    Must admit I think more cities than castles for Poland but it makes a lot of sense now, since they were some of the big boys in European empires past weren't they. Thanks for sharing! Will add these to my long long list for Poland 👍🏾

    Most castles and other historical places such old buildings, churches,were destroyed during WW2 as Nazi Germany and Communist Russia made a battlefield from our beautiful country.
    P.S. there was no country who would stand against Germany and Russia alone on this time as even Britain and France combined couldn't stop Germany of taking the Europe. Poland was alone and Polish army was new born as there were before partitions of Poland by Prussia,Austria and Russia and our country was robbed by 3 countries and destroyed even before WW2.
    Please read the link below:
    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partitions_of_Poland
    Then in 1919-1920 was a Polish-Bolshevic(Russian) war where Russia wanted to conquer whole Europe ,but our Polish new born army after 123 years partitions of Poland and WW1 Polish New Army was much weaker and less advanced than Russia but still kicked their ass and kept West safe from Russians. Britain was surprised that without their support or France it was a Polish Victory.
    If Poland would be so advanced like the West and rich and if partitions by 3 countries wouldn't happen then Poland could keep old borders and would probably win with Nazi Germany alone as Polish men are best soldiers ,but without modern equipment no one can do much to win a war.
    I came back to you mate after long time but will watch your previous videos for sure as you do a great job!
    Take care and stay safe man!

    6:05 I don't know where did you take those dates from...
    1333-1795? Those are (most propably) dates of Senate residing in Krakow.
    1037-1596 are dates of kings and princes of Poland residing in Krakow.

    • @cpt.flamer7184
      @cpt.flamer7184 Před 2 lety +3

      Actually it's a reasonable mistake. Casimir the Great started ruling in 1333, his father united Poland after feudal fragmentation when there were several dukedomes rather than one state. Casimir also was the one who started to refer to Poland as a Polish Crown, so it was kinda begining of new look on authorities and organisation of country. Nethertheless many king before him were residing in Krakow.
      Sejm and Senat were residing in several places, but mosty in Warsaw, that was one of main reasons why king and his court moved to Warsaw, but even tho the king, sejm, senat and most important institutions were risiding in Warsaw Krakow was still considered a capitol city, kings were still crowned, get merried and get burried in Krakow. 1795 is a year of final partition when Poland as a state ceased to exist, so there was no more capitol city xD So officially Krakow was a capitol until 1795, but King weren't residing there since 1596 (in fact since 1609, because moving a whole court was a long process ;p)

    you fail to mention that most of these castles were inherited by Pl after the boundary change of 1945 when they got about a quarter of germany, german for over 700 years, so there is nothing polish about them other than today they are sitting on the territory of PL but the rightful owners were never given back their castles after most fled 1945 before the russians arrived. do your due diligence, and tell your listeners, these are german owned and built and were only "inherited " by PL after the war. The Poles changed the castle names and polonized them. These names are NOT the historical names one would have found about 1900. please do not practice forced polonization but the historical truth. thank you. Dr. R. Wistuba, The Fraenkel and Pinkus Collections, NYC.
