it's unfortunate. Thankfully the jet blast can cool it down between flights.
Freedom units???? MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
