    What a relief! With your system I didn't have to buy any equipment - just self-sealing mylar bags and oxygen absorbers. PS: What size (for ordering) are your mylar bags? And if there are different sizes or styles of oxygen absorbers, which ones do I buy for that mylar bag? Thank you.

      Dry mixes can be stored in the fridge, freezer, a cold basement, mylar bags, or dry canned. Dry canning doesn't need an oxy absorber.

      I've dry canned some keto bars. I don't know why you couldnt dry can the fiber one bars? I know things with soy oil don't seem to last as long as peanut or corn oil products. Alaska Prepper opened M&Ms he'd canned 5 or so years ago & said they were great. Another video opened M&Ms canned 7 years ago & they were powder! Alaskan prepper does have a 'cool' not frozen or hot storage in his pantry. I really wish we had more root cellars around!!

    Love your video. I’m new to prepping. Can you also pack chocolate chip cookies in this manner. Could I just pour the pack of cookies or crackers in a ‘gallon’ mylar bag with a 300 cc OA? Is that safe. Also, you mentioned that we should watch the fat content. Can you elaborate just a tad on that? I just don’t want to harm my grandkids by packing something in the wrong way. Hope to hear back. Thanks so much. 🤗

    • @pandemicprepsters5222
      @pandemicprepsters5222  Před 2 lety +5

      I often store cracker and cookies in Mylar! I am picking with when I store trying to do stuff lower in fat. Behind lower and that is no matter what fat will eventually go rancid. I’ve successfully stored chocolate chips for 10 years and many other things. The lower the fat the longer you can store it. For instance nuts I don’t store in my lar bags, I store those mason jars I still add an oxygen absorber because that slows the rancidity down and allows you to store nuts longer maybe double to triple the shelflife. If something does go rancid you smell it there’s nothing like old peanuts is sitting in the shelf and opening it up you know you don’t even need to taste of that it’s bad has that same smell.

      Use a hair flat iron or place a board against one side of the top of the bag and use a regular iron.

    If you have a reliable vacuum sealer, you don't need to waste your money on oxygen absorbers. Vacuum sealing the crackers is all you need to do.

    • @s.oliver5735

      The oxygen absorber removes the oxygen and leaves the nitrogen, which preserves the food. Vacuum sealing simply removes most of the air. It is not the same thing.

      @luminicias8541 Před 2 lety

      It depends on the size of the bags you're using. On a site that sells mylarbags or oxygen absorbers you often can find which size you need. For example at mylarshop (.) com/oxygen-absorbers . (no personal interest, just a page I used for my own as a beginner)

    • @JH-tj9jd
      @JH-tj9jd Před rokem

      1 pint 50-100cc, 1 quart 100-150cc, 1/2 gallon 150-300cc, 1 gallon 300-500cc, 5 gallon 1400-2500cc.
      Some food items will have higher oxygen content than others and require a larger oxygen absorber while some foods have less and require a smaller oxygen absorber. PackFreshUSA includes a food storage guide in with each order which covers most foods people store and the size oxygen absorber needed for each size bag used.

      One of the benefits right now of storing food is food prices are increasing dramatically so if I can buy something and store it I’m ahead of the game. Specially book bulk items like rice servings you get a better deal on and store them for longer-term. I have found great deals on markdowns price that’s normally $20 for six or seven dollars I store that rice. Carry a variety of thicknesses of Mylar sets. Of course the higher of the quantity of the set the better deal, maybe you can go in with somebody and get 100 quantity instead of the 50 quantity and you’re saving more money. I also included coupon codes that was 10% in the comments/description

So what do you say to that? Do you have any proof that it will store long term have you opened any crackers that were stored over a year and ate them?
