In this video I show how to build PAF style Humbucker pickups. I’ll be building a set of two. On Humbucker pickup for the bridge and one for the neck position. For the neck PAF style pickup I use temco 42 gauge magnet wire at about 4600 windings per bobbin. The bridge I use vintage enamel 42 gauge pickup magnet wire at 5000 windings per bobbin. The pickups are then potted in a mix of 80/20 para...

Good catch, just put in a CircuPool.... they have similar instructions. I would think the flow switch would last a little longer before the cell because it wouldn't be exposed to as much chlorine... although back flow is a thing if your not running a variable speed pump 24/7.

Hi there, as far as I can tell the only part stopping me using your kit lefty is the front dogleg cam, everything else looks flippable, but I've fallen into this trap before, I bought a trem arm for my lefty TransTrem and it turned out the lefty arms need a reverse thread... who knew? There's a company here in the UK that 3D prints stuff that is meant to be stronger than titanium (that's some claim) but it may be worth me looking into if it's only the one part :o) If I flipped the front lever and attached the linkage underneath instead of on top, would that work with a slightly deeper rout? loving the new escutcheon plate, really finishes it off

This is a great video.I built a pickup winder several years ago and threw it out when I moved. I was planning to make a new and better one. That was 19 years ago and I still haven't built one. The winder in this video is similar to several I've seen on CZcams, which means it must be a good design. I was impressed by the bobbin mount. None of the other CZcams winders have that. I have ordered the parts for a new winder, which will be a lot like this one. I found the parts at very low prices from an Asian source; however, I take a buyer beware approach toward this source. The motor, counter, and speed control cost $16 including shipping.

Chase, this is the best simplest way to go I have found. The PWN is so important and has made the winder a breeze to create. Thanks for this info. I had been using the LM317T voltage regulator which creates a lot of heat dissipation, but this PMW is a magic little device and works perfectly. BTW to your process I have added putting a tiny bit of cyano on the start finish leads to make them more sturdy, Overall an excellent guide that is rock solid. No need for anything beyond what you hav show.

Great video! I own several US made guitars, Strat Amer Std and a G&L ASAT, etc. so I feel I know what a good guitar feels and sounds like. Bought a used Butterscotch CV 4 years ago and it is now my #1 guitar. Replaced ALL the electronics EXCEPT the pickups. CTS pots, CRL Switch, cloth pushback wire and a Switchcraft output jack. In my opinion the guitar sounds much better. Fuller as if more signal is getting to the amp. In fact it sounds SO much better I don't feel the need to switch out the pickups! LOL Now some people think that there shouldn't be any difference in sound, but the original electronics are pure garbage. Guitar Player recently commented on a guitar review that the US made parts contributed to a better signal path. Anyway, cost about $50USD and an afternoon of soldering and here we are. In addition, I didn't care for the amount of finish on the back of the neck so went to Home Depot and bought some furniture stripping pads. These are MUCH more aggressive than sanding sponges and really went to town on the back of the neck. So much so that it looks like the guitar has had a million hours of play on it, all relic'd. I prefer the feel and it was a cheap mod. Let me know if anyone tries this.

Save your money and buy an Affinity. You can use the $280 you saved to buy new electronics. The brand new CV Squire I bought on January 4, 2024, didn't work. It had a faulty 3 way switch. I took it back and got my money back. Two weeks later I bought an Affinty and it is still working fine. Replacing the strings is an absolute necessity. I have replaced the pick guard, with a white pearl pattern and installed individual brass saddles. I have new pickups ordered. The tuners are not the best but the split shafts allow you to remove and replace the strings and staggered tuners would improve the low E string operation.. This model has a belly cut and the body is slightly thinner and lighter than the Classic Vibe and those were features that I was looking for over the other models. The double binding on the Classic 60s is very nice but I was totally disappointed with my purchase of this model that had the faulty switch. That's what made me decide to buy the cheaper model and replace things especially the electronics, with the money I saved.
