On Friday Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen took to Instagram to announce their divorce after nearly 14 years of marriage. But it seems their relationship fate was sealed long before this, with Isla said to have made contact with a divorce lawyer two years ahead of their break-up reveal. But at what point should you actually call off the relationship for good? For Coleen, making the decision to divorce was very hard, especially with kids involved, and a step she only took after exploring all other avenues. Katie says she can see how seeing a divorce lawyer in secret could be a really good way for women - who are often more financially repressed in marriage- to explore their options before making any big decisions.

My dad’s friend’s wife engaged a forensic accountant to go through his business accounts without consulting him… while they were married (and they’re strangely still married!). She clearly spoke to a lawyer.
