Remember Sonic the Fighters?

With a large cast of colourful characters who differ greatly in appearances, the character roster of Sonic the Hedgehog makes a perfect fit for the fighting game genre, right? Well, Sega thought so in the 90's, and they commissioned their internal 'AM2' division to develop such a game!
Sonic the Fighters is known today to be one of the weirder entries into the Sonic series, and as I've never really played the game before, I thought it'd be fun to go back, play it, and make a video covering the game!

This game has so much more depth and technicality to it than people give it credit for. It’s a genuinely good fighter with its own quirks and interesting mechanics, and it takes more than a cursory glance to see beyond what’s on the surface.

sorry my man this one was a huge miss you did this game so dirty, this game had hyper mode, multi-directional air techs, interesting stage interactions, wall jumps, climbs etc, a unique risk-reward guard mechanic, I could go on and on I played this with a small online community back in the PS3 days, and now there's a modern day community who've pushed the game far beyond where we left off, check out Sonic Arena, the player Mystic Noodle, or something.
This game has seen a resurgence in the present day, Guilewinquote and wusstunes have really good videos covering the whole series I really think you maybe shoulda checked those out before getting into this, even if the game wasn't personally for you it's always good to look into these things to see if others found something in it you could not.

A few of the characters and stages appear in Fighters Megamix on the Saturn which may be the closest the game had gotten to a home console port at the time.

I dont feel your opinion on the movement. It just feels like vf2 or fighting vipers movement. Not as jank as tekken 1 or vanilla sf2.

The game doesn't deserve a 20 it's fun. Starfield deserves a 20. Eternal dungeon deserves a 20. Many shovelware games deserve a 20.

Try forward sidestep, it can help you land a few sneaky moves.

That's the thing. It didn't have negative feedback on release.
In America it has LIMITED release as Sonic Championship.
