- Freelancers, consultants and entrepreneurs no longer need to work out of their homes or garages. Instead, they can rent space at "co-working" firms, such as WeWork, that provide a place to plug in as well as all the perks of a shared office space, from baristas and tap rooms to day care. Tony Dokoupil examines the co-working industry, which has grown from as few as 70 people in 2007 to 1.5 million worldwide, and is expanding beyond the parameters of simple working space. Isn't this just cafes??
When company's provide opportunity to work for home why are these required?
Some may be more productive "going to the office" then working from home and to get away from screaming kids running by in the background while trying to attend a meeting with the boss and co-workers on Zoom. So now it's up to We Work (and others) to meet this demand and open an office near where people live.
That Roam concept would make me feel creeped out. It's like a commune wrapped up in business plan.
Haya Glamazon, nice for needy people.
this didn't age well...
Would rather work remotely, too noisy.
That was the whole point of WeWork. Remote Work.
Who wants to work in a crowded cafeteria??? How can you think with that noise and those people moving around? How can you have private phone calls to discuss business? What employer wants a workforce being served free beer? WeWork is a $47 billion con job gone bust. The pandemic has revealed that working from home is the future, not coworking spaces.

Moose International just came out with something like this called "Lodgical". I never heard of the co-working concept until I read it in their magazine.

Never heard of this company
Correction: It's called "Lodgic Everyday Community".
Fast forward to 2020: WeWork is laying off 1,000 people, Adam Neumann was basically fired and the co-working dream is dead.
No wonder the failed
