  • When I arrived to service a boiler, I initially did a tightness test and thought I could smell gas when i opened the cupboard door that housed the gas meter. I did the tightness test and it passed so I excepted that it must not have been gas that I smelt, however it was gas......

I had a similar issue after a new boiler was put in. When Scottish Gas Networks came to repair the issue they advised it is usually caused by the screw being over tightened when it is replaced after the tightness test.

Yes. This was the first year service of this boiler. I didn't fit the boiler. An online company fitted it so i think they did their tightness test after it was installed and yes possibly over tightened but then it was left for possibly a year till i came...

It happens. Yet don't say "smelt gas" those are scary words. I say to the client don't do it🤫. It changes everything 😅.
