- For centuries, Aru pearls have been renowned for their purity and beauty. They are the most precious resource of these remote islands.
From September to November, Babar dives for oysters, using a traditional, ancestral method.
All these oysters are sold to specialized farms, where they are operated on. After this delicate operation, they are gathered together and permitted to age peacefully in the water and produce pearls.

I am about to finish touring the whole world with Slice
Hi slice, it's funny to watch this documentary. My ancestors travels thousands of miles only to take the shell of the pearl. The value of the shell in my community is price less. It can bought life, bride, land and amongst many other thing.
Traveling in a sailing canoe guided by star 🌟

15:19 i'm impressed with that great big oyster the pearler reached right into and grabbed that handful of oyster meat out of, i can only imagine how good it tastes steamed with butter and garlic, with a side of rice 😃

The exchange rate used in this video was from way back before Suharto fell in 1998. In 1997 the exchange rate was roughly 2,000 Rupiah to $ 1 United States dollar. Currently in April 2023 the exchange rate is 15,000 Rupiah per $ 1.00 U.S. dollar. These people make very little for their hard work.
😇
Mantap 👍
Fantastis
Full support..
wow very nice sir
I hope safety becomes more of a priority, if I was a wealthy man I would assist with good Oxygen equipment or any thing else to help the remove the danger they face when diving. It's pleasant to observe people still living that kind of simply life. Away from the hutsel and bustle of a city.
Very true a simple life is good ☺️ Kathyrn
They have good equipment- scuba gear. Apparently they need training for properly and safely using it
Oxygen for tanks is in very short supply currently
wow👏👏👏

The first thing I think about when watching this is - salt water crocs.
judging from the 20000 banknote, this documentary should be 20 years old, at least.
More please
Ini aru tahun 80 an, masih menyelam cari siput mutiara, secara tradisional
Bumi Jargaria ❤️
Sinse when diving with scuba gear was the traditional way?
1966 i was living at This Islands group collect
I feel like most of these documentaries were made decades ago tho..so much can happen in time like people adopting new lifestyles that usually bring more pollution and corruption etc...
Indonesia my city
🌹
I believe this documentary from 90s
Only filling the bottles half way in fear of explosion is probably the craziest part of the hole film
how long ago this flimed?
must be late 90's or early 2000's based on the money they use to trade early in the documentary.
Men works hard for a survival
And? Only because he’s poor 😂 I’m sure you work hard to pay bills 😂
22:29 Beautiful
wheres the pearl?
LOL...inside of the oysters. They cannot open the shell until it's mature.
Indonesia timur mantap
ITS Ferry funny your documentary vidio

The math never checks out. 6 oysters a day at 3 bucks a piece? But only 35 bucks a month? That doesn't even cover fuel for the boat.
What year was this video taken?
Dobo iland maluku so beutiful
salam dari indonesia bagi yang masih menonton video ini 😀

This is very old documentary
The money they used are the 1992 edition
Great video. you've remind me of what someone once said❤️ "The mind is the man, the poor is in it and the rich is it too". This sentence is the secret of most successful investors. I once attended similar and ever since then i been waxing strong financially, and i most tell you the truth..
