Racism did not just disappear when Mandella become SA president, I have met many SA's in London, who still have this rasist attitude, they still think people of colour are below them, I am talking as recent as 2020. Its a shame, what we hear in the media is just the tip of the ice-berg. Good of Prince to talk about this openly, stay safe brother.

This is the exact reason I don’t let my kids play sports like Rugby or Cricket, you know, the ones where government had to “step in” to ensure that players are selected based on race.
Whatever your opinion on the matter, the fact is that sport is about winning, not about race, which means that naturally the players who will aid the team to win, will be selected… if you don’t get that part of sports, you should not be part of the discussion. Playing sport for money is what we are on about, everyone one wants a piece of the action, and those that don’t get in on it, will always have an excuse. The age-old story of sour grapes… When you play cricket on school level and the 1st team is announced, the kids who did not make the team will always have something to say about those that did, “daddy sponsored the blazers, mommy sucked off the couch”, etc. The reality is simple, no one wants to talk truths anymore, to the extent that we have now invented new ways of talking k@K, we call it, YOUR truth, MY truth… oh dear lord have we derailed in a bad way!
We all know the kids who has some natural talent, the cocky ones, the ones that don’t listen to the couch, the ones that don’t pitch for practice, sometimes not even for the game itself and it is exactly there where the problem lies. You might have not been chosen, not based on race, but because someone involved in the sport judged your actions prior your arrival, (if you like it or not, this is how it works. Someone has got to take a chance on you and do so by judging your actions). You got off the Bus and spat on the ground, swore like a pirate, walked off with swagger, without helping anyone carry in any equipment. We all know those kid stars that did not make it and then blame everything else for the failure. Ask the white kid who did not make it, he tells you it is the “quota system”, ask the coloured kid who did not make it, he tells you “Its racism”.
The government want players to be equally represented, they incentivise this, not only on national level, but all the way from school level. Everyone is looking for the next kid who came out of nowhere and made it big in sports, the media loves this, it sells, it makes money, so don’t tell me that the odd are stacked against players of colour. The sponsors, club owners, managers, etc. all want money/winnings, so they select players who will win games, who manage easily and who will add value to the entire team/sport. It does not matter what colour the team is, it only matters if they win or not. This is true for managers, owners, and sponsors alike.
Do you honestly want people to believe that 6% of the population, makes up 100% of the players on the field and that 6% of the population makes up 100% of the fans, the sponsors, and the management, the money in sports?? Come on man, we are in 2022, not 1991.
I call on those who did not make it, who believes that “racism” is at play to step up, get involved in the community, to aid schools and community projects with becoming little league coaches, assistant coaches, or just simply arriving on the scene to support where you can. Help a kid get to practise, help a kid stay on the field, involved and/or just sit on a bench and provide the moral support so many kids strive for, or just some sort of recognition.
It is easy to sit here and speak of racism in sports, when schools always struggle to get old students involved, financial aid, etc. It does not help trying to label those in the sport as racist, the system racist, or to ruin the lives of those that have given their lives to the sport by calling them racist. The only way you change not only your opinion, but also the sport, is by getting up and staying involved, against the odds.
Being able to accuse someone, even if falsely, and then having them investigated, their name tainted, having their careers placed on the line, etc. is surely not suggesting that we live in a racist society where anyone must “suffer in silence”, or at the hand of any coach, manager, or sponsor. Perpetuating racism in sport, is the very reason why talented players end up overseas and refuse to represent SA and the politics it is currently peddling. Wake up, stand up and fill the shoes that was laid out for you. Those that want, will and those who are looking for an excuse, will find one.

Being better than you does not automatically rendered him good enough to be selected on merit ahead of another player Ashwell. You are damn right that colour should not matter. Why then are you so persistent that he should have been selected ahead of a white player just because he was a player of colour? Today the only colour that matters is the colour black. There is no merit any more (that is as of recently with this BLM sh!t). Just for the record, I am of the opinion that you were selected purely on merit. That you have served your country with distinction! And, I am saddened by the fact that you were not given more opportunities of representing your country. But let bygones be bygones and rather fight for unity and righteousness by speaking out about how important merit is. You cannot justify selection of a player just because he is black at the expense of a better brown or white player. Should that be the case, it is a slap in the face of meritorious players such as Temba Bavuma, Andile Phehlakwayo, Kagiso Rabada and one or two others.
