If you're still curious why people hid luna's stuff, they were bullying her. Everyone at hogwarts finds her weird, even Harry early on. She's my personal favorite character in all the movies and tbh I shipped her and harry. It seemed like they Van truly understand each other and she's the only one who didn't immediately treat harry like he's someone special.
In the books, it's mentioned that Dumbledore didn't hire Umbridge, but the Fudge placed her because Dumbledore hadn't found a replacement Defence against the Dark Arts teacher by a certain deadline
Yes, he has to submit to the will of the governor's board, which (as we saw in the second movie) gets pressure from some bad dudes.
@@PrimeCircuit there is a theory by Supercarlinbrothers though that he wanted the Ministry to appoint someone (not necessarily Umbridge but someone sent from them) so Harry could learn about the corruption of the Ministry (because lets be real, if he wanted to he could have hired anyone from the Order)
Why Moody wasn't hired this year? Had he got another job?
@@resathe6760 the carlin bros do such good theories

Steven King described Umbridge as the best film villain since Hannibal Lecter
Lol holy shit!! He's not wrong though
Is really good because, she is not the psicopat, or evil like Voldemort or crazy like Beatriz, but her combination of suet voice, her laugh, her clothes, and she is a cat lady, when she is with Harry in detention you hate her, and then see her walking with her fake smile
He was referring to book-Umbridge. Book-Umbridge is a whooole lot worse than movie Umbridge!
The way Dumbledore says "Brian" always makes me laugh. Clearly not his favourite.
To be fair, I too would be embarrassed if I shared a name with a pretentious talking dog.
I need to know the original Brian dumbledore and what he did to earn being a middle name
At the Dumbledore Family Reunion
"This is my cousin Brian, Brian tell us what you've been up to!"
Brian - "Well sir... I step in front of cars... and sue the driver"
FFS Brian
@@AdamfromFWCI 😅
"So hi, I'm Brian. And you are?"
"There are some who call me... Tim?"
Harry gave the twins his Tri Wizard winnings to open their own joke shop. They left.
Sirius:His after something ...something he didn't have last time
ad: A scrumptious Wopper....
The fourth book started with Dudley on a strict diet after his school's nurse got the Dursley's attention, pointing out that Dudley was reaching the weight of a young Orca.
While Harry competed in the Death Olympics, Dudley picked up boxing, losing fat and gaining muscle in the process.
Kingsley: "Dumbledore got style!"
- Hehehe... I mean NO, fuck Dumbledore!
:D
Mrs. Figg is mentioned in the first book. She was a neighbor who used to babysit Harry. Harry didn't know until this book that she was a squib. A squib is someone who had no magic that was born to 2 magic parents. (Filch is also a squib.) That's how she knows Dumbledore.
They also didn't fly so low. They stayed up in the clouds on the way to Grimmauld Place.
The post of Defense Against the Dark Arts is cursed. No one really wants it but in this case Dumbledore didn't hire Umbridge. Fudge created a Ministry edict that said the Ministry would appoint a teacher if Dumbledore couldn't find one in a certain amount of time.
You were supposed to learn about Hagrid being half giant in Goblet of Fire bit they left that part out.
Yeah. Harry's dad was an ass as a kid but Snape wasn't exactly innocent. The boys hated each other.
Fred & George had already made other plans and didn't intend to stay at Hogwarts anyway.
Yeah Ron, Hermione and Ginny were flying on something they couldn't see. That scene in the book is awesome.
Fudge didn't want to believe Voldemort was back because he knew he wasn't qualified to handle something of that magnitude.
This is actually in my top 3 favorites of the franchise. It's pretty great adaptation of the longest book in the series despite how much they had to leave out.
Rare fair assessment. So many book snob tried to gatekeep and put down the movie.
There are well reasoned arguments that Umbridge is more evil than Voldemort.
🤣🤣🤣 amazing
You love 💕 to hate her 😄
She played that role so well I almost began to feel personally pressured to hate this lady forgot its a very well done role on her part
“I don’t blame him” sir you don’t blame him for tormenting a CHILD?! 😂 great reaction
It's complicated lol 🐍
Once upon a time Tom Riddle ( Voldemort) show interest for teach defence anginat Dark art position. Dut Dumbledore didn't gave him the post. For that Voldemort curse that position that no one able to hold the position more than one year.
Which is why Dumbledore wouldn't give the position to Snape as it would mean loosing Snape at the end of that year.
37:57 only Harry and Luna can see them, in the book Ron was freaking out.
Not sure if they have told you already but in the books you read that Dumbledore and Petunia (Harry’s aunt) had a deal that Harry had to return every summer to that house. That was because there was a spell or something that kept Harry safe until the age of 17
Actually, Lily's sacrifice was keeping Harry safe. Her love saved him from the Killing Cruse and as long as he considers her only remaining blood relative, Petunia's house his home, the protection is alive. That's why it was so important for Harry to stay with the Dursleys during the summers.
@@nicky1985824i’m pretty sure that dumbledore amplified the magic that lilly had cast to protect harry even further
In Movie version they show Dumbledore very less powerful. Here is the book version in short. Please read it
“But Master - he is here - he is below -”
Voldemort paid no attention. AVADA KEDAVRA!”
Harry had not even opened his mouth to resist. His mind was
blank, his wand pointing uselessly at the floor.
But the headless golden statue of the wizard in the fountain had
sprung alive, leaping from its plinth, and landed on the floor with a
crash between Harry and Voldemort. The spell merely glanced off its
chest as the statue flung out its arms, protecting Harry.
“What - ?” said Voldemort, staring around. And then he
breathed, “Dumbledore!”
Voldemort raised his wand and sent another jet of green light at
Dumbledore, who turned and was gone in a whirling of his cloak;
next second he had reappeared behind Voldemort and waved his
wand toward the remnants of the fountain; the other statues sprang to
life too. The statue of the witch ran at Bellatrix, who screamed and
sent spells streaming uselessly off its chest, before it dived at her, pin-
ning her to the floor. Meanwhile, the goblin and the house-elf scuttled
toward the fireplaces set along the wall, and the one-armed centaur
galloped at Voldemort, who vanished and reappeared beside the pool.
The headless statue thrust Harry backward, away from the fight, as
Dumbledore advanced on Voldemort and the golden centaur can-
tered around them both.
“You do not seek to kill me, Dumbledore?” called Voldemort, his
scarlet eyes narrowed over the top of the shield. “Above such brutality,
are you?”
“We both know that there are other ways of destroying a man,
Tom,” Dumbledore said calmly, continuing to walk toward Volde-
mort as though he had not a fear in the world, as though nothing had
happened to interrupt his stroll up the hall. “Merely taking your life
would not satisfy me, I admit -”
“There is nothing worse than death, Dumbledore!” snarled
Voldemort.
“You are quite wrong,”
“Indeed, your failure to un-
derstand that there are things much worse than death has always been
your greatest weakness -”
Dumbledore never failed down in book version. Voldemort was nervous entirely while face Dumbledore. Voldemort go inside Harry coz he failed to face Dumbledore.
I love Luna Lovegood as much as I hate Dolores Umbridge. Another great/funny reaction.
“Incompetent, sneaky, and crafty.”
You know he can’t be all three, but if he were just sneaky and crafty, your Slytherin heart would have to compliment him.
I don't like where this comment is going lol
Although I don't remember it being mentioned in any of the movies, the Defence Against the Dark Arts post was cursed by Voldemort decades earlier when he went to Hogwarts to get a job. That's why the school can't keep a Defence teacher longer than a school year. There's an insane shortage of available and willing people who would want to teach defense at Hogwarts so the school board and Dumbledore have to make do with what they get. As you've noticed, the selection had been quite sparse and underwhelming, except for Remus Lupin.
It’s funny that he asked earlier if Voldemort was a “bad sport,” because yes absolutely, and that was a prime example lol.
However, that was also a good move, since I assume he wanted to do as much damage as possible in that position. By cursing it, at least he made it impossible for the students to have any consistency in the subject and difficult to have decent training, hence leaving them defenseless against the “dark arts.”
I really love the “if Harry was in slytherin” theory and how different the story would have been. For example, if Harry was placed in slytherin Cedric likely wouldn’t have died in the last movie as slytherin Harry wouldn’t have shared the cup with him, he would have taken the victory for himself and Cedric never would have ended up at the graveyard with him and get killed by wormtail
I plan on watching those videos when I'm finished with the series ;)
Luna seems to have an inside scoop on Voldemort/Potter because her father is the editor of the Quibbler. Essentially it’s the opposite narrative of what the Daily Prophet has been pushing, the Quibbler contains eccentric beliefs as well as the supposed truth behind Voldemort
Proper Ravenclaw magazine. I'd love to write for the Quibbler.
In the flms there's a lot more that the twins do and all spells you cast on the fireworks make then worse. Because she's been so controlling all the teachers keep calling Umbridge to help with the fireworks for DAYS after saying they weren't sure if it's in their remit to deal with them. They even turned part of a corridor into a swamp Filch has to boat kids across 🤣
No spoilers, just some additional info the movies do a poor job explaining that can leave non book readers very confused, and at this stage in the game you really can't afford to be confused (because there are things you're supposed to be intentionally confused about, but what follows are not those things).
Snape can't "come to the rescue" because it could expose him as an agent for the Order. He was reporting to the Order at Grimmauld Place at the start of the movie. He is a master Legilimens which is very rare ( he is teaching Harry legilimancy) and that is how he is able to prevent V. and the Death Eaters from reading his mind and knowing that he is a spy. He was the one who alerted the Order that Harry saw V. torturing Sirius, which enabled them to realize what was going on and therefore the Order and Dumbledore came to rescue Harry and the DA.
It's explained in the books, but he submitted himself to the cruciatus curse (at the hands of Voldemort) to get back into the good graces of the Death Eaters after Voldemort returned, but he did not answer the call at the time of Cedric's death. Karkaroff (the Durmstrang headmaster) also didn't answer the call. In the books, you learn that he goes on the run, but his violently murdered body is found in the Carpathian mountains later on.
A lot of inspiration for the overall story and some specific characters comes from John Le Carre's Cold War centered Smiley novels including Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (in which the reader is first introduced to "Operation Witchcraft"); The Honourable Schoolboy; Smiley's People; The Spy Who Came In From the Cold; and A Small Town in Germany. Can't recommend them enough.
the start bit about dumbledore and the chocolate frogs was actually hilarious
edit: man it's been a long time since I've read the books and/or watched the movies and I'd forgotten how much I like Luna (maybe a bit biased from being a ravenclaw but she is just so positive and truthful idk)
🤣 why thankyou. It always feels scary trying little gag concepts like this, but comments like this are always encouraging :)
🐍⚫️🟢🐸
Correct about the loo! In the book, I think somewhere Dumbledore does mention finding the room of requirements once when he needed the bathroom in a hurry!
It's a bummer they didn't include the hospital scenes.. in the book they end up on the wrong floor and come across professor Lockhart who still can't remember who he is but still loves to sign autographs.. and while visiting him, they come across Neville with his grandmother visiting his parents.
Really enjoying your reactions and the new and refreshing Slytherin take on the movies. I will say though that Alan Rickman plays a very cool Snape whereas in the books he was a horrible bully towards the students. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts if you ever plan on reading/listening to the books.
Aww thanks. Yes it appears in the movies they gave the abusive teacher story to dumbledore instead 😏

What do you think are the odds of me wearing a Slytherin robe in the next reaction?
😉 🐍
No idea but I hope so.

I'm really stoked for his reaction to that too. It's going to be... interesting...
Someone may have said this before but Luna's line in the end comes full circle when he sees Sirius again... At the end. (When he sees everyone before he goes to Moldy Voldy.)

its my understanding when voldemort graduated he wanted to be a DADA teacher but he was denied and since then the position has been cursed NO teacher stayed more then a year (the only decent teacher in harry's time was Lupin but he sometimes needs a sub cause of his condition)
Dumbledore had nothing to do with Umbridge being appointed, she was basically sent as a spy for Fudge as he thought Dumbledore was trying to overthrow him as minister
Or so they'll have you believe.....
🐍😤
Lol JK wrote it that way 🤣 😂 Fudge was a paranoid mess especially with Lucius in his ear
Molly makes those clothes with love (and magic). Ron just doesn't like the color
I wish I had a jacket like that!
As much as I'm not a fan of Dumbledore, Umbridge was appointed by Fudge when Dumbles was unable to find someone for the position in time for the start of term.
Meanwhile Snape is left on the bench
@@AdamfromFWCI It's not explained well in the movies but years ago Tom Riddle, before he was Voldemort applied for the defense position and Dumbledore rejected him. He then placed a curse on the position so that no one would be able to hold it for more than a year which is the reason their defense classes are so s***.
Dumbledore has never been able to dispel the curse so if he appointed Snape he would only be able to hold the position for one year and a few of the people who held the position ended up being hurt badly which is why he doesn't want to give it to Snape.
Also, I think the reason that Umbrage is such a fantastic villain is because unlike a character such as Voldemort, you can actually imagine someone like Umbridge existing in real life. In fact you might have even met someone like that in some ways. That makes it much more real and therefore much more terrifying. She is the ultimate Evil Bureaucrat.
Loving this reaction series dude. You're fucken hilarious. 😆 I know you're already done watching the whole series now but damn, from here on and even in Goblet of Fire it's startin' to get realz innit. Can't wait to see the next one so I'ma start right now!
One fact that isn't made clear in the movies is that Filch can't do magic.
In the wizarding world you have "pure blood" families who have sons and daughters who have no magic.
I'm loving your reactions, it's so nice to see someone else who doesn't buy into the Dumbledore act, to be honest it took me a while to catch on, but i finally realized he was up to no good when i read this book, Order of the Phoenix. Rewatching the movies/reading the books after that, i had the same reactions as you.
I assume this all happened at Harvard since your obviously of high intelligence lol
The only reason I don't like this movies because the actress that played umbridge was so good that I hated that character and I can't watch it without wanting to punch her in the face. The character not the actress.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate your editing?!
Lol yes we can
...........
Ahhh... that was pleasant lol
🐍😤
Dude... you continue to knock it out of the park. Well done!!!!!!!!
the twins quit school with a BANG & in the books they even created a swamp in one of the corridors that the teachers left just to annoy umbridge
This is my favorite Dudley scene!!!!! And his running cracks me up!!!
21:45 Damn, even when Emma Watson acts happy, she sounds like she's about to cry.
Poor Snape. You'd think he'd know better than to bully a kid so badly that a boggart takes his form.
You would think more people in the fandom would realize that Neville's boggart of Snape was there more to contrast Harry's abnormally mature fear of dementors with the childish fears of his classmates. Interesting how people conveniently forget that.
@@krishmajumder1411 Um Neville’s boggart isn’t to contrast Harry’s being more serious lmao… the other students yeah they had small childish fears like spiders and things, Neville’s wasn’t the one to show contrast it was because snape was absolutely horrible to him constantly and would humiliate him in front of everyone for joy all the time. I know people love snape but people say anything to defend him when even jk Rowling said he’s a deeply horrible person and a bully.
@@clover2739 it's clear JK was more joking when she said he was a deeply horrible person, if you actually put that interview in context, someone asked her which were her favourite characters to write and I believe she said Snape because he is a deeply horrible person. Her actual assessment of Snape's morality is "Snape is all grey. You can't make him a Saint, he was vindictive and bullying. You can't make him a devil, he died to save the wizarding world", if you consider her tweets canon, (Personally I don't agree and I think he was a good person not grey especially if the only person he killed was the planned death with Dumbledore).
@@clover2739 do you think if Snape was this big bully that Neville was traumatized by then he would be the one to lead Dumbledore's Army against Snape and the Carrows in book 7? Don't you think it is more likely the boggart scene was nothing more than comedic gag that the author used to rally readers against a character that we all just dislike (We don't know pretty much any of Snape's backstory at this point in the series). If anything, don't you think the scene was meant to be more about Neville's character transformation than anything? From being a boy scared of almost everything in book 3 to a hero having developed to overcome all those fears in book 7? I am not bashing Neville, I love Neville, but making that boggart scene be about Snape's treating Neville like Snape is a Trunchbull 2.0 just takes away from Neville's character arc, which is equally as bad.
Let me say, it is not about saying anything to defend Snape, Snape still treated multiple students crap and was a huge bully to his students as a teacher, the guy was cruel, not likeable in the slightest (in the books). It is just about looking at the text rationally and trying (however hard it may be) not to let emotion cloud judgement. There is a shit ton of stuff Snape has done that is like, despicable, inexcusable, but please stop with this boggart argument and all the other common amti-Snape arguments we have heard, we (people who calmly and rationally defend Snape) have addressed these stale arguments multiple times before, it is like hearing a broken record.
@@krishmajumder1411 the thing is the boggart scene would be seen as just a ‘funny gag’ if they didn’t show Snape being the absolute worst to him and treat him horribly. You said it your self he did bully kids so why get so offended by the boggart comment when people overanalyse everything Snape does all the time in the same way to say he’s good? Like if Snape was just this strict teacher and that’s all and Neville was scared of him… sure it’s a funny gag because he’s scared of the strictness. However the reason people take it seriously is because of how much snape makes Neville feel bad about himself. The whole point of the scene was that even right before it Snape was putting down Neville so much, even to Lupin and Lupin didn’t like that so he wanted to prove to Neville that he is good enough and can be great. There’s a thing called context and putting things together with other actions that doesn’t make it as much of a gag than it is. The gag was more that he got to put Snape in his grandmothers clothes and have people laugh at him the same way that Snape made the class laugh at him right before it.
If you admit Snape was a bully to children and was awful, I don’t see what the issue is you have with people finding it bad that Neville has him as his boggart after the fact Snape treats him the worst for no reason? Why is that where you draw the line?
Also I don’t know what your first point about Neville leading the charge has got to do with anything? How would that mean that Snape wasn’t a bully… like what? The whole point of that was to show that Neville has really grown into himself and stand up to people now? ESPECIALLY to the one who treated him like crap? are you also saying that the carrows aren’t bad because Neville stands up to them as well or what? That doesn’t make sense as an argument I’ll be honest.
Personally, Snape has no business being Headmaster. Especially from the books. He’s terrible for kids. He’s a great teacher, but leading the school… I’d trust Dumbledore more. But if I had to prefer someone for the job, McGonagall is definitely best fit.
it's so sad, that the teachers get paintes so one dimensional in the movies - all of them!
I love all the teachers - Trewlawny (the little alcoholic), McGonagall - who is so extraordinary, Flitwick who is a duelling master
Like all of them...

Metamorphagus
this movie was not my favorite one but the book .... oh boy .... we got to really know what the struggle Harry was facing (and it was very well written) One of my favorite book of the serie
also you gotta know that Harry asked Sirius how they could've done that to Snape and thought it was wrong. He didn't agree with doing that, bc Harry understands what it's like being the butt of jokes/ getting bullied from the Dursleys. They don't show much in the movies but they're way more abusive in the books.
Yeah, I can see why Snape thought Harry was like his father (in the movies at least), because Harry was very bold, but he was never a bully like his dad had been.
38:50 i love your commentary 🤣🤣
Bellatrix is a different breed lol
As a 🐍, I am not happy to admit that the halfblood daughter of a squib ministry janitor Umbridge is also a Slytherin.
in the book the Dumbledore'sArmy memberslist was jinxed by Hermione to make the word SNEAK appear in zits on the forehead of anyone who betrayed them & it was Cho's friends Marietta and Cho was pissed that Hermione did that to her Harry said maybe SHE shouldn't have betrayed us and that budding relationship was over they were dead to each other
Yay it's here!!
I like the films more than the books shoot me and it always annoys me when people moan that such and such is better in the books and that the movie left this out and blah blah blah BUT saying that, the scene with Umbridge and the blood quill is a lot more brutal in the books.
He doesn’t just have to write it once, he has to do it over and over and over again. It cuts deeper and deeper into his skin, just fresh wound after fresh wound with umbridge just standing there. He even hears everyone cheering over at quidditch pitch at a match he’s supposed to be in I think? But instead of being there he’s just trapped in her office being made to torture himself
Soo yeah i love most of the books better then the movies except this one. This book has to much information that is not needed. I prefer the movie with this one
@@miepmiep2274 Actually yeah this one needed way more editing imo. Too repetitive. I enjoyed it but still.

How was this NOT about The Order??? That was the whole movie.
I dunno, I feel we got more about them as individuals and not as a super group. It still seemed to be a Harry v Voldemort centric plot to me
@@AdamfromFWCI the main part of the story was their training, from my take of it. You even called it, Harry was like their DoD teacher. Neville became confident, they learned their patronuses. They were able to go against adult Death Eaters, along with the original Order. Idk, I guess I got something different from it than you did. It's also my fav of the series, so I may be biased. To be fair: Snape can not take Harry for his Father actions as a Bully responsible. Nobody takes Draco Malfoy responsible for his Fathers action as a Deatheater 💀 or Sirius Black for his (literal) Black Family Tree. Scarhead😂😂 even Harry would laugh at that.
You are very astute in your offhand comments. "Are they the same person?" during the 'possession scene'... well, that would be telling.
You’ve been hit by the Alan Rickman effect! Snape is far harder to love in the books. He is a massive bully - really impairing the self esteems of literal children. I love snape because he’s such a complex character, and I love Alan rickman as snape but the movies make him a lot easier to love!

filch is a squibb like mrs figg it's the oppisite of a muggleborn witch/wizard a normal non-magical child born to a magical family
I don't know if the books go into it but why is Harry poor in the magic world?
Movie one shows the thousands of gold coins he had, that's enough for fancy brooks, the best books and some glasses that don't break 😂
After the sweet trolley scene we never see that Potter wealth again!
Filch might well be worse, he's a "squib". He was born to a magical family but can't do magic. Mrs Figg is also a squib and Nevillle's family worried he might be.
Maybe that makes Filch the perfect headmaster
in the books ginny is even more badass
The position of the Dark Arts teacher is cursed, that's why they only last a year, and why Dumbledore doesn't give it to Snape.
the store the twins open at the end of the year when they leave school was fully funded by harry's prize money for winning the triwizard toury he offered the cash to cedrics dad he said no he offered it to mr & mrs weasley they said no so he gave it to the twins for their joke shop

Mrs. Figg is a squib like Filch.
And Dudley had his tail surgically removed in the second book.
Kids under 17 are magically restricted. And yes the ministry comes and wipes the memories of muggles who witness anything.
Dumbledore didn't choose umbridge. She was appointed by the paranoid minister.
Kreacher served sirius' family they were pure blood obsessed people. Sirius was basically the only one who wasn't but he inherited kreacher.
I hate it when ppl do dumb shyt like that
i hated Snape from day one I later learned he's not all bad but I can't forgive some of what he did mostly stuff you don't know til the later stuff when everyone forgives him cause he did it for "love" that wasn't love it was obsession he was friends with lily and seemed to think that means he's owed vagina she defended him as a 5th year against James & he called he the M-word so he was dead ther heinstantly regreted it but he joined the dark side but turned back whenvoldy got the prophecy about her son he WANTED to let harry & james die so he could get her on the rebound but not possible fine hide them all he even was partly why voldy even knew he needed to go after them i wastraumatised seeing 15 month old harry crying and snape scoops up dead lily ignoring her child who he seemed to get a sexual thrill out of tormenting cause he lookied like his dad except with HER EYES (my biggest issue with the movies is they keep the words in the series & hire a blue eyed boy & brown eyed woman they were supposed to both have green)

Love looney lovegood! 😂 love to hate umbridge and bellatrix!
