ABOUT THIS SIMPLE CROCHET BABY BLANKET:
- It’s super soft and cuddly
- Lightweight and great for summertime or as an extra layer in the winter
- Easy to make - only requires knowledge of single crochet stitch and double crochet stitch (often called a Lemon Peel Stitch) and a slip stitch… perfect for a beginner learning how to crochet a baby blanket or an advanced crocheter!
- For the size I made, I used only one skein of the economical big ball size of Bernat Baby Sport (100% Acrylic 350g, 1148 meters/1256 yards).
- This yarn comes in pink, white and blue, perfect to make for a girl, boy or unisex/gender neutral.
- Plus, this yarn is washable and dryable!
- The pattern is customizable so you can make it any size you’d like.
- Options for the border to add decorative shells or a simple edging.
- Fast… it works up quick.
- Looks beautiful on display in the nursery and of course, on a baby!

SKILL LEVEL:
Basic - very beginner-friendly
SIZE
The final product following this video/pattern and using the yarn listed below creates a blanket that is 39” (100 cm) x 47” (120 cm). To adjust the size, increase or decrease the number of starting chains in multiples of 2 + 1 (an odd number of starting chains).
MATERIALS
Yarn: One skein of the economical big ball size of Bernat Baby Sport (100% Acrylic, 12.3 oz / 350g, 1148 meters/1256 yards). This is a light (3) yarn. You can substitute with your favourite light (3) yarn. Colour I used (as seen in photos): Baby pink
Crochet Hook Size: K/10.5 (6.5 mm)
Other materials: scissors, yarn needle

This is the biggest project I’ve made and I feel so accomplished. I only did two rows of single crochet because I was running low on yarn but it still looks just as cute with the scalloped edge. I can’t wait to give this to my friend’s baby!

Thank you for this sweet pattern and tutorial! Used this for a lovey and a pacifier keeper! Have made other baby blankets that had the shell pattern made with lots of double crochets. They take a ton of yarn and take SO LONG to make! This one has such a wonderful texture and was so fun to crochet! The shell border is similar to others I’ve made … love that this one is finished with a border that gives the edges extra structure! Learned so much from this and had many inspirations as to how to use this for other items. Thanks again!❤️

@@jototheworldcreations I do. My go to for baby blankets was always the shell stitch until I did a baby blanket for a friend’s daughter that was worried that a crochet blanket would cause toe tangles for the baby. I seen the seed stitch pattern and tried it. It worked up easily and fast.
That's great! I haven't heard this particular combinations of stitches called the seed stitch before. I've always seen it called the Lemon Peel stitch. However, I know there are lots of different names for the same combinations of stitches :).
