I subscribed to your channel because you have a great way of explaining both how the car is supposed to work and how to make a fix (a rare talent). Very clear. I have a cheap multi meter that won't graph the signal wire like yours did. Can I still test the signal wire with my multi meter? Am i doing that on the OHMs setting? Thank you for your video.

Yes, use low voltage range which includes 5v and set meter to A/C!

I’m having a no start issue and p0340 showed up after a month but it finally popped up while cranking I’ve always thought an engine has to be running to pick up a code and it wasn’t in the saved message either that one had a p0011 something over advanced and that was in the saved codes not an actual cel light

  • @randeniweerachandra158

Hi, I have 2000 toyota avalon with 1mz engine which slightly backfires when trying to start and won't idle and won't rev over 2000rpm. came from other workshop which they done timing belt and water pump, checked timing ok, fuel pressure and other things ok as the car can forced to run. as the car can forced to run around 1500rpm and hold steady but the rpm counter on the scanner goes up and down. draft the crank signal on scanner and sowing erratic signal, changed the sensor still the same.

A dropping 5 volts or ground can cause it but. A dropping 5volts will normally pop a code

1 month ago my nissan was scan and found code P0335, use to have hard start and stops while ideling. Finally refused to start a week ago. I changed crankshaft sensor at the back of engine, maintained the camshaft sensor on top of the engine and the car will not still start. i went further to test the resistances of the three sensors.2.74Mohms old crankshaft, 6.98Mohms new crankshaft and 3.89Mohms camshaft. Please any way out.

Sorry this is so long, it's copied from caddy forum i used...........
    I had the p0008 on my 2010 CTS4.
I changed the sensor for bank 1 along with the solenoid actuator. The p0008 is gone, p0342 is now on the CEL. The car did not start until several long attempts. The sensor for the cam was bad and now has a full 12 volt load going to it and no more p0008. Ohms test shows the old sensor defective.
The solenoid actuator was not bad but replaced with a new AC Delco part. I show 9 volts input at key on.
And 2 volts when running. I also tried the old actuator with the same results. Both actuators show good with ohms result test.
The battery has a full charge, Alt putting 14 volts when running.
What would make the p0342 voltage drop? If i clear the code it reappears at the next start up. I'm stumped here, any help appreciated. The only odd issue was the long start up of several attempts before it ran. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I am sick of the fossil fueled cars, next one will be an Electric when the prices comes down.
The up side is no maintenance, there is nothing that can go wrong with EV's, no tune-ups, no transmission, no engine, no hidden sensors like the one I need to replace with a P0340 code engine camshaft position sensor.
The car starts and runs fine, but I have this check engine light that will not go out, so I'm concerned that if that sensor goes completely the engine won't start at all one day & then I will junk the car or sell it for parts, so until then I think it will be just for local driving, it doesn't pay to fix a 19 year old car they would have to take half the engine apart to get at the stupid sensor.
When everyone goes EV I feel sorry for the repair guys, they will need to retrain.
