It doesn't matter if you had a $150 million yacht, had a professional editing crew and only did exactly what "viewers wanted", there's always going to be trolls. The fact of the matter is, these "trolls" are usually just depressed people who are purely jealous that they don't have what you have and direct that sad reality onto you.
Keep doing exactly what you're doing. Your fans love you for exactly how you are. Also, I think I speak for 99% of people when I say your editing quality doesn't mean anything. It doesn't matter if you just filmed on your phone and uploaded the videos from there. We all enjoy watching you guys exploring, being happy together and sharing your ups and downs (in boating) to us all.
Ed, Lyn, listen up. My wife and I are about to take the plunge onto a 53' power boat. Naturally, we've been watching a lot of YT for information. There are literally hundreds of channels on sail boats but in a good few months of searching, we've found four channels focussed on power boats. Your channel has proven INVALUABLE to us. There are sooo many nuances to power boating simply not covered by young in their bikinis posing next to their code zero. Thank you so much for your efforts and don't you dare stop! 😂 Love you guys! Over out!
Thanks. We are glad you found the videos helpful/ Best wishes on your new boat. Buy our Hatteras was one of the best decisions we ever made.
Ed, That was a great summary of what it takes from both of you to produce these wonderful videos. We love the both of you.
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
We love you guys. Thanks for taking us along on the journey. Appreciate the content, education and fun shared over the years.
Dittos!!!!
Thanks for joining us!
Been following you two for a bit now, I like how you guys show it all, the good the bad and ugly. Especially the boat maintenance and repair.
I’ve got to second this comment. I follow a few other boating channels, and not being critical of them, but I like how you guys show the real side of boating, the good: friendships made and shared, adventures and ports of call; the bad: maintenance issues, expenses, being so close together for extended periods (marital relations!); and the ugly: well, just weather mostly. Cudos to you both! Boat purchased, one more year full time on dry ground, then we’ll catch you somewhere between Northwest Florida, the islands and New England for dock tails. Best wishes.
Thanks, we try to keep it real!
See you on the water!
@@tryingnottosink9107 Most likely I’ll be up in the pnw, just waiting for our place to sell, sold everything else. Retire to the BC coastline and the inside passage
You guys are the only non sailing channel I watch. That's how much I enjoy you guys.
Thanks. I won't tell anybody! 😁
Good stuff, the pure honesty of your channel is what keeps me coming back for more. Keep up the great work. Thank you.
Thanks, will do!
Ed,
Very good show and a lesson to all who would try vlogging.
I think the reason Lynn's bad day video drew so much attention from viewers
asking you not to quit is simple,
Your both genuine, you make videos, showing yourselves in real situations good and bad.
You present a type of boating that many of us wouldn't be able to do,
but you aren't snobs.
It feels good to be with you on your adventures, I love the fact
that at 81 I can sit in front of the computer and feel young
and adventurous again!
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Thanks Rik, that means a lot to us!
We are avid viewers of your channel and our advice to you is don’t change anything!! One of the best things is the videos are not scripted so we get the real deal so to speak. Thanks for all you do!!!!
Wow, thank you! And thanks for watching!
Been following y'all for 2 years or so. Great look into what is involved in producing a great channel. You're the only motor yacht channel I watch regularly. I watch several of the top 10 sailing catamaran channels. I love your content and watching weekly videos. Shortly after I started watching, I went back over most of your videos back to the Carver days. Your personalities come thru and it's obvious you share the good and beautiful places you cruise to as well as the problems and how you solve them so those like me can cruise vicariously with you. Thanks for all the work and time so we can enjoy your Hatteras on the seas. Fair winds and following seas in the future.
Thanks for following out adventure. We are glad you enjoy the videos. We try to keep them real.
You guys have been an inspiration for Lisa and I for several years as we prepped for the Loop starting in Nashville. Im also on an older model boat and when I see you making improvements and making your way through everyday cruising it encourages me to appreciate what we have, keep upgrading but in smart ways, work on the boat myself but bring in help when needed, and to have fun at the end of the day. That IS why we are doing this! I sure hope we see you all in Florida this winter. I owe you a bottle from my home state of TN. Our videos started as a way to show our kids where we were and what we were doing. Im still just figuring it out. They mostly chronicle the rivers Cumberland, Tennessee, Tombigbee and Ohio. We are so looking forward to joining y’all on the blue water in a month or so! Thanks to you and Lynn, we know it’s possible.
Thanks for joining us. We are glad you like the videos. See you on the water!
Nice videos by the way!
Always great to hear of your adventures and misadventures! Love the honesty about the trials and tribulations! It's been a dream of mine to be in your shoes and if I don't get to do it, I lived vicariously through you.
Our pleasure!
Very glad to hear you aren’t quitting the videos! Cruising Sea Venture did and we miss their videos. Love this video, as I’m about to create videos from my trip from FL to CT in our ‘79 Hatteras 43DC (the little sister to Triton 😂).
Glad you liked it. More to come!
I watch two boating channels regularly, this one and the Tula one. Both channels do about the same thing, but Tula is mostly sailing. I do not fit into the main demographic group of either channel. Broke!
I love the contrast in lifestyle between the channels. I spent several months at a time sailing on a 36' yawl, and lived on a 50' wooden trawler built in '46 in Maine. The trawler was a lot of work! So I can relate to everything that goes on in the videos. Except for all the fancy navigation electronics. On the trawler we had a radio direction finder, a compass, a peloris, binoculars, charts, the Eldridge, a divider, parallel rule, and a pencil. No pelorus on the sailboat.
I don't see the ads because I use an adblocker. The main reason I don't like ads is that I have never bought something because of an advertisement on the internet. Never ever. Sorry to the CZcams creators. The ads never tell me when Albertson's has bone-in ribeye on sale, but there are lots of ads for things I searched for on the internet and already bought!
Another boat-related channel I like is Sampson Boat Company and the restoration of the old sailboat. And I followed Dangar Marine because he was repairing a GM 471 engine, the same engine I worshiped and toiled over for five tears.
These channels bring back so many good memories. Even the spats. I put Captain Peter on the deck once. I abandoned Gold Star in Boston, and again in Coco Beach. I stormed off the boat several times in Palm Beach. I went off on my sailing captain, he sent me to haul up the mainsail and I went up without the winch handle, and he blamed it on me being a pothead. I hadn't brought any with me as we were going to The Bahamas, and I was probably on edge from withdrawal. I called him a Nazi. Not my finest moment. He was captured by the Nazis on the Maginot Line and performed slave labor in the factories until he escaped. Twice! Then he was imprisoned for being a Nazi sympathizer, but was released. I tearfully apologized. But I absolutely risked my life several times to save the day, and we have loved each other unto death. Robert (French pron.) is long gone, Peter and I keep in touch.
Anybody looking for a crew member? Haha!
I don't get the chance to watch many boating channels. Most free time is spent editing ours. However, Lyn does, and likes Tula very much. Thanks for joining us. Cheers!
Thanks Ed, for filling us in on the behind the scenes. We have been watching for years and enjoy every episode.
Thanks for joining us on the journey!
Thank you for all the work you put into your videos.
My pleasure!
I've been watching since the beginning..........I restored a Grand banks 36 and getting ready to go out the Erie canal, moored at Buffalo NY getting boat ready...on our way to Florida
That is awesome! See you on the water!
Thank you Ed for this educational & eye opening video. We have a much better understanding on how & why you two are making CZcams videos. I was surprised on the 10 hours that you spend editing on each Sunday morning video. Best of all, we are so happy that you guys will continue traveling the high seas & making entertaining videos.
Our pleasure! CHeers!
you make money documenting your memories and your hobby, so to speak. you do a great job. maybe go to bermuda so we can see what that's like :) you do a great job on this channel.
Thanks. We actually do not have the range to make it to Bermuda.
Thank you for all the great Information. Keep doing what you are doing and we will keep watching.
Thanks. Will do!
Love the videos and delighted that you are continuing to produce content. As a boater I learn a lot from your channel and also is good to view in the winter months while longing for the boating season to come round. Keep it going, we appreciate it.
Thanks, will do!
I’ve always done YT premium so I don’t see ads. I’ve always wondered how that impacts the revenue you make from premium users watching your videos compared to others that are forced to watch ads.
Recently discovered your channel, and it's definitely THE best boating channel out there. Keep doing what you're doing, exactly the way you're doin' it, and we'll keep watching. You're living my dream 😂
Welcome aboard! Thanks for joining us!
Thanks for sharing valuable information. I've viewed most of your videos and love following your travel adventures. Also admire your mechanical ability, perseverance and patience with the break downs along the way...expected with an older boat. The equipment list provided in this video is very helpful, especially the clue on DaVinci Resolve editing software. Your open and humble approach is always appreciated.
Awesome, thank you! I like Divinci more and more as I get used to it.
Thanks Ed, this was very informative and honest as usual from you. I didn't realize CZcams paid that much.. so I can only imagine what Derek from Vise grip garage gets paid by CZcams with his huge viewership.
Personally, I love the videos the both of you make, and appreciate all the work and time it takes to produce each of these videos for us. They're more than good enough for CZcams. So keep up the great work. Cheers! 🥂🍸🍹
Thanks. Glad you liked the video. Some channels do make a lot from You Tube. Cheers!
Congratulations on the 200th video! This one has great information. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do!
What great advice!! Thanks for sharing this!!
You are so welcome!
Awesome video Ed and Lynne! Especially appreciate how relatable your videos and interactions and personal experiences are shared!
Thanks so much!
Thank you for sharing - really enjoy watching your videos and, the be honest, the fact that you seem to understand that good enough is the enemy of perfect results in videos that, to me, have a much more personal feel - and that makes it work. I know you guys had a tough boating year this year (I've been fighting some boat problems too, but mostly dockside), but I hope that you will be able to put the bad behind and continue to adventure and share. Thanks again, I really appreciate what you do and how you are doing it!
Thanks. We appreciate that. We plan to keep plugging along.
Great vlog Lyn and Ed . I have followed your channel since the start. Always great, honest content. Thank you for keeping at it ❤
Awesome! Thank you!
I love your videos! They look terrific to me, keep doing what you do!
Thank you so much!
Just came across your channel. I love the man cave with the bar and safe. We just started a channel on boating in Florida. In the future we will get a sailboat or catamaran. Thank you for all of the information you have provided. It is very helpful. We consider the videos we make as "fancy home videos". We enjoy making them and sharing with others.
Thanks. And thanks for watching!
I'm just truly inspired and grateful for what you both have provided over the years! I've been binge watching all of your adventures since subscribing a few weeks ago and you've seemingly made the daunting and unachievable into what will become my reality in a few years (need to get the last of four kiddo's out of school). Just a simple 'thank you' from me and wanted to let you know how motivated and inspired these videos have made me!
Thanks. We are glad the videos were helpful. See you on the water some day!
Absolutely excellent video, love all of your stuff. I'm hooked like a starving catfish. I'm binge watching all weekend.
Thanks for all you guys do! Your efforts are very much appreciated!
Our pleasure!
GREAT video. Long time viewer. Thanks for sharing how it's done. You are great too listen to. Keep it up for all that agree with the content. Plus I just love how real you two are. Steve rhome tx
Much appreciated!
great vid thanks, hope to see you guys at the boat show!
We'll be there!
Nice job, thanks for being open to sharing the process.
You bet
You guys inspire more and more people everyday! Please keep doing what you are doing! :)
Thank you! Will do!
Great video Ed! I’m very happy to hear that you and Lynn aren’t giving up the ship! Yet! Enjoy it while you can, we’re loving retired life on our boat! Keep the videos coming!
That's the plan!
Thank you Ed! I really appreciate your candor and transparency. I have always enjoyed your channel and insights. Thanks again!!
Thank you very much!
Thank you both for sharing. I look forward to watching your videos every weekend.
Our pleasure!
Your channel seems to me a great way to creatively and productively document a life wheel spent. And just enough time spent on filming/editing to remain a hobby instead of a job. It's just about right as is.
Thanks. That is how we see it as well.
Going back to redefine your videos is like going back to define your childhood. Every channel has a sign of growing and so does our childhood.
Yeah, I know. But I still want to go back to tenth grade and smack myself.
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Have been on board since the beginning! Please, keep em coming.. gets better every video.
Will do! Thanks for sticking with us!
Thanks, Ed, for the update and How-To. We Love you guys and are working toward being out there with you in a year or 2.
Our pleasure!
Great job Ed, haters are gonna hate. You guys just keep it real. Thats why we watch!
Thanks. One of the things we are proudest of is our 99.1% up vote ratio. Most of the trolls have gotten bored and left.
Thanks for sharing your your boating experiences, and especially your openness on your process in making your videos!
Our pleasure!
We really enjoyed the video Ed & Lyn!
Like the new man cave studio vib!
You'll have to visit and experience the man cave in person!
Good break down of what goes into your channel. I hope your advertisers don’t have me on the “affluent list.” I couldn’t afford a dingy right now. That’s why I’m watching you guys. 😂
Thanks!
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing. We sure do think that the videos you produce are very good with nice content that people want to watch, it certainly does for us.
Thank you!
Keep up the good work we look forward to every one.
Thanks!
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I have been watching your videos for several years.
They are very enjoyable. and, I love your content.
Happy to hear that!
Really appreciate the openness and honest assessment here. While a very small number of people can make a lot of money doing videos, most don’t and that’s ok as long as you go into it knowing it’s because you want to share and tell stories, not a just a path to get rich.
Thanks. We agree!
Thank you for the vedio. It was great!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Ed and Lynn! It is great to compare processes of generating videos. I find I spend 30-40 hours per video (depending on the content - sometimes it is shorter). I still work at a demanding job, but I try to get videos out when I can. I have a great deal of appreciation for those who can put together a video on a weekly basis! Thanks for a great channel!
Thanks. That is how many hours I "should" put into my videos. Nice videos by the way. We have never been further north than Martha's Vineyard.
Keep on doing what you are doing!!
It's working.
Stay well. Stay happy. Peace.
Will do!
HI Ed and Lynn thank you for your videos as I fined them extremely informative and very cool. I live in NZ and absolutely enjoy each video. I am unsure how to express the amazing work you do in providing entertainment to myself and other followers each week. Thank you for sharing both your life and adventures. PS I have been with you since day one. Thank you.😄😁😄
That's fantastic! Thanks for joining us on the adventure!
Bravo, I love what you and Lynn do and the courage you both have…videos are awsome, entertaining and informative
Thank you so much!
Thanks!
You are welcome. And thanks for the tip! Cheers!
I have been following you guys from the beginning, THANK YOU! My wife is from Philly and she enjoys the accent. I like that you 2 do this not for the money. I'm retired and born and raised in mid-town Manhattan and would sell everything in a NY minute, but unfortunately my wife doesn't share my desire, so I live thru you 2. While boating is not cheap or for the faint of heart divorce is far more costly. thanks to you for giving me hours of fun>
What accent!? 😁 Thanks for watching!
That was very interesting to see what goes into making your videos. More equipment and time invested than I might have guessed.
The Roger Out at the end was the perfect way to wrap the episode!!!
ROGER-OUT!!
Bet you almost thought I forgot!
@@tryingnottosink9107 I totally did. I was getting sad.... like the TV show Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.... when it ends. But no -- that solid closing Roger Out... yay!
Great video. I’ll bet you opened a lot of eyes as to what it takes to put out one of your videos. We think you do a great job and really enjoy your content. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
What a fabulous summary!!! I am older and not affluent , with that being said, each and every video that you two produce is an opportunity for me to learn....
Thank you so much for making us a small part of your family and adventures...... oh and when are you going to introduce us to Mr Roger Out, 😂😂....
Thank you from the Northwoods of Wisconsin,
Scott and FuzzyNugget the traveling cat...
Roger Out where are you???,
Our pleasure! Cheers from Philly!
@tryingnottosink9107 Philly??? Omg Go Packers Go 🤣😂
I have been following your channel for a while now. I OHNESTLY look forward to seeing a new video on Sunday! I don't know if I am that lame or yun's video's are that good 😂 ( Let's sat the video's are Great). Bet yun's can't tell the area of Pa I am from. Keep the video's coming, Lynn just remember sometimes we all need to vent and we all question ourselves! The strongest Keep pushing and it does get BETTER ! Ed love the way you explain things and make everyone feel as if we are a part of the boat's family!
Yo, thanks for watching! We plan to keep pushing!
You guys rock!
Thanks!
Ed and Lyn.........keep on doing what you're doing... As a long time "rag bagger" I find your trials and tribulations very similar to my experiences in the great PNW while racing.
Thanks, will do!
Love the channel, love you both and I'm grateful for the content. Your adventures are always entertaining and you do a great job of presenting it to us!
Thanks so much!
Chase......what a cool name
What I love about your channel is the fact your boating in a place that's in realistic reach of the average boater. Who might have a little extra cash 😅😁
Thanks. That is what we think as well.
I had watched you guys from the beginning. You had done a wonderful job .Thank you for sharing all you do .
Thank you so much!
I'm originally from the suburbs of Philly .I lived Montgomery township and would always love to go down to Penns landing as a kid watching all the boat when I was about 20 I worked on tall ships and tugboat. I loved all boats for over 50 plus years.
Thanks for the info, yeah I imagine some peoples criticisms can be harsh or even judgmental but I like the fact you seem to be learning as you go. Thanks for the entertainment aboard as well of ashore.
Fortunately, we have very few negative comments on our channel. Less than 1%.
Awesome stuff! I graded it a triple EEE! That stands for educational, entertaining and enjoyable!!!
Great! Thanks!
Great video I really enjoy watching your videos
Glad you like them!
Great video, as usual.
Glad you enjoyed it
I always figured Lynn was the camera guru because of her experience, good job Lynn
Thank you!
I noticed that continuous improvement ...coincides with more enjoyment for me...good stuff
Yes it does!
THANK YOU FOR GHEAT VIDEOS.
Glad you like them!
I understand at your income levels the YT video time vs ROI is pretty bad, but as others have stated, we are grateful and greatly appreciate your videos.
Thanks for joining us!
Excellent
Thanks
Love your content. Sitting here binge watching your videos. Should be sleeping. I have a small Sea Ray (330 Sundancer) on an inland lake but my retirement goal is the loop on perhaps a little bit larger aft cabin sea Ray. I absolutely love your classic Hatteras. I always picture the Kennedy’s sitting off Martha’s Vineyard. Well anyway this has gotten long winded. Thank you. Keep it coming.
Glad you like them! We love our Hatteras. We will be off on another trip in May!
I've never seen a bad visualy or content vidio. Doing a fine job.
Thanks!
Sounds like a lot of work, thanks for all your efforts and for sharing. I guess I'm not critical enough all your editing seems fine to me.
Thanks for watching! Cheers!
Well done!
Thanks!
Yep, I enjoy your videos too. I've learned a lot, and it's opened my mind to possible opportunities. I'm glad everyone gave you positive feedback to your videos and efforts. Your channel is heart felt and real. BTW, nice bar in the background! I know you must be a great bartender as well! And while I enjoy watching your videos, I sure don't want you sending more than 15 hours a week making videos. I'd like you to try to get a little more efficient, meaning not having to put in 15 hours a week; AND spend at least as much time as you can enjoying you boat, each other, and your friends! Cuz' just isn't enough!$20 buck an hour for all your hard work isn't enough! But I sure hope you don't stop boating and making videos!
Thanks. We appreciate that!
Perfekt ❤
I watch your channel because the one of a few that show problems in the boating world. I am retired and was looking to buy a large boat. Your video of yearly cost was watch by the wife, so no boat. I hope you do not change much, love what you do, how you do it.
Thanks. We appreciate that!
Awesome video! Even though it was made on dry land. Some really good information. Thanks! Keep doing what makes you happy 🍸 Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Ed, nice summary, I have a 60 ft 96 Hatteras, CPMY, and particularly like your videos, especially your repair adventures.
Thanks. We are glad you enjoy the videos!
@@tryingnottosink9107 I’ll sign up as a patron. I had lived in society hill towers. Used to walk down and see your boat tied up. Thought it looked great…so I got one😎🏴☠️
You guys are way toooo humble - as usual. Because you didn't - let me add this emphasis. You bring years of Professional Photography experience to this channel - from both sides of the camera. And you bring a wealth of successful business management experience to the channel, which you, and would ascertain most idle viewers, just take for granted. And what? at least $10K in equipment? Honestly, I always come away from your videos thinking, "...whodahell is home doing the grass and taking-out the garbage? Where dahell do these people find the time?" I hope everyone caught that thumb-nail analysis - i.e. You could go in the office and make 2-3 X's the $$ for the time spent in editing alone. You gotta be doin this for the luv - Gawd Bless you Both. Every continued success to you.
Thanks for the kind words. Being from the photo industry, I guess we know better than most, what is possible, and how we fall short. And you are right, we do love doing this. Maybe not the work, but the rewards that it brings.
I've had my CZcams channel now for 11 years I've been following you all for a while I am about to rebuild the motor in my boat hope to see y'all out there happy boating
Rebuilding a boat motor is beyond my ability! Thanks for watching !
@@tryingnottosink9107 well that contents definitely going on my channel
Thank you for the info, I’m looking to upgrade my camera. I currently am using GoPros- 2 of the 7’s and one GoPro 8 with media attachment. I like them but want to up my game without spending a fortune. Lynn is quite the videographer and you do great putting it all together.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent breakdown. I have a fledgling channel that has 8 videos up. The learning curve is steep but rewarding. I have to check out the editing software you use.
Glad it was helpful! We would definitely do it all again. Good luck!
Ed, You all seem to have a great life and I really enjoy your videos. A couple of "background" questions ..... What are the trophies from? How good is your pool game? :)
The trophies are for winning the championship twice on a men's softball team that I sponsored and played on, back in my 30s. My pool game is hit or miss. Some times I am am very good, others times not so much.
Ed and Lin, thank you for all the hard work your videos are amazing. I owe you 2 a drink at Schaefer's Canal House. I live down the street 🍹😉
Sounds great!
Awesome video. You are very down to earth. This world needs more nice people like you. I guess we can include your wife to. 😊😊😊
Thanks. I appreciate that.
Keep up the good work. If it’s a hobby, you shouldn’t mind the effort. You narrations are great. Vayan Con Dios. 👍
Thanks. Will do!
Ed, as a former builder/seller of video editing systems (and other computer systems) I noticed 2 things that I would recommend changing/adding.
1. If possible increase the system memory to 64GB (higher if possible and you can afford it).
2. If possible add a DEDICATED media drive to the computer. While you can edit from the system drive, especially with SSD's, the read/write cycles will push the drive to failure faster.
As always, thanks for another educational video!
Thanks for the advice. We can add another 32gb of ram. So far, the system is working great. No lag while editing without proxies and it rips the files in better than real time.
