  • In this video you are riding in a Siemens Velaro E (AVE Class 103) EMU train. The entire video is in cockpit mode.
    The map used to create this video is very active and includes a lot of interesting scenarios. Included in the map are large cities, high speed trains, elevated track, and a lot of traffic with large ships, a busy airport, and diverse road vehicles. And of course trains, trains, and more trains!
    This video uses a large number of mods. Thank you to all of the mod makers who make Transport Fever a better game!
    Here is my channel with more videos from the game Transport Fever:

      General Tso I just read your reply below on how you did this. I know you can delete everything apart from one building and the town will grow back. I also accidentally deleted all buildings once and then it doesn't grow back. I never thought about building a route this way though, it's fascinating. I'm interested to know how you went about this, for instance, did you lay all the tracks first and then plop the buildings around them?

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 5 lety +3

      I started with the basic idea that I would have one large city in the center of the map connected to several smaller cities located at other spots on the map. First I leveled a large area in the center of the map and built most of the large city. Usually placing tracks first then roads afterwards although that wasn't the case 100% of the time. This included all of the rails and roads leading out of the city which just dead ended a short distance outside of the city. As a temporary solution while I was testing things with the big city I placed stations at the ends of the dead end rails so I could run some trains. Once the big city was done I started building the smaller cities and connecting everything up. I deleted the temporary stations one at a time as I built each smaller city and connected them to the big city.
      Once I had a given city laid out then I went back and improved things like adding decorations and making roads, rails, and bridges level. I also added the outer edges of the cities (suburbs) after everything else was done. Once the cities and large freight yards where complete I started adding the scenery along the routes between the cities.
      The Flat Terrain mod comes in handy when building large cities (as long as you want your city to be flat of course).

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 5 lety +2

      I forgot to mention. I plopped the buildings after building the roads. While adding buildings I usually did one section of a city at a time while trying to make each section look like part of a real city. That way I could kind of get in the right mood. One day I might build a gritty industrial area, the next day I might build a high class type residential area, etc...

      General Tso Thank you for your answers, just two more questions... you used the Person Magnet mod, did you also use the Cargo Magnet mod? With no AI creating lots of people/traffic, did it help with frame rates? Just watched it all again, I love it.

      Oh, OK. I used several mods for that. I can't be quite 100% certain which mods I used, but these should be it:
      1. I used this mod to "plop" the buildings down.
      steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=858985255
      Just be careful. This mod cannot be active when you create a new map in the game. You need to start the new game without this mod being active then save the game. Then activate this mod while loading the saved game. You only need to do this once as long as you save the game after loading it with the mod.
      2. I used this mod to add the people. You may need to mess around with it a little in order to understand how it works.
      steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=912552114
      3. I also used a large number of custom buildings that came as mods. You can find them by searching around on the Steam Workshop for Transport Fever. You can use the check boxes under "BUILDING" to find most of them.
      steamcommunity.com/app/446800/workshop/

    How did you add the police stations? I couldn't find it in the workshop. Beautiful map by the way, but the amount of detail is taking a toll on your graphics card 😅(probably a GTX 960). Just imagine the pain I endure when trying to play large maps late game in my lenovo g500s with GT720M lol 😂😂

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 5 lety +1

      Here's the mod I used for the police station:
      steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1125300707&searchtext=police
      The same guy also has mods for police cars, a fire station, and other things that might interest you. You can use the search function within the Steam Workshop for Transport Fever to find them. If you have questions about any other mod I'd be glad to try and help you with it.
      Although with your hardware you probably need to use some caution when adding mods. You can still have some fun with them. For example with the mega city map shown here I didn't play it like a normal game. Instead I used the no cost mod and kind of treated it like a giant train set. I used a combination of mods to remove items, manually deleting some items, and manually editing some game files to start with a map that consisted of just grass and water. No people, no cities, no industry. That way I could add just the things I wanted to be seen - no extras. For example I used the people magnet mod to add people just where I wanted them. If you are interested in playing the game totally as a model train set instead of an economic simulation. You might be able to get away with it if you start with a small blank map and limit what you add to it. You could probably still make some really interesting pictures and or videos if that's what you are interested in.
      My video card is a Nvidia 1080ti. A little better than a GTX960 but still not the latest and greatest since Nvidia has released a newer series of cards.

      Yes I agree. It's more than I normally have on most maps. But I made this map just for videos. I tried to make the routes as efficient as possible but making them look good for the video came first. To make them more efficient I would had to add tracks or remove trains and I didn't want to do that because it would have been detrimental to the video (in my opinion).

    • @rishabhpaul15
      @rishabhpaul15 Před 5 lety +2

      @@General_Tso actually it's not your fault but that stupid Russian train takes forever to accelerate. And I think you recorded this on the new ICE which has a quicker acceleration which compelled it to stop at so many points. But this is the reason why I prefer only one single type of train on every line 😅like only ICE on one line and only TGV on the other as long as both lines don't overlap each other for more than 10% of the time. Those that do more than 10, I use the same train on those tracks too to maintain the sync. But yes, that'd look so unrealistic. Good for efficiency but not for a youtube video 😅

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 5 lety +1

      That's one thing that took me awhile to get over. When making maps for videos I need to forget about making efficient routes that make in-game money. Instead they need to just look like real train routes. I don't always succeed but that's my goal.
      Part of the problem on this map was that I didn't want to add to many tracks to the elevated loop around the city. I figured if there were to many then it would look less realistic. Not to mention that the view from the train's cockpit wouldn't be as nice because more of the ground level stuff would have been blocked by the extra track. But I also wanted to make the loop somewhat busy. And since the trains using the loop originated from different locations and where also different models it was impossible to get things timed correctly. Almost all of the trains on this map run real routes that could make money if this was a normal map. If I ever try something like this again I'll probably do things a little differently and just make most of the trains use totally "fake" routes that look good on the camera. That way it will be easier to time things.

  • @General_Tso
    @General_Tso  Před 5 lety +8

    It was a randomly generated map that was heavily customized by me. I forget the random seed used for the map but it's not all that important with the way I did things. I describe what I did in case you are interested.
    First I changed some of the settings in one of the game files to make random maps as flat as possible. I forget the details off the top of my head but if you search around you should be able to find all the info you need. I also changed the settings so that maps only had two cities and no industry. Also no roads.
    Then I kept trying different random maps until I found one where the rivers and lakes where what I wanted.
    Then I deleted the two cities so that I had a plain map just grass and water.
    From there I manually flattened a large part of the map using a mod. Then using the no cost mod I used the terraform tool to add mountains, hills, etc. to my liking. Then I created the cities and roads using mods where necessary.
    Once all that was done then I started building railroads. :)

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 5 lety +2

      I don't think a list of the mods is available but I should be able to give you some help finding what you need.
      There are roughly 400 mods currently being used on this map.
      About a dozen of them came from this web site:
      www.transportfever.net/filebase/index.php/Filebase/
      The rest came from the Steam Workshop for Transport Fever.
      This map wasn't created in the usual way. I started by creating a random map then deleted everything so that all that was left was green grass and water. I then manually added every single item to the map. I used the Plop Town Buildings mod to manually add standard in-game buildings to the map. I also used a bunch of mods from the Steam Workshop to add custom buildings such as police stations, fire stations, warehouses, etc.
      Because of the way I set things up there is no econemy on the map and no AI cities. The AI doesn't create or control any people. The people you see walking and driving around where created using the Person Magnet mod located on the Steam Workshop.
      There is one custom skyscraper which came from a mod located on the transportfever.net site mentioned above. Here's a direct link to that mod:

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 5 lety +1

      I used over 400 mods when I made this map. So a lot of the little details you see will not be in a regularly played game. I manually placed literally everything except for some of the water. Some of the buildings came from mods and need to be placed manually. The rest of the buildings are from the game. Although I placed these buildings manually on this map, the AI will also place them on your maps if you have any large modern cities. So if you play the game in the normal manor into the modern era you will end up with cities that look something like this. But not as detailed and with less variety.
      If you look around on the internet you can find pictures of massive cities that people have made while playing the game in the regular manor. (By regular manor I mean not using mods to manually place things on the map.)
      Or to give you a shorter answer. Go for it. You'll like the modern cities. :)

      As for making a video showing this map I'm not sure if it's worth it. I made this map differently than my previous attempts. In my previous attempts I build up the whole world, even the unseen parts. So those maps could be viewed from any angle. In this map I tried to only build up the areas seen in the videos. So while this map looks great from certain angles it is incomplete. I did this on purpose so that I could add more stuff within the videos while still keeping the frame rate reasonable.

      @General_Tso  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes and no. I started with a random map. Then I removed everything so that there was only grass and water. Then I flattened a large portion of the map. Then I had placed everything you see. I also used somewhere between 400 and 500 mods.

      The signals I used on this map have two states. Red for stop and green for go. They don't have a yellow state.

      Unfortunately the saved game requires close to 500 mods. Including a few that are no longer available. So it would probably not be possible for you to get it working. And even if it is possible it would still take a lot more work than you are probably interested in doing. Sorry about that.

    What year you have?

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 4 lety

      It was sometime after 2000. I'm not certain what year it is in game without loading up the saved game. The actual year didn't matter in this case because I used mods to enable any vehicle that I wanted to use regardless of the current in-game year. And every stationary item (including all buildings) where placed using mods also.

    Mods list please!

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 5 lety

      I'm sorry but I used hundreds of mods and I don't know of anyway to list them other than to scroll through the list in game and manually type them out one by one. Since I can't give you a complete list I'll give you some idea of how I went about collecting my mods.
      Almost all of the mods came from the Steam Workshop but I also picked up a dozen or so here:
      www.transportfever.net/filebase/index.php/Filebase/?s=bfcd6a854911c2e7ec89b46341c5e7e29dd84c52
      As far as which mods I used. First I pick an era for my video. For example the video on this page is modern while some of my other video where late steam age. Then I just download every mod that looks interesting and that applies to that era. That includes bridges, buildings, automobiles, wagons, locomotives, etc...
      There are also a lot of modding tools that come in real handy. The no cost mod included with the game is a must have for making videos. There are also a bunch of mods for things like flattening terrain, changing terrain type, adding ploppable buildings, adding modified rails and roads, adding lakes and streams, etc... I ended up pretty much going through Steam and looking at just about every mod available.
      One word of caution. A very small number of mod have special conditions. There are a few that can't be activated when you start a new game. For example one of the building mods and one of the terrain mods cause weird things to happen if they are active when the map is created. These mods mention the problem on there web page. All you need to do is wait to add them later when loading a saved game rather then adding them at game startup.
      Then there are other mods such as new bridges or rail types that have the opposite problem. If these mods are added after the map is started they can cause bridges or rails that are already placed on the map to change to a different type. So you want to add your new bridge, new rail, (and possibly new road) mods when you start the game.
      Other than the stuff mentioned above mods in Transport Fever tend to be easy to add (although you can't always remove them easily). If you have any questions about individual mods I can try to answer them for you.

    Year ?

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 4 lety

      I don't recall the exact year. But I started the game in the year 2000 and the video was probably taken a few years after that. I started with a map that was just plain grass and water - nothing else. And then I manually added everything. So the current year doesn't really mater.
