- Trains in Boston in 1996, MBTA, Amtrak, Conrail and Guilford. South Station and Readville pre electrification. Amtrak and MBTA are all F40's, including some Amtrak F40's on commuter trains
Concludes with a Bonus shot St Albans, Vermont - Auta a dopravní prostředky
wow this is so cool it's south station before electrification and with amtrak f40's!
I remember one the first time I went on the T Amtrak was pulling the coaches
4:33 - I guess they had a shortage of MBTA locomotives.
Even tho i wasn’t born in 1996 i bet boston looked great
12:39 he was FLYING, I don't think MBTA Commuter Rail trains go that fast anymore.
That's around 79 MPH, and their service speeds on the NEC has never changed even after the electrification.
@@radanju3 I thought they could go 90
@@JoeyLovesTrains I wish, but I'm pretty sure they never did..
@@radanju3 north side in Rowley area it’s 79 track speed
@@NguageTrains Correct. Just basically repeating what I said. Hopefully pretty soon they'll finally start testing electrification with upgraded MBTA fleet so we can finally exceed those speeds...
4:30 well that's weird.
12:00 there it is again.
leased to cover power shortage perhaps? Certainly different.
Is that the old northstation around the 4min mark? South Station doesn't have drawbridges or water nearby from what I recall. I would love to know!
I’m sure it’s south station as there are Amtrak trains there and it’s pre downeaster.
South station used to have draw bridges. There’s a piece of one of them still standing
its South Station that draw bridge leads to South Bay/ the Old Colony Lines, the drawbridges were removed a few years later.
It seems a little boring railfanning with only F40s. Definitely glad to see different trains these days
Its not often you got more variety in raifaning!
I'd trade the modern shit for F40s so fast omfg
Where's the overhead lines at South Station?
So I guess the GP40MC's were not popular on the southern portion of the line at that time?
Unsure.
They weren't in service until 1997/1998 after the returned from rebuild.
@@buttersrow426 Ah, makes sense.
I wonder did Amtrak came Brockton b4
Did double decker MBTA trains exist before I was born?
They got them in the 90s
@Andrew Surgenor did you film this video?
Yes
What!?
