- Given they're the only group they seem to invite back since they won, i think that shows how popular this group is as they're most likely the only successful group out of all of the winners lol. I wish they had done a remix from a current chart topper instead but this was nice to hear too.

Jordan Harrington that's because they had several videos go viral. Most of one's current fans did not discover them on the sing off. The sing off has its niche audience of ppl who are already a capella enthusiasts.

Being able to sing their own song at 2:26 in the competition with which they emerged victorious from is without doubt epic. That must have been a really happy and amazing moment for them. For me it was like they're saying to the contestants in the competition "Yeah this is how it's done bitches!" LOL Pentatonix is just simply amazing

Fun story bout me that literally nobody asked for:
so this was Dec 2014 and i was 11. i turned on the TV in my apartment and saw this big holiday special of a show called the sing-off that I'd never heard of. When i put it on i saw that Patrick Stump was a judge and 11 year old me was a huge FOB fan (still am but less now) so i was like "sure I'll watch this. i got time" so i put it on. immediately was astounded from the opening performance like "dang these people can sing" got invested in all 6 groups and started picking a favorite to win (picked the Melodores at round 1 :D) and then during the halfway break, they were like 'ok here's the season three winners here to perform' and i was like "oh coooool" so i listened, immediately fell in love with all five of them. It was an instant connection. I loved the vibe, the members, the voices like UgH why are they so good (i especially fell in love with Mitch and still am) and so that happened, i watched the rest of the special and that was that. later that day i decided to investigate into this mysterious band further. I listened to their legendary Daft Punk Medley and fell further. I immersed myself in all of their interviews, Q&A's and performances, grew to learn all the lore I could about them and here I am over 6 years later at 17 years old. They're still my absolute favorite band, Mitch Grassi is my favorite singer on the planet, and i listen to their music on repeat every couple of months for a month or so. All came from me deciding to watch Patrick Stump judge an a capella competition.

Nick needs to work on his intro. He forgot to say that Ptx wrote that last song in the medley (Christmas To Me), and that among all of their other MANY successes, they've now been nominated for a Grammy for their arrangement of the Daft Punk medley!
He also relegated them to "pop" status. What a putz! lol These guys are SO much more than just a pop group! Not that there's anything wrong with being a pop group, lol. That label doesn't begin to cover what they're capable of!!

Thank god the Sing Off always balances their mikes correctly. They're like the only show that does justice to the sound of PTX/ I'm so glad they didn't only do Santa Clause is Coming to Town. They did that during their performance at Rockfeller, and I have to say that out of all the songs on their album, that one is their weakest. So I was very happy to hear them mix it up with Hark the Herald and That's Christmas to Me (one of the most beautiful Christmas songs to date).

I could see wear "Santa" would be a favorite to perform, since it's got such a wildly fun vibe to it, but it's definitely not favorite. As an instrumentalist, my favorite was "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy."
I think Sing Off should ALWAYS balance their mics, considering that it's essential for every member of an acapella group to be heard, and basses and beatboxers are hard to hear. It's an acapella competition, so yeah.
Anyways, I agree with this wholeheartedly.

john laurenson +Kristine Silmaro This is because a lot of the balancing is done in post. What you're hearing on the telly, and on this vid, is not the balance that the crowd will have heard. One of the SO sound engineers explains it really well in a post on the I Need Your Love vid filmed on the same show.
Radio shows and other shows, it's mostly done live, there is no post-production; that's why it's not balanced well, alas.
I knooooow. Whenever I would hear them preform live after the sing off they never sounded the way they sounded on the show which was a shame.
They're kind of unnatural, aren't they? Sometimes I'm just watching them and thinking that it's like they've been put together for a movie or something and it's not really these five people singing live - carefully chosen actors with a highly edited soundtrack added on later. They're _too_ good.

I do love that how after all this time, Shaun is still confused at how Pentatonix kills it so much.
I think 99.9% of us can agree that this was an amazing performance (myself included). Singing my whole life has taught me to truly appreciate Pentatonix even more. If the average person understood just how difficult some of the stuff they are doing to pull off is... the would like this group x100. I'd much rather this stuff be on the radio than all the same chopped up mishmashed shit that is on these days. These folks individually have a ton of talent, but together they are pure magic. Whoever put this group together is not only a genius but incredibly lucky. This is one of these best groups ever to make music on planet earth.
This holiday season I caught one or two of their songs on the radio, but over half the stores I went into xmas shopping had their second xmas album playing as their holiday music.
Well, who put Pentatonix together? The members did. Three of them grew up together. Then they sought more members, Avi and Kevin, and wallah! Pentatonix was born!
Yes! But also they put themselves together. Scott, Kirstie, and Mitch were a trio but wanted to expand and they found Avi through a mutual friend and Scott found Kevin on CZcams. That's what's even better about Pentatonix. It wasn't formed like 1D or other groups by an entity but by themselves :)
One of the best? They ARE the best! In the world!

In response to the uploader, I think they chose to do their Christmas medley, first of all because it was The Sing-Off "Holiday" Spectacular and because of how popular and successful their Christmas album is. I'm not sure when this was filmed but by the time it aired, That's Christmas To Me was just shy of going Platinum.

I know! :) I saw the news on tumblr when it happened. I was just saying that by the time The Sing Off aired, they weren't platinum yet. I think it aired on Dec. 17/18 and they went platinum on Dec, 24. I was just saying that since their holiday album was hugely popular, that might have been why they chose to do a medley from it.

PTX has put acapella back on the mainstream. There was good groups in the 90s and it faded away. Thanks to PTX it got back on the mainstream radar and has allowed groups like Coice Play and Home Free to get recognized
Not like they usually sound bad, but is it me or do they always sound better than usual when they do a guest performance on the show. They sound so clean
i think it's because all of their mics were balance here..while in other show, most of the time their mics were not balance and mostly we couldn't really hear avi or kevin or sometimes mitch, scott n kirstie..
I have to admit, when PTX came out and did this it kind of spoiled me for the actual contestants.

AMAZING SOUND with the mics! SERIOUSLY. Pentatonix is off in al ot of their performances because of bad soundchecks with people who aren't use to adjusting for acapella music, but this show has definitely got it right.
