    I usually give it a slight wiggle in the slot before i press it down fully , helps to ensure the pins are slotting into the holes properly

    Man this tip would have helped a day ago 😅 bent three switch. It was my first time doing it though, so could have been worse.

    I'm new to keyboards. Trying to build one with truly effective backlit letters. Seems few are interested. Little info or direction even from people with stuff to sell. Not much available and hard to find. Makes no sense.

      Shine through keycaps seem to have a stigma with some people unfortunately. I invite you to come pay a visit to BudgetKeebs either on Reddit (budgetkeebs.com) or Discord (discord.budgetkeebs.com) and drop a comment in either our weekly question thread or #questions channel and tag me with u/badmark or @badmark and we can discuss what you are looking for.

    How do you know if your hotswap socket came undone?

      The best way is to open it up and inspect the back of the PCB, otherwise you can carefully push on the sucket from the front and if it's loose or not there, you've got your answer.

    Any tips on actually having both locking tabs of the switch always stick up? It’s like a gamble for me if both, only one, or none of the up and down locking tabs actually stick out

    I'm looking at purchasing a used hot-swap keyboard with a broken key. I hoping to repair the key. I'm hoping it's just the switch, but what potentially could be broken besides that?

      The hot swap socket could be pulled off of the PCB.

      Is it because the Akko has 3 "pins" and the Gateron Yellow has 5?

    • @adriandahdah7261
      @adriandahdah7261 Před 8 měsíci

      @@MechKeyboards oh ok but when i look at the gateron it doesnt have no pins

    • @MechKeyboards
      @MechKeyboards  Před 8 měsíci

      If it has no metal pins then it is an optical switch and they are not compatible.
