I've come to the conclusion that the Martin Road Series is definitely the guitar for the gigging musician or just the average blue collar person. With the price Martin has set for these, I've always seen it as Martin telling us, "yes you work and bust your back everyday, you deserve a quality solid wood guitar that isn't going to set you back thousands of dollars." I LOVE the Martin 000-10e and even the higher end of the road series such as the Martin 000-13e. The road series is such a great value and has something for everyone that isn't going to break the bank. Can't recommend the Road Series enough.

Some of the GPs can stand head to heads with the best Martins out there. I've played customs that were well worth the 5k they cost. So they're not just blue collar gigging guitars

I've never really bonded with Martin dreads (heresy, I know). They are just too boomy to me. I need more mids because of hearing loss. A few years ago I picked up a Road Series GPRS1 and it was magical. Loved the look/feel/warmth/sound of sapele. They quit making them, of course, but the 000-10E seems to be the nearest kin. Still a killer value at $750. The GP seemed to have a slightly wider and deeper lower bout which gave it a richness and balance.

Yes and no, the best guitar, starter or not is any guitar you have and inspires you to play, but you have to afford it, so I’d you have the cash, like don’t even bothered about it then yeah it’s a great starter because it’s already a guitar on the level of a forever guitar, if not go look somewhere else and start out on a cheap but well made guitar like a Yamaha 800 series, which for 200€ is probably the best guitar for the price and I’d dare to say the highest value guitar on the market
