- Amanda Riley is a wife. A mother. A blogger. And suffering from stage four cancer… at least that’s what she’d like you to believe. For almost a decade Amanda took thousands in donations from loved ones, neighbours, fellow churchgoers and her social media followers, but her cancer diagnosis was all a lie. Her huge financial and emotional scam was eventually uncovered by investigative journalist Nancy Moscatiello, who ultimately helped police put Amanda behind bars. And the story has now been heard around the world in Charlie Webster’s chart-topping podcast ‘Scamanda’. But why did Amanda do this? And how did she get away with it for so long? We’re joined live in the studio by Charlie, who has been speaking to Amanda while she remains in prison, and Nancy joins us DTL to talk about helping rumble this cancer-faking scam.

This makes me so mad. From someone who was diagnosed on 07/21/23 with cancer NHL . This story upsets me I go tomorrow for my 4th chemo treatment and having to deal with life as a mom and a wife and a full time worker and struggling just to keep the lights on. This woman is just cruel. Thank goodness she was discovered.

@dedeescrafts2885 - Same here - mine is Stage 4 too. And as I seem to be doing well and living as normal a life as possible, I sometimes think people don't believe it and think I'm some sort of a fraud too! I'm not, I have good days and bad days like most people do but they don't see me when I'm not so good. Anyway, I'll have to listen to the podcast too. Wishing you well in your treatment plan.

Absolutely disgusting! I'm 33 and I've just had a tumor removed and went under a massive surgery!! I found out I had cancer luckily it was removed! The Truma I went through was horrific!! To hear someone has lied about having cancer is very disgusting and absolutely crazy!! If someone can lie about that they are definitely not safe to be on the streets. Terrible so bad!

She wanted money & postive fame. This show has always shown big stories that aren’t big enough to go on the main news. By showing this they’re showing how clever & extreme scammers can truly be.
She fought very very hard to NOR have this kind of stardom. She wanted to be liked. This will suck for her. And her Husband needs to be held accountable
People need to hear this story so that their money doesn’t end up in the wrong hands.
So that there is nowhere she can go where people don't know her scam.

There has been quite a bit of this individuals lying about having cancer...angers me- my grandmother passed away to cancer.....this lieyers don't have a clue the harm they are causing to current cancer cases. 😞😠
Nope they don’t. My great aunt died three days before thanksgiving last year due to colon cancer that spread everywhere including her lungs. There was nothing more that could be done and she was in hospice for about a week before she passed. Just lying about being extremely sick when they aren’t baffles my mind. Wonder if they actually get cancer in the future? They won’t get any help then.
I lost my wife to cancer 15 years ago this is disrespectful

As a Cancer survivor myself , I'm finding it hard to be compassionate to a person that does this. There unfortunately is people still fighting this terrible disease that have no way out!! Its a death sentence for so many people!! The adverse effects the treatments can have isnt something you would wish anyone to have to go through at all!! I feel really sad that someone would stoop so low!! For all the survivors and the people going through this or have lost someone , I'm sending my thoughts to you all. 🌸

Hi I'm her cousin and she had us all fooled we donated hundreds to her GoFundMe we sent gifts etc we have all disowned her she's a terrible person.

My two aunts died with cancer youngest was in her late 30s the other 60s and my dear big cousin he was and IS THE nicest person you will ever meet he got cancer a few years ago and had passed within a few months n he was only 40 yrs and we will never get to see him again but his miracle wee boy does not have his fav person now. This makes me sick to my stomach and feel so ashamed that there is people in the human race that does this. R.I.P to my family and to anyone who has had a loved one who had/has this dreadful disease. And to the people that has been left behind❤🤍🤎💛🖤
There's been lots who have lied about having cancer, Maddy Russo, Belle Gibson are 2 names but theres so so many out there. Its scary that people do this. There's innocent people who actually have cancer and need help qnd and supp😊

We should be allowed to see verified medical records from the people that share their illnesses online. Doctor patient confidentiality goes out the window when you tell a sad story of your diagnosis to the world in order to get money and attention

There have been many women who fake cancer all you have to do is put fake cancer victims and they all pop up even on CZcams. I am all ways amazed when people act shocked that anyone would do something like this the world is full of weirdos .
I cared for terminally ill patients and saw how they suffered with cancer it was heartbreaking and to see these liars making money out of misery of cancers and fatal diseases why I’m sickened by them

My nan had breast cancer stage 3 she died in 8 months 😢 worst pain ever seeing my nan going down each day and people like that to fake it its horrible to have people are like that disgusting people out there now going through cancer 😢

Cool video, My relationship of 5 years ended a month ago. The love of my life decided to leave me, I really love her so much I can’t stop thinking about her, I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail, I’m frustrated, I don’t see my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts of her, but I can’t, I don’t know why I’m saying this here, I really miss her and just can’t stop thinking about her.

I think this kind of compulsive lying can be a psychiatric disorder in some way. They start off doing it with a plan or purpose and then they start believing their own lies and can’t stop lying (like a compulsion) all the time afterwards. I am not making any excuses for her and think she should have got an even harsher sentence! That is despicable behaviour.
but it's all about money with this person, if it was just about lying she wouldn't be to keep asking for money constantly. I think there are a lot of scammers out there who lie about dating, health, crimes, drugs, being poor, identity etc all just to scam people out of money, they will keep up the lie to keep getting the donations.
