Kanan regaining his eyesight and looking at hera and Ezra is always a gut punch
it's very poetic the force giving him his ability to see them one last time.. almost like a reward for sacrificing himself yeah there was no way out of that situation he had to do what he had to do .. That force push really saved them
Yeah. No matter how many times I see that scene, I always tear up.
One of those things that are so emotional and powerful, that it doesn’t need to make sense and be explained, star wars at it’s best.
This is one of the hardest deaths in Star Wars. Especially when his eyes come back, I immediately thought back to “I wish I could see you”. It was as if the force was granting his last request. Kanan was everything I loved about a new generation of Jedi. He respects the old ways but also knows enough that the Jedi weren’t right about everything. He knew love gave him strength. His mentorship to those around him as well as his willingness to learn from others and trust their strengths is unmatched. His faith in his crew for this mission, especially Ezra, is so well earned because the show took time to establish these relationships and forged them in fire. As a famous Jedi once said “No one’s ever really gone”…
If you watch Kanan’s death scene again, as he is looking into Hera’s eyes, his sight comes back right before he dies 😭😭
losing kanan never gets easier 😭
It ends up being quite the conundrum when choosing to re-watch Rebels because we always remember the high points of the series but then we immediately start remembering the pain of this moment
ugh
I'm still watching this to make sure I didn't create that hurt.
One of the saddest episodes of any Star Wars show ever. I feel like Kanan knew all along that he would not make it out alive, but still he did what he had to do - for Hera, for his friends, and for the greater good of the rebellion. Such a true Jedi.
That moment Kanan's vision comes back and he and Hera make eye contact - amazing.😢👏
“We will SEE each other again, I promise”- kanan before he left for malacore
One of the best and worst Rebels episodes all in one go: every time watching this its really painful but somehow beautiful.
Kanan is one of my favourite Jedi - all the adversity he overcame, all he achieved, and his continued resilience and humanity despite everything that happened to him. In the end, Kanan was an exemplary Jedi, Jedi knight, and Jedi Master.
Losing Kanan was such a gut punch, and unexpected at the time too. The rest of the season is some of the best Star Wars content we’ve had but it’s hard to enjoy without him
This one never stops hurting, but he went out like a hero with one last look at those he loved as he saved their lives.
Also, Pryce literally just blew up the entire fuel supply for the Empire's Lothal factory. She might regret that choice.
I think there should be a statue of her. Think about it. With Kanan gone, the only one to really give Luke an alternative perspective on how to remake the Jedi Order without the dogma was Kenobi. We all know how that worked out.
He kept his promise he got to see hers one last time 😢
Kanans master saved his life now kanan saves his family's lives it comes full circle in that moment.
May the force be with you Caleb/kanan always
He also got to see Ezra one last time too. He was looking at both of them. He got to see the two most important people in his life, the two had made him who he was and is one final time
The full circle cycle was emphasized when Ezra wanted to save Kanan in the Space between Worlds.
2018 is when this aired, this never gets easier. We all knew this is where you were going and we couldn't warn you. Because we didn't know in 2018 and we weren't going to spoil this. Get ready for everything that comes from this point forward as we're in the endgame now. Only 5 episodes left
hundred times later still hurts :( never gets better cry every time.
If you didn’t notice the moment that Kanan holds Hera back from getting to him his eyesight comes back.
One of the writers said that in that moment Kanan had clarity, where in that moment he’d making such a sacrifice, knowing he’s about to die, the Force gives Kanan the chance to see Hera and Ezra the two most important people in his life, one last time.
You can see the way he looks at them, he’s memorizing their face, each and every detail, savoring that moment before he pushes them away as the flames consume him.
I heard it was because in that moment he was so connected to the force he was literally becoming part of it while still alive and thus physical handicaps like blindess no longer affected him
@@digitaladventurer2142 that’s also true to a point he was connected to the force more then he’s ever been. It’s why he has that moment of clarity, he knows he’s about to die so the Force gives him the opportunity to see Hera and Ezra one last time before he completely becomes one with the force.
That last scene is so poweful. Him making the ultimate sacrifice for his family and then being granted his wish cause he did say to Hera “I wish I could see you” and in a way the force granted his wish. So simple yet so creative
There was absolutely no warning for this ending as I remember. Filoni smacked us right in the face stripping away the plot armor.
But for a reason. He didn't do it as a stunt but for a narrative reason. Which I think is WHY it works. There is a buildup where the character knows something is going to happen but we the audience don't. And when it does he's there acting not only calm cool and collected but also at peace. And it's one of the reasons why those of us who adore Rebels keep coming back because even though this episode hurts we know that did is going to happen and that he accepts it
Even after all this time, it still hit like a truck. Best Star Wars ever.
Rest in peace, Kanan Jarrus jedi knight, your family who you sacrificed for will miss so much, and they will never be the same without you.🤧
Kanan will always be one of my favorite Jedi, right up there with Luke himself. As nightmarish as losing him was, it was a fitting conclusion to the story that started in the very first Star Wars novel that was published by Disney. He transitioned from a self-interested coward out of touch with the Force to a man willing to sacrifice himself to save others because he accepted that it was the will of the Force. Too many times I have seen people overlook that by doing things the way they did, and causing the destruction of the Fuel for Thrawn's Tie-Fighter project, they crippled his ability to save it from the funding cut that was being pushed for by Krennic. If Krennic hadn't won that then Stardust would not have been completed. Instead of its monolithic result, which would both turn more people against the Empire and greatly damage them once it was destroyed, the Empire would have had far more powerful Ties with which to slowly tighten their grip and destroy the rebellion. This was a crucial turning point in the story of the Star Wars Galaxy, and it was made possible by Kanan.
"Like the falling of stones just before a dam breaks"
Those Ties were damn powerful. The rebellion would've been crushed for sure.
It's ok, Tara. We're all you.
Never realized that lines from just about every episode up to the finale are playing through Kanan’s head as he is meditating with the Wolf. He knew exactly what was going to happen.
If that can be of any consolation to you, just know my tears were there with yours. And with the ones of probably most of the other people coming along with you in this journey. And you were foreshadowing it to yourself since the previous episode - just to say how good the writing was. Be prepared for what remains... great trials but great wonders too. May the Force be with you.
And this is where they break our hearts....Dammit Dave!!!
he is now one with the force, in the force, no one is ever truly gone
As luke put it "no one's ever really gone"... Ive been waiting for you to get to this episode
Dang it, I don't want to see you cry! But, actually, I have teary eyes each time I watch this scene. Kanan began to truly see and become one with the Force.
I dont care how many times I see that ending, I'm going to cry everytime. RIP kanan Jarrus jedi knight.
Kanan died as a true hero, friend, lover and Jedi Knight.
It's hard not to get choked up watching this- but don't put your tissues away yet- there's plenty yet to come this season.
Don’t forget parent too. He was a dad to both Ezra and Sabine
@@TheAngelofFate17 AND Chopper! Poor Chopper....
The emotions I had seeing how happy you were knowing what was coming 😭
It came out of nowhere!!
The moment the white lothwolf on the road said "Doom", Kanan understood, and began to prepare. Yeah, it was a gut punch for us first gen watchers, too, and the dreadful thing is, this moment makes it very real that any or all of the Rebels are vulnerable, and at any time. This show promised us heroes, not untouchables.
This is one of my favorite episodes to watch reactions for and no matter how many times I see it, it never gets easier
Sacrifice... such a noble Jedi thing to do, and it doesn't matter how many times one watches, tears will fall... Great reaction!
Thank you for your authentic reaction. When I first saw this episode I, a grown man so devastatingly affected by an animated show, was in furious denial for several subsequent episodes.
In fact, every time I see it it still hits hard.
However, watching it through YOUR eyes was the first time I had tears.
I've been waiting for you to get here! This episode was so good and so sad. This is what people are referencing when they say that Rebels is a good show with good characters; this is what we wanted others to see. And as others have noted, Kanan's regaining his sight right before his sacrifice so that he could see Hera one last time (right after they say love!), just brings a tear to my eye every time! Dume.
He knew. I bet Kanan had a vision about this happening and the wolves were part of it, hence why he realized what he needed to do in the previous episode.
this episode will never fail to make me emotional.
Kanan kept the promise he made at the end of "Mystery of Chopper base"
Oh my god! Here we go!!
rip ..Yeah bring the tissues for the next episode to .. I find myself tearing up to that episode alittle more seeing how the crew deals with his death.. Would be awesome to see Freddie prince junior reprise his role in flashbacks or A picture or something in live action... anything is possible we don't have very long to wait.. June July August the show is here
😢 I saw it the night it aired. It was difficult then and still is today. Total shock 🤯.
Destroys me every time. You handled it better than I did when I first saw this episode.
I’ve watch your reaction to this Rebels Episode many times since its release. Never get old. Thank you for being you.
Grew up on Star Wars and also just recently watched Rebels for the first time. It was spoiled for me so I knew coming into the first season, but I got attached to Kanan Jarrus so well because I related so well to his struggle and overcoming adversities. I picked up on all the foreshadowing and When he actually died, I was sobbing non-stop and went to sleep crying. And I’m not a movie crier by any means, but this scene is so beautifully and tragically written it tugs at my heartstrings every time. If it hadn’t been spoiled, I would’ve had a reaction like yours.
The force grants Kanan his wish, to see her one last time...
I cry every time & I've seen it 20+ times...
More than 5 years have passed and it is still hard
This actually made me shed tears, the OST with Kanun’s heroic sacrifice was so badass, my sec favorite character after Anakin
I was speechless when he died too
I've seen that seen many times and tear up everytime.
Yeah this was a very hard one to watch but sadly had to happen. I mean there were no other Jedi with the rebels by the time of the movies and thats only about 1 year away from when this episode happened. also his sight came back right at the end so he was able to see Hera one more time
Oh man I will never forget this episode the onion ninjas where strong, Powerful send off💯👏
This episode gets sadder every time I watch it. I didn’t realize it the first time through, but I’m pretty positive now that Kanan knew Hera was pregnant with Jacen. That’s partly why he retrieved the Kalikori for Hera. She had already rationalized that she can live without it, especially since the lineage would likely end with her. Kanan knew that wasn’t the case any longer.
Kanan's death is a sucker punch because he was the perfect Jedi. He balanced his attachments and the Force in ways that made both stronger. He was the Dad of the Rebel family. And he dies sacrificing himself for the people he loved. That was a truly noble sacrifice.
This episode is hard and the first time i saw it I had to rewatch the end to digest it
This episode feels off like sort of a goodbye from Kanan.
Just seeing the title "Jedi Knight" after watching the episode hits me strong . During the show Kanan achieves the title of a Jedi knight from a lost padawan all this years and later Bendu addressed Kanan with the same title. telling us that this arc is about Kanan. Together with another meaning as it also sounds like "Jedi Night". just shows how we don't know yet but it seems that Kanan knew what awaits him and still he chose to go through it to save Hera and give our team the chance they needed to complete this.
Keep up with the great reactions I am eager to see how you respond to rest of the season
Still the most heart wrenching death in Star Wars. I weep at every watch.
Getting there! I'm almost done with Andor. I can't wait to watch it!
Oh no.... here we go
Having seen Ahsoka first I knew I'd eventually see whatever happened to Kanan and I still wasn't ready for it.
This one is emotional.
Ahhhh………….the bad feels :D
Totally fine……..I’m not crying…….
3:11 well, you would need to watch Star Wars movie - "Rogue One" to know about the project Stardust in all details. Also, it is probably the best movie out of all star wars movies made so far.
The part a lot of people miss about Kanan getting his sight back, is that before he left for Malachor with Ezra, he told Hera they'd see each other again.
He was correct.
I felt something similar, when I was driving the car to the hospital, when my mother was dying ... But, I didn't make it on time :(
This episode has a lot of callbacks to the A New Dawn. The first novel released since Disney bought Lucasfilm. The first thing Kanan fell in love with was her voice. And the line “I don’t crash, I have very exciting landings.” Was what Hera said after their first escape. I highly recommend you read this book it’s not very long. And if you want even more context for the events after 66, then please consider checking out Kanan: The Last Padawan. There is a fan dub of the 12 part comic that puts the whole thing in chronological order. Since the comic is actually three story lines tied together. One before 66, one after 66, and one set during the first season.
Oh my gosh, there is a book with them in it? I will DEFINITELY look that up!!!!!
@@thatnerdtara Yeah it’s set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith. Kanan was 24 and Hera 18. This is years before Sabine and Zeb joined the crew.

Keep « star dust » in mind
At the beginning of this episode when Kanan talks with the Loth-Wolf realizing that Darth Vader and Ahsoka are alive, that's was wonderful and important Moment and i hope so that Ezra must learn that Vader is Anakin, do you understand? And after the audience watch the Last Jedi, they realize that Kanan is dead watching this episode and is that because we didn't see him in Force Awakens
Freddie Prince Jr himself said there is an ending to his tale and Ezra must pick it up. He truly will not be coming back as he is true to the Jedi songs of old and will echo in our dreams.
this one hurt 😥
Yeah this one is always rough but equally always as good
I’d put this episode/arc against any bit of CW minus SoM. Fantastic writing for his character
i cry every time
You'll probably want tissues for the next episode.
This makes me really sad cuz he was my favorite Jedi, and now we won't ever see him again.
3:33 Dave Filoni stormtrooper again.
The force bringing his eyesight back so he can see Hera 1 last time 😢
I didn't even notice that during this because my brain was trying to process that Kanan might actually die
That episode hit me pretty hard
I think this might have been my reaction. I watched it at night when i got home from work because my gf doesn't like SW. I think she came don't stairs to see me crying like a fool.
Same 😭
"STARDUST" You need to watch Rogue One!! 😊
I should be watching it next week! I'm so excited for that one because I hear so many good things!

Remove. You don't want to seeing that title later and knowing what happens ahead of time.
@@YodatheHobbitshe's watching in chronological order so she's already seen that
And this is supposed to be a kids’ show.
Sad time
Kanan's death is the worst one in all of Star Wars for me.
When I first saw this episode I was in shock, I was like what!!? We lost another Jedi after Order 66; and from there on I was getting worried about Ezra. To me Governor Pryce and Pong Krell(The Clone Wars) are just douche bags.
