In terms of uniqueness, I think the tone of Miley’s voice is incredible. For one, her fast vibrato and her ability to sing deep is unheard of in the pop industry today. Additionally, she has the ability to sing metal rock. Miley’s voice is untouchable. Her voice is so versatile.
Miley is so good. I think she has such a beautiful unique tone. She the underdog in the industry and completely underrated. Miley, Demi, Ariana are the top three females from the 2010's that can really blow. These new age kids don't have much pipes but those ladies do.
Miley’s voice can fit any genre, and Demi’s simply a powerhouse. I admire them both.

She sounded totally like her sister Noah and she sounded the same and has the same tone with Amy Winehouse, Amy Winehouse, Janis, etc. And many successfully imitated her voice... So where's the uniqueness? People are really ignorant right now, talking things that they don't really know... Versatility? Are you sure about that? Demi's voice is more agile and Miley struggles so hard to hit high notes and struggles so hard to change voice tone, color and voice weight in order to fit in different genres, emotion, song ambience and song context... @@HonestVocalCoach Demi has C#3-Bb5-Eb6-Bb7 live and Miley has B2-G#5-(not sure about head voice)-G7 so it depends on which registers are more important to you but I'd say Demi has more range...

Niffle Puff I think it seems like most people in the industry really appreciate Miley’s voice and singing abilities, if the audience does is something else. People are easily impressed by high notes, but doesn’t know how unique it is to have such a warm and rich tone in the lower notes as Miley has.

miley is UNBEATABLE with her lower range though.
I’ve been on concerts of both. Both singing 100% live. But i had the feeling while demi just uses all her power in the beginning she struggles at her last few songs, while miley keeps it simple and don’t get tired that fast

Miley’s voice can pull off any genre. That’s why I prefer hers over Demi’s even though Demi’s is strong. Miley just has more character to her voice which I love. I’m also a sucker for raspy deep voices especially on females lol

As someone who adores both Miley and Demi and watches a lot of their best vocals, I can tell that they definitely picked Mileys best vocals, and not Demis.
Robert M miley had tonsillitis and was on vocal rest on some of these clips and many of demis were supported. They werent even that bad for either they just werent thier best

@@katan4974 I disagree. Yes, Miley has a longer career and became famous earlier than ariana, but Ariana is undoubtedly more successful when it comes to chart and being a "technical" singer. Honest Vocal Coach already made a video similar to this, wherein Ariana won. Plus, Ariana made history by being the only solo act to occupy the first three spots in the billboard. Ariana has 2 number 1, Miley only has 1. Ariana already has 9 Grammy Nomination, wherein she won 1 of those and has 5 pending. Miley only has 1 nomination. The only thing Miley is above Ariana is sales, mostly thanks to her Hannah Montana days. But I love them and they are both my childhood crushes, and both of them are friends.
Demi and Miley have always been my queens and I couldn't say who I love more.
Demi's vocals are good but Miley have an unique range and more technique, also Miley can sing low notes, while Demi is only known for her high notes

@@kittyprrttthey had 9 years of clips to choose from and they chose them all from one year, with a lot of them being bad vocal days for Demi. I think both collections of clips weren’t great but Miley’s were definitely more consistent with the one or two bad clips (G5)

I usually love these vocal battles but just feel like this one was off for whatever reason. If I were to suggest battle clips - it shouldn't just be based on one attempt at one note. Like others mentioned, it looks like Demi's clips were all from her most recent tour. The tour where she fell ill for most of the tour and has since taken time off music.
I personally love Miley, but I feel like there should have been a few examples comparing each from different points in their career, rather than just one tour/period.

I’d say Miley by far is better, she knows her limits and uses almost every part of her voice in the best possible way. Demi clearly still has problems with having consistent technique, she’s relying too much on high notes being easy for her, but apparently doesn’t realize that they would sound a lot better with proper technique. Her voice sounds great, but just imagine what she could do if she cared more about technique.
The problem is that you cannot battle a soprano and a mezzosoprano. It's not fair. Demi will shine in the upper range because she's a soprano while Miley will shine in the central range because she's a mezzo.

There were definitely some dud clips chosen for Demi there; I can think of much better ones. As others have pointed out, Miley benefited from some good clips where she was well mic'd. In general, I'd rate Demi well above Miley. Based on this video, only narrowly so. But more importantly, I don't think a note-for-note look at who sustained better (especially with only one clip per note) is a true vocal battle. Demi has far more colour, depth and versatility to her voice when compared to Miley, who is great but whom I personally find to be a little same-y.
Fen Greatley-Hirsch Miley is a way better technician than Demi is. She understands her voice and manages to get the most out of it, with decent support throughout a large part of her range unlike Demi.
Miley is more versatile than Demi, she can sing pop, blues, country, rock, soul, etc

The C#3 was Demis very first one she ever did the second one was when she had damaged vocal cords. She was sick in the Stone Cold performance. And some of the clips are from the time she was on drugs (which affected her voice).

I think it's pretty obvious Miley is the stronger singer all-round, range-wise, technique, amazing tone, uniqueness and general musicality. It's really not surprising because of the Cyrus family being so musically driven, I feel like she's a natural whereas Demi has to put in more work. I've seen a lot of dud performances by Demi and those seem to be really rare from Miley. I enjoy listening to both artists though :)

Demi had higher larynx in her upper belts above F#5 she sounds very ‘Chipmunky’ in her F#5 belts and Above in tmylm era but now she has fixed that
If you compare the ages of you noticed their ages are roughly tied which is good I don't think people were realizing that Demi was much younger and they compare her voice to what it was when the video was created versus the age range that she was 2 so far I noticed where Denny's vocals were on spot for that age bracket and one or two where she had a cold and was still singing no dummy doesn't have a very good low vocal range nowadays it's better than it used to be but back then she didn't have the high vocal ability she does now or in 2020 we need to pay attention to the age range as well not just compare her to the vocals of now versus back then because I don't know much about Miley know but I do know that Demi did really well for her and she had available at the time of the first few clips
