Front Yard Shrub Removal

  • Removing 20 mature holly shrubs, two juniper plants, and one sago palm. I cut them down rather than pull them out as the client didn't want to spend the extra money to rip them out or repair any possible irrigation damages that would likely come from pulling 15 year old shrubs that grew right next to irrigation supply lines. City provides free pickup of yard debris (they have two TL3 hydraulic scoop loaders that make it zero labor for the employees) if left at the curb, so there is no point in charging customers more to haul it away.

      He ruined that flowerbed by cutting them off like that. A professional arborist will never leave the stump and roots in the ground like that in a flowerbed. Those bushes should have been pulled up. They wont be able to plant anything there now because the roots and stumps that he left lies beneath the surface. My company never does that unless that's what the customer still wants after we explain the outcome.

I have a ford 450 turbodiesel with a dumptruck rear end and I abuse that thing with debris removal like this job. We’re also lucky to have “greenlands” in town that takes yard debris for free like this from any local landscape company and throws it into a huge mulcher and they sell it back as compost for a cheap price. Makes any kind of future planting or renovation cost more and take longer. Using the top growth for leverage when digging or pulling the,stumps out saves so much time. And leaves the area ready for any option grassing over, new shrubs etc. we always explain this future cost to the customer including dealing with shoots from the cut off stumps etc and once they understand they almost always go with full removal. Nice job Brad. I guess the homeowner just wanted a clean look. What's with the second chainsaw? Just wondering. It's nice that your city provides free service to pick those up, I'm sure they'll have fun doing it too. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇸

    A Sawzall with a brush blade will increase your efficiency and will allow you to cut the roots down in the dirt without having to use the hand saw.

    Just cutting them to the ground won’t prevent them from growing back will it? Seems like no money saved in the long run.

    • @CopperCreekCuts
      @CopperCreekCuts  Před 2 lety +2

      Any growth will not only be extremely green (meaning very easy to manage with string trimmer or just plucking with your hand) but will have to growth through the mulch.

    • @CopperCreekCuts
      @CopperCreekCuts  Před 2 lety

      If it makes it through the new mulch they will lay it will be very green and can be string trimmed or even hand pulled.

      Chemicals or just pruning/string trimming the delicate green growth that comes up.

    • @chasingthefish9042
      @chasingthefish9042 Před rokem +1

      Best thing it do is to fully cut them out or cut them lower then soil level and paint them with glyphosate after they are fresh cut. After about 2 or 3 weeks the stump should be fully dead and you can then cover them with soil.

      Covered #1 and #2 the description, but to add to number #2 any potential growth through the mulch will be green and easily maintained/removed.

    • @CopperCreekCuts
      @CopperCreekCuts  Před 2 lety

      Drop off at curb for free city pickup and pass the savings on to the customer or charge them more to spend more time loading a trailer, driving it to the dump, paying the dump fee, unloading the trailer, then driving home. I know which one makes more business sense to me! ;D

    use a sawsall with a diablo blade to protect you chain saw blade at the stump, then you can cut the stump below the surface
