While he isn't the same character, Maxima's name is indeed a call back to this! Also worth mentioning that Rocky appears as a Striker for Maxima in KOF 2000!
Exactly friend! They were originally going to have a robo army team but only kept Rocky after scraping the idea
It is a great nod that SNK did with that!
I knew the robot looks familiar!
This connection actually goes further, KoF Maxima and Robo Army Maxima both have partners named Rocky who were injured in an accident involving their respective games but while Robo Army Rocky got turned into a cyborg KoF Rocky just outright died.
I guess since KoF is a parallel continuity to Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Ikari Warriors and so on it could also be the same way for Robo Army?
@@MrRedGreenBlue1 very possible. Since Art of fighting is the 70s, fatal fury is the 80s and 90s and Kof no one ages lol
The wall of fire at the beginning was because he didn’t
GO-GO-GO!!
That was basically some arcade games' way of getting the game over with if no one was playing. A few arcade games by Konami did that, too, in which if the characters are idle after a few moments, they'll get hit with an instant-deletion attack like a bomb.
Matt has made me aware of so many great beat em ups
I think Matt went to the same laundromat I did as a kid
Maxima indeed was inspired by the Maxima of this game. Remember, The King of Fighters characters were made from other characters from their own arcade games.
That and Harry Ness from Daraku Tenshi
Also, Athena Asamiya is more or less the same bikini-clad warrior girl, Athena, of the same name and same game title by SNK from the arcade game and Famicom conversion made and released by SNK in the late 1980s.
Transforming into the car, on some 'Turbo Teen' shit
I think the only other game character that managed that feat was Edie E. in Final Fight Revenge.
@Dealt: I vaguely remember that short-lived Hanna-Barbera cartoon from my youth of the late 1980s. Also, I think the car transformation might have been loosely inspired by the transformation into motorcycles from _Tron_ . Michael Jackson also used the power of magic in _Moonwalker_ to transform into the 1970 Bertone Lancia Stratos Zero for...reasons.
I'm convinced the Machines have decided taking humanity in a fight is too risky so they'll annoy us to death instead.
i had COPS toys, i liked the show back then
That show was awesome
That COPS episode where Big Boss's grandma comes to town is still great.
1:38 SCIENCE!
yo THIS! THIS is the game I've been looking for forever. I remember it from a pizza joint long ago and any kind of search I'd do for it would usually result in Captain Commando but NOW I have a name to it. Thank you for filling in that blank from my childhood memories
Finally, a game where you can turn into a convertible.
4:30 true, but the other way around. they made another character (inspired by a character from Daraku tenshi, Harry Ness) and since he was a cyborg with robot arms, they named him Maxima in reference to that Maxima.
Their backstories also have some similarities, but that's the backstory of 90% of cyborgs in japanese media (because Kamen Rider)
This one probably isn't even Canadian as far as we know.
I just remember the second character from KOF 2000, the one that you least played apparently.
That fireball thing at the beginning was an airstrike methinks
"How do you defeat a robot that doesn't give a shit?" Quotes like this is why I watch the channel. And while I never watched C.O.P.S. as a kid, I did find some episodes on CZcams so maybe I'll be able to enjoy some of it.
SNK has confirmed that this is the same KOF Maxima, just repurposed(?).
No they didn't. You have your info mixed up. This Maxima inspired the new Maxima but they have two different background stories and SNK actually confirmed that they are not the same. Rocky stayed as another striker for Maxima as they were going to have a robo army team in kof 2000 lol
How do you guys have two different confirmations? Lol smh the internet...
I would like to see SNK return to brawlers
KOF Maxima can't turn into a car, but he does gain a chest cannon later like in this game. It can fit if you assume robo army takes place after KOF2001
First saw this game on Nick Arcade
Same here. I used to get angry when the kids would fail at the games, especially beta _Sonic the Hedgehog 2_ .
You should do combat tribes
_Robo Army_ was one of those Neo-Geo games that I wish got a conversion on the Super NES and Genesis by way of Takara. I also love the Area 4 and 5 BGMs to this game. Lovely and funny playthrough as always!
Nests does more than just Clone Kyo.
I was so confused whether or not you played Burning Fight cause I can’t find it on the Flophouse so I kept recommending it!
Yo the sewer level boss is a mouser straight outta TMNT!
rocky for kof 16
Omega Rugal is part of the "robo army" too
DUDE.
SNK should bring in Elta from Magician Lord as a KOF fighter. Or if they ever make a sequel to NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, where they could go more nuts with his magic arsenal.
Not sure why you think the people in the cages should come out to where the killer robots are. 😁
hey did you see the trailer for double dragon revive?f
Of course DEEP TOWN is in Detroit
Love these old SNK games. I would love to see you make a video on Burning Fight. Also would love to see you play some more MK1.
Yooo, we’ve become the Neo-Detroit Become Human
Boston Dynamics got nothing on these guys!
I like this comment😂
Yeah it is actually Maxima.
They just combined the idea with that one fallen angels character
It's not the same character, friend. It's been confirmed that he inspired the new one but they have two different backstories. Rocky only appears in KOF 2000 as a striker as homage and because theyvwere going to include a Robo Army team but scrapped that idea. The same person created both but they arent the same
I always wanted C.O.P.S to be made by the same Konami team behind the original Crime Fighters arcade Imagine what we missed out on then ported to 16 bit systems and why didn't the MD get a crime fighters port
The cripple wars looks intense
