  • Finding it hard to sleep? Well if so, you’re not alone as recent research suggests women are getting far less sleep than men in what is being termed the Gender Sleep Gap. But what do our women make of this? Brenda seems to be the only woman around getting her eight hours every night, meanwhile poor Janet doesn’t think she’s slept for more than two hours at a time in the past decade!

I'm a grandmother now so to all those of you who are suffering now, dont despair, when they've flown the nest, your time is your own, pure bliss. Janet is spot on about body aches and pains as you age too, always at night.

Women are more likely to go to the doctor than men, imo. How many of the men there went because they wanted to vs how many went because the wife said go? I think that is a factor. I think all of us have different issues and don't even realize it. I recently slept with a weighted blanket and didn't realize how tense and anxious I was until I wasn't. It was wonderful but life is hectic, even if it isn't, especially if you watch the television and the internet. Some programming is worse than others but it all adds an energy to the mix that gets tiring. Somedays just existing is exhausting.

People have different body clocks some are early risers some are late risers, I’ve tried everything I’ve even done food diaries and food restriction, I’ve had no phones tv ect for upto 5 hours! Before bed. Layed in bed for 5 hours in the dark ect. The only thing that’s worked are dr prescribed sleeping tablets every day! If not I’m often up upto 48 hours a time then a few hours kip then up another 27 hours then an excessive sleep to catch up and so on. It’s worth trying everything you can but it doesn’t always work. Things like stresses and repressed memories can also cause issues with sleep

Yes, definitely. Especially if you have kids as the woman is more likely to get up if they wake up in the night.

The lady talking about pain, sometimes they don’t know what it is, plenty of times I’ve had to do the research myself and suggest things to my dr for them to realise oh yeah that makes sense. You can get nerve damage and get shocks from that, you can get numb and tingling ect. Sometimes a burning pain, worse in winter and your leg/arm may go cold or even a greenish blue

My dark eye circles never disappeared 14 years on, swear those first 8 months of severely broken sleep or none has taken 5 years of my lifespan, men are lucky in a majority they get out of it one way or another, have to admit though always had bouts of insomnia still do, but even when they sleep through the night it's difficult to sleep again, you sleep train your kids then have to sleep train yourself lol
