  • Stepperonline Driver Board DM542T Upgrade and Review. What’s up guys in this video I celebrate 1 year of my channel. I’m upgrading my old driver boards in my CNC machine with the StepperOnline driver boards. I’m able to run the machine a lot faster just by upgrading these boards. I am running a 24v machine with three axis’s and 4 motors. If you have any questions about any of this please let me know. Thanks for watching!

    Computer with parrelle port=priceless now days!?.
    Even though I would go to shores of Indian ocean, little kids have already disassembled and burned all the computers, where you can find a computer with old pareller port.

    The exact same exchange is planned on my CNC machine.
    Do you use ACME lead screws or ball screws on your CNC? Doesn't it loose steps in 150 IPM settings?

    • @ChasesWKshop
      @ChasesWKshop  Před 5 lety +1

      You’re welcome bud. I use acme lead screws. I haven’t lost any steps at 150 when doing rapids. I still only cut at 40-80 ipm. But my machine isn’t as rigid as some. It saves a lot of time and the motors are much quieter and seem like they run smoother than before. If there is anything you would like for me to try or show I can make you a video. Thanks for the comment bud and let me know if you need anything.

    After these years what driver do u really recommend is it still the Dm542T or another one
    Plus would u recommend using it for all the axis or could i use the 6600 for the z axis as u did if i am on a tight budget, what i meam is it worth it to do it for all the axis
    Note that i am building a new cnc from the beginning, so i will buy everything i don't have any components right now

    • @ChasesWKshop
      @ChasesWKshop  Před 6 měsíci

      Hey bud, that’s the only ones I’m still currently using. The ones I had previously were extremely cheap but worked. Just the difference in the noise the motors made after the installation was amazing. I’d say spend a little more and get them for all of the axis but it wouldn’t be a problem to buy them as you go either if you already have another set of drivers. I hope this helps you out man. Let me know if you have anymore question.

    Please where can I get resources to learn and gather knowledge for this setup. Like setting up the motors, drivers, and controllers and telling them what to do. I am new to 3D printing. Thank you!

    • @ChasesWKshop

      Hey bud, I use fusion 360 for cad and cam. It can be gotten free with a startup or hobby membership. I use Mach 3 to run the cnc. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

      @@hkdl8743 I’ve used it for making templates. Mostly used it to make parts for my b and g Benders in the past. One word of advise I’d give is to use shielded wire for all of you wires on your CNC. Even the limit switches and make sure they’re grounded properly. EMF is a huge issue that I didn’t give much of a thought to and I’m having some issues now.

    How do you manage to jog both X and Y axis in the same time ? I run Mach3 but i only can jog one axis at a time .

    • @ChasesWKshop
      @ChasesWKshop  Před 4 lety

      Ionut Popa sounds like you may be in the settings of the axis’s. When you’re doing the motor tuning it will only allow one axis at a time. Try doing a google search of it too. It’s usually something very simple to fix. Hope this helps bud and let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks.

      Atomkey Sinclair yes. After running them at 120 rapids for about 45 min they were warm but not hot at all. Thanks for the info and suggestion bud. Let me know if you have anyway to monitor the motor temps. I’ve thought about using an arduino with some temp sensors on them but I dunno. Thanks again.
