    I didn’t want to brag, but since you asked, I got mine the very first moment. It’s fantastic in every way. Push yourself back in the seat, and it holds you in a position that forms a stable triangle. A semi aggressive stance, yet comfortable. She’s fast, she’s beautiful, she’s sexy, she’s so hot. My other bikes are like 😭, but I don’t care. Sometimes it takes years to get a bike the way I want it. This bike is so nearly perfect, it only took a month, and very little money. I’ve got fifty years in the saddle, and never been so stoked to ride. Let’s ride!

    I’m up in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the U.S. I put my money down on the FTR 1200 S Race Replica in February and it arrived just over 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I had my 500 mile break in service so it’s official, I can finally ride it to its potential! I’m just over 6ft tall and it fits me like a glove. The pro-taper handlebars feel like my dirt bikes and I will absolutely confess that it handles all of the different roads I’ve given it, to the winding forest canyon paved roads to even logging trails and dirt roads. Speed and power? This is absolutely a fast bike with amazing engine breaking. Combine that with the adjustable suspension front and back and the versatility of the brakes and you have yourself a very controllable bike.
    As I mentioned before yesterday was my break in service and I woke up to 20mph winds and pouring rain with a 25 mile ride to the dealer. The S model has three different riding modes (rain, standard, sport) that change the feel of the electronic throttle as well as other differences. I switched the riding mode to ‘Rain’ and was never more comfortable in such conditions even on my crazy canyon carving forest roads. I’m in love 😍

      Very nice. Enjoy it. So I assume you think the S model is worth the extra cost?

    • @dogmediasolutions
      @dogmediasolutions Před 5 lety +2

      Randy Barrett, the extra cost wasn’t just for the cosmetics (even though the red frame and tank are really nice). What I realized when purchasing was that the Akrapovic exhaust to buy separately came out to just about the same amount. They truly are a great addition. The bike is def pricey but everything from the pro tapers to the height and dual purpose (I DO ride it on dirt) were a fit for me. I tried out quite a few bikes and this one fit my frame and my vertical riding style. I’m still very pleased after approx 3weeks and 1200 miles local (imagine woods, lotsa hills and 26 curves on clean county roads just to get to the post office! ...and pot store, I live in Washington State 🤣)

      @davidcook7847 Před 4 lety

      @@dogmediasolutions Do you have the optional higher pro taper bar or the standard one that comes with it? I'm used to naked bikes and it seems like the standard bar would be the best comparison.

    I test rode the 1200 S today and I'm still numb from excitement. It's brutal in a way that can be controlled even by someone who's not an expert, with superlative balance around corners and lightning response even with traction control on. It actually kicks in at 4th gear when giving it gas to keep it from doing a wheelie. The only details I found that I'd change on it are the footpegs, which are too slippy and hard to keep your foot on, and the turn signal switch because it could use a bit more tactile feedback.

    Nice review. I enjoyed riding both models, but the S is the one that impresses - with it's color touch-screen TFT and fully-adjustable suspenders etc, I struggle to understand why they offer the base model?

  • @ntdfmaverick
    @ntdfmaverick Před 5 lety +1

    I rode one too at a demo ride event! I agree with everything you said. It was fun. The "S" model comes with a much better flat panel display with a tachometer, which you'd want with this bike. My only comment would be that I don't know why everyone's in a rush to compare this to a Sportster? It in no way, shape, or form is the FTR the same style of bike. If I wanted to buy a Sportster, I wouldn't be considering an FTR, or vice-versa. The FTR is also significantly more expensive, once you honestly compare the prices. I'd be comparing the FTR to supermoto bikes from Europe or Japan.

    • @Motonewbrider
      @Motonewbrider  Před 5 lety +1

      Just to clarify buddy, and on my behalf I didn't elaborate further in the review. I've seen so many sportsters and street rods customised as trackers and I've also seen the overall cost of this. My observation from this is that customer now has a great Indian FTR 1200 which is great value for money.

I wish HD had this kind of get up and go in their stock bikes without having to spend thousands in upgrades while in many cases still not getting this much hp. I still love my Harleys but sure wish they had this kind of performance especially in their Sportster line! I think Indian might lose a some sells due to the height of this bike for vertically challenged riders.

    The price Indian are asking for this cheap looking thing are KTM Super Duke territory or MT-10 which would spank the Indian in all areas, different class of bikes I know but still street bikes.
    I wouldn't compare it to anything HD currently make,maybe models in the Triumph range or Ducati range.
    Worst decision Polaris industries ever did was drop the Victory name and then proceed to murder the Indian name.
    Let's wait and see what HD come out with over the next 12-18 months in response to this Indian!

      Finally someone speaks the truth. First off all the Polaris fan boys mention HD they do not make a bike in this class. In this class KTM, Honda, Yamaha all make bikes cheaper that destroy the Polaris. And no one is mentioning all the typical for Polaris issues. Overheating, stalling, rough cold running, coolant leaks. As usual Polaris plagued with issues.

      KTM and Yam isn't my territory on this occasion. So your input is great in that area. I would say that HD customise lots of their street rods and sportsters to look and perform like trackers. My input was an observation that this look from indian is greater value for money vs HD ( streetrod & sportster custom trackers ).

      @fyorbane Před 5 lety +2

      Ktm Super Duke is way more expensive. A base MT-10 is similar in price to this. However the MT-10 looks ghastly next to the Indian. It looks unfinished , cheap and plasticy. Ktm's have there issues as well you know. So your comments don't really make sense. Let's see how these new FTR's are in terms of reliability and ownership. They are too new for you to pass unfair comments on.
