First of all, whether Umar deserves it or not, it was Cory who wanted & asked for this fight. He was promised by the UFC that it is a no. 1 contender fight after Merab's turn.
Im picking Umar to win not bec of his last name. Granted he hasnt fought anyone ranked, but so does Islam before he got the belt.
Im picking Umar bec Fight Stats are usually 95% accurate majority of the time. This is also why I picked Islam to beat Charles back in 2022 (& I always get my predictions right).
Umar has 1 of the highest striking accuracy of 70% (in the whole UFC roster), he's also recorded as a fighter with the lowest SSaPM (Significant Strikes absorbed per Minute) with only 0.56 strikes per minute (lowest not just in the whole roster, but in UFC history, even lower than Islam's) means this dude rarely gets hit. And most of all, he has 100% Takedown Defense. So if Cory attempts to shoot like what he did against Font, he'll just get reversed.
I dont know why u said Umar has basic striking. His striking style is a combination of Taekwondo & Muay Thai. A lot of his finishes are kicks with punches. Also if he takes someone down, he either goes for GNP or Submission immediately.
Didnt u see how Cory performed in his last fight with Rob Font? He just laid & prayed on top of him. Did not even attempt to GNP or submit Font. He's just lauing on top. So if he's gonna go the wrestling route against Umar, he'll just get slaughtered.
Ppl like you always tend to choose the vet over the prospect, saying "This vet will fraud-check this prospect". Not in the case of Umar.
Also last UFC300, I said to my friends Arman will beat Charles. You can have all the wishful thinking of u want this fighter to fraud-check a new prospect but like I said, Fight Stats are accurate majority of the time.

Sandhagen striking with Umar won't be enough. A rd 3 sandhagen getting ground and pounded for 3 rounds will make rds 4 and 5 easier for Umar. Ref stoppage late 4th, or 5th. Good stoppage.

Nonsense. Recently Poirier just fought someone who is on 5 win streaks. Umar has 16 or 17 win streaks and is more deserving?!
