Agreed saw him in the last few years twice here in the states and was able to speak to him for a few minutes both times. He was very gracious.

The line up from 1979 onwards consisted of four really nice gents (met them) and ultra-talented. The music produced is timeless. 😊

There's lots of (good) synth pop bands, but Ultravox is, to my ears, the real Synth ROCK band.

Fantastic track, I loved it back in 1984 as a then 13/14 year old. Still love it today.

I could listen to Midge talk about music all day long. And most people have no idea what a gifted musician he is. He once filled in on guitar with Thin Lizzy! He learned the songs on the plane on his way to the gig with his Walkman. How is that even possible to be THAT talented? LOL

Actually this is quite common among professional musicians and it is a necessary skill to become a high level performer und n this industry. Midge has huge talent, but actually there are a lot of guitarists who can do such a thing.

The bassline at the beginning is sampled by Robyn on 'Dancing With Tears In My Eyes'. This song also inspired that song

“Brilliant” is an incredible album. Ultravox are phenomenal. They influenced Rush - enough said.

One of reasons I pushed for the Moody Blues to be in the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame is because they paved they way for bands like Ultravox to create atmospheric recordings. I've always said that if there is a chord change that induced a melancholy feeling to the listener, the Moody Blues and Ultravox found it and exploited it. And us listeners have been blessed for it.

One of the reasons I loved Ultravox so much is because they were so different from any other band at the time.

I swear, Bowie's "Five Years" had an amazing and profound effect on so many great musicians like Midge Ure, Mick Jones and many many more. "Dancing with Tears in My Eyes" is just Classic. Boom 97.3, thanks for posting such a diverse group of Legends on your site. I don't feel so old. LoL.

One of my favourite Ultravox tracks. Probably holds the world record for greatest contrast between the cheerful music (a huge singalong stadium bouncer that makes U2 sound like Rod, Jane & Freddy) and depressing lyrics ("This is it - we're all going to die!") !!
Love it, the recent live version was a show stopper.

One of the greatest musicians you will find when it comes to innovation with guitars also a strong vocalist, not to pass by the others in Ultravox an incredible band from the get go... remember original singer John Foxx? Excellent Thank you for this
