Transport Fever 2 - Point City Express - Cockpit View

  • In this video you are riding in a Shinkansen 800 multiple unit train. The entire video was recorded using the game Transport Fever 2 in cockpit mode. It looks best when playback quality is set to 1440p.
    The line you are riding on is a passenger line and is my longest to date. It usually takes around 53 minutes to do one complete cycle. Other than a few very short pieces near some of the stations. The train never runs over the same piece of track twice.
    The map used to create this video is very active and includes a lot of interesting scenarios. There is a large multiple city complex at the center of the map. With Point City being the largest city in the group. And of course there are plenty of trains!
    This video uses a large number of mods. Thank you to all of the mod makers who make Transport Fever 2 a better game!
    Please note: There are several spots on this video where there is some bad stuttering. Unfortunately at this point I can't do anything about this video. Fortunately I have some ideas on how to get rid of the stuttering in the future. If my ideas work then my next video should be better in this regard.

    Hopefully the layout can open up enough so the Express is not stopped all the time by other trains. And hopefully someone mods out the horrid black smoke on late-era industry - most modern factories have scrubbers and filters and the like.
    Well done, 9/10! Room for improvement, but nevertheless remarkable considering the games limitations.

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 3 lety

      Thanks. I'm glad you like it.
      Yeah. I agree the thick puffy smoke looks bad. At least the industry buildings (in cities) looks a little better than the factories.
      I probably shouldn't have called it a express train. Because I purposely put some of the stops in just as a change of pace.
      I'm getting ready to release a new video. It's about the same length and only has 3 stops and they are all at stations. Of course I didn't think to call the new one an express train. I guess I got that whole thing backwards. ;)

    when you get into point city getting near the station it looks like your approaching Chicago Union Staton

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 3 lety +1

      Cool! Thanks for mentioning that. What's kind of funny is that I used a satellite view map of Chicago for ideas before starting this map. It was kind of fun zooming in and following the railroad tracks around. :)
      I wasn't trying to build the city of Chicago in the game but I guess some of what I was looking at must have rubbed off.

      A medium map. I used the map editor to create a medium map that was just level grass and nothing else. That's what I started with.

  • @umberto8018
    @umberto8018 Před 3 lety +3

    My compliments as always. Could you build a three story station? The first level would be underground. The second level is at street level. The third level is above everything. If you know the compass rose, take a piece of paper, make a point in the center and the lines will go through that point. The first level runs from north to south. Level 0 at street level runs from west to east. The third level runs from north-northeast to south-southwest. Look DAS + / I + / overlap these symbols and you will understand.

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 3 lety +1

      It is probably possible. But I'm not certain. In the Steam workshop there is a underground station mod and a elevated station mod. If you combine both of them with a regular station. It might be possible.
      When I build a map that's used for making a video. I try to only add things that can be seen in the video in order to limit video stutter. So combining all three station types wouldn't be a good idea in that situation. Because the person viewing the video would never see all 3 stations at once. But if you want to do it. It might be possible as I described above.

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yeah they are all placed manually. This video has cities that were built by the game and then I added a bunch of stuff. But with some of my other videos I started with a blank map and add everything. So they were even more fun. :)

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 11 měsíci +1

      It's been long enough since I made the video that I'm not sure how many trains there are over all. But I tried to make as many trains visible as possible while keeping the over all number low as possible. (To help with the FPS.)

  •  Před 3 lety

    2:25 how do you get that kind of rail? No needing for big space to change tracks?

    • @General_Tso
      @General_Tso  Před 3 lety

      I laid the track in the normal fashion. If you are not familiar with double slip switches. That might be what is confusing you. In the game after you create a intersection by laying a track across another track. You can then click on the intersection and a option will appear allowing you to change it to a double slip switch. There is one exception. If the angle of the intersection is to extreme in either direction then the double slip switch option is not available. If you try messing around making intersections at different angle. You will be able to get a feel of when you can and can not make double slip switches.

      I'm using over 200 mods and unfortunately I don't know of anyway to get a list of all of them. And unfortunately the list is to long to manually create it. So sorry but I can't provide a list.
      If it's any help. I got all of my mod's from two places...
      1. The TF2 Steam Workshop -> steamcommunity.com/app/1066780/workshop/
      2. The TF2 .net website -> www.transportfever.net/filebase/index.php?filebase/80-transport-fever-2/
      I used most of the building mods and landscape mods that I could find. And many of the rail and vehicle mods that applied to the era of the video (modern).
