  • Indian FTR 1200 commute review by KNOX
    Having had the Indian FTR1200 for around 3 months and around 500 miles, it made sense for us to make a few videos on this bike, including this Indian FTR 1200 commuting review. We’ll be following this video up with a more detailed and planned review, but this is just some thoughts on a typical commute to work on the bike, what it is like and how it behaves, what is great and some small downsides we’ve found.
    In short, the FTR1200 is an incredible bike and a very different offering to the current crop of tamer motorcycles currently available and we absolutely love it!
    So please ignore some of the waffle, make yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy the FTR 1200 motovlog review!
    In the video, we refer to some Knox products that are shown, these are as below:

    Knox Orsa Leather MKII Glove - www.planet-kno...
    Richmond MKII Jeans - www.planet-kno...
    Knox 2020 collection - www.planet-kno...
    We also referred to the Jekyl and Hyde Exhaust system for the Indian FTR1200, this is available here configurator.j...
    Finally, all the latest specification and images of the Indian FTR1200 are available here www.indianmoto...
    Hope you enjoyed this video on the Indian FTR 1200, please like, comment and subscribe for more!

    Its like a big bore 2 stroke dirt bike for the street. Instant power off the bottom and a nice second power band around 6 grand. Wheelies like a dirt bike off the throttle. You need more practice like you said. Six inch travel suspension, 19 inch front and 18 inch rear wheels let it roll over the junk roads here in the north east US. Great review.

    Always Excellent reviews!!! I wrote a comment regarding cold weather riding and how it ran excellent in cold weather but you are correct, she wants to be warmed up first. No battery issues yet. I enjoy you accurate and educating reviews. Keep up the great reviews. If ever in the states you have free room and board here in the beautiful Shenandoah valley in Lexington Virginia. Be safe brother.

    Local Indian dealer had a demo day and I took two of these (rally and S) for a test run. I am a die hard Honda fan and I was used to feeling "meh" after Harley's demo days, but man I was blown away by the FTR 1200. Plenty of power but I really like how the brakes and suspension are just as good. So you get a complete and balanced package. Was grinning ear to ear the entire time. Hands down the best of Indian if you ask me. If you can throw a leg over it do it. You'll be hooked.

    Wonderful video. Please do more like this and don’t be shy about talking about the gear you’re wearing too. Maybe when getting off the bike you and one of the team chat about the Knox Gear. It’s always nice to see the read world, rather than the studio world.

    Best review so far. I got my FTR S version for 9 months, and I ride it every single day. It's an absolute blast in life to own this bike. It have gaps like any other bike, I hate to put gas on it for example, it took to long to refill full tank...
    I don't switch this bike for any other, and you'll only understand when you ride one. Cheers!

    My "dreambike"!! Since competing on dirt (motocross) this would suite like a glow. I´m fairly short, but then again, i´m used to it, and i´m used to aggressive bikes (althrougt not 1200cc). Saving money and hopefully i´ll there´l come day when i can afford one. Thanks for the review, it just screams fun and joy!!

    I demo rode the s spec, loved it and couldn't think of anything else except how great it would be for a commuter. I wouldn't waste the money for the s spec though. Felt great at speed though i dont like nakeds at freeway speeds. The kickstand is a big hard to reach but loved the SUV like upright seating.

    I bet somebody already told you but there were some battery issues on some bikes produced in an certain time. Normaly you won't need to charge the battery all the time so i am pretty sure the test bike you got there is one of them with the battery problem.

    I loved everything about this video, including the riding gear, but ESPECIALLY the bike. I'm an American, so it's refreshing to see this badass bruiser of a bike get its proper respect across the pond... because, let's be honest, Europe has a better selection of bikes. You all aren't pressured into the "ride a big, slow Harley or you're a p****" type of mentality. So, if you all think it's a boss bike, then it's a boss bike. Thanks for the epic vids, be safe, and "keep the shiny side up!" 🤙

    500 miles, thats a small tour across the country :| I mean, I drove it 100km on my test ride. I think you can't give a 'good' or fair review of the bike with such a small sample size. In case you read this message considering buying this bike: It rides fantastic, even for beginners(it was my second motorcycle I wrote and had 0 problems) - it has power for every situation, you can cruise and race. Sure it has no superb top speed but I bet a good junk of money that you are faster than your 1000cc Honda friend because you have so much torque when you come out of corners and the handeling in corners is so easy. The V-twin is very easy to handle and everything is built so well on this machine but here comes the big BUT (:D) the price is 3, maybe 5 thousand euros too high imo for this machine. You can get a Panigale V2 for an FTR - think about it. So many features that this baby doesn't have - Even the S Version doesn't have a Quickshifter and that in thishigh end category. But everyone who doesn't have to twice about money and don't won't to go 300km/h on the road - this is your bike - enjoy it, it is fantastic and build to have fun - not for speed freaks that hunt for top PS. I had so much fun on this bike, everything came natural, clutch, brakes, torque curve, handeling, only two negative points I wanto to point out: The price and you are limited in your choice when it comes to tires!

    • @KnoxArmour
      @KnoxArmour  Před 4 lety

      Hi, in that case, no magazine or publication can ever review anything in a good or fair way... most publications ride the bikes for 100-200 miles before publishing reviews. Anyway thanks for your feedback and comments. Thanks, Aaron KNOX

    This sounds like a worthy replacement for my Buell XB2X which is only 1 cc smaller. Only it's about 30 kg heavier, and is it really any quicker? Whatever revs you open it up? i do like it, though, and if I got one, it would be the base model.
    Those clips in the wet: you tried to make it do that with heavy-handed throttle use. The Buell would be just the same if ridden like that.
    I reckon the performance is very similar, throughout the rev range, having watched the whole video.

    • @KnoxArmour
      @KnoxArmour  Před 4 lety +2

      Actually, I haven't tried the Buell XB2X, so difficult to say! Yes in some of the wet clips, I did give it a bit of a hand, but in others, I was quite smooth, it doesn't take that much to get it going. I haven't personally experienced another bike that does that (not that there arent others out there), nor have I experienced a bike that delivers such an easily controllable rear wheel slide. Thanks, Aaron KNOX.

      @user-sw2lv3zp6o Před 4 lety

      @@KnoxArmour Thanks for replying, Aaron. The FTR sure is the type of bike I like [hence the old Buell]. The 235 kg wet weight does put me off slightly, but it must be low down as the petrol is under the seat.
      Excellent video.

      I have an FTR 1200s and it’s the only bike where rain mode is worthwhile lol. The stock Dunlop is not enough tire for the bike, in my opinion. Even in the dry the traction control kicks in like crazy in first and second gear pinned. In truth it’s probably not faster than your Buell though, or at least not enough to tell. PS, I have a Buell Xb9 lightning and I love it!

    • @KnoxArmour
      @KnoxArmour  Před 4 lety +1

      Sure you'd be fine, its just not for guys jumping off smaller capacity bikes, nor for the faint hearted. Some of the power delivery of the machine is a just a bit raw, like the power slides in the wet and the anger of the acceleration just takes a bit of experience. Thanks, Aaron KNOX
