    I know this is an old video but thanks for posting it. I had about 25 linear feet of 50+ year old hedges to remove. What a revelation it was to learn that a recip saw would work inside the soil underground with the Diablo carbide blades. I only have a M18 Fuel Hackzall and not the heavy duty Sawzall you recommended, but it still worked. I managed to get all the hedges out this afternoon by myself. I wouldn't have been able to do it so quickly without seeing this video first. Thanks!

    I have used my Dewalt 20v cordless sawzall to remove several big trees over the years. That coupled with Diable carbide landscape blades makes cutting through roots as easy as butter. Then I hop on my John Deere skidsteer, slide the bucket blade under the root where it has been cut and the root (any size) pops right out. In 2020, I removed seven trees and the roots too in a couple of hours. If I would have used a landscape service, I would have paid $$500 to $700 per tree.

    I'm in the process of digging holes for a 600 ft fence line. There are several trees along the way and I was just using the standard size blade that came with my reciprocating saw.
    Thanks to this video, I will be picking up some of those long blades to get the job done. Work smarter, not harder!

    This is why I keep an Skil 9 Amp reciprocating saw (Bosch era) around with some cheap wood blades from harbor freight. $60 well invested. I can't believe it still runs after how much it has been in the dirt cutting out stumps lol.

    Came across this video Tuesday night. Funny thing is I used my Milwaukee Super to remove an 8 foot tall and round evergreen bush and stump literally the day before. Absolutely wrecked three blades. A 9" Diablo, a 9" Lenox, and a 9" Porter Cable blade. But it got the job done proper and fast.

    Corded recipsaws are better than anything battery powered. Harbor Freight sells the Bauer 10 amp corded recip saw for $55 but if you catch it on sale you can save anywhere from $10-30 making it a no brainer. AND if it breaks within 90 days of purchase, just take it back and get a new one. For home DIYers that don't do this very often, you can't beat the Bauer. now if you're doing this all the time, yeah maybe it makes sense to upgrade to a more robust tool.

    He should have used the shovel first. That way the saw doesnt hit rocks and it also makes it less stress for the motor cutting through soil. He ended up using the shovel anyway.

    @larryseibold4287 Před 8 měsíci

    All good info. Milwaukee orbital 18V, yes. However, I just want to say to others, you undersold the BLADE. You need a 3TPI Carbide blade. Diablo calls them pruning blades. they are now fairly expensive, but the only way to go. Don't even try with lesser blades. If you dig a bit first (5 min max), then cut the circle (or two, outer then inner), a 9 inch blade will do and is about half the price of the 12".

      I used a combination of this and my truck. I cut a circle around the base of the bush with the Sawzall, wrapped a tow strap around it, and attached the truck and YOINK.
      The first attempt at doing it manually was terrible. 30 straight minutes of hacking away with a pick mattock resulted in half the job being done and my hand hurting for days.
      I had 10 butterfly bushes to remove, so I had to find an easier way.

    I only use 12" 6 tpi Diablo carbide blade to prevent the blade bended and it can cut in soil. Just cut around the root at 45 degree angle downward in one circle to take the root out.

    Do you have a video of this compared to Hilti? Just wondering about the basis of your statement about this one being better than what Hilti has to offer. Thanks!

    • @ManCaverTools
      @ManCaverTools  Před 4 lety

      I say that its better because of the orbital feature. HILTI does not have an orbit feature on its 22v recip saw. that alone will beat any recip saw. the orbit feature on the Milwaukee stenches far as well. The ryobi has a orbital feature as well but it doesn't expand like this Milwaukee does

    • @jacksonbaker7914
      @jacksonbaker7914 Před 4 lety

      Man Caver Tools that is a good point. Hilti had an orbital feature on past models of reciprocating saws, but discontinued the feature due to it being majorly underused. Great video!
