- 65 year old Volvo still hard at work in the Arctic. Can it do everything required in a Lumber yard and Sawmill both summer and winter.
How many different attachments can you have?
I think this is one of the most useful loaders to own if your not in a rush, it is cheap to run, easy to fix and always works.
Is it a Volvo? not so much more BM than Volvo.
AB Bolinder-Munktell (BM) was a tractor and machines manufacturer founded in Eskilstuna, Sweden in 1932 through the merger of the mechanical companies Bolinders [sv] and Munktells Mekaniska Verkstad [sv].
In 1950 BM was bought by AB Volvo. In 1973 the company changed its name to Volvo BM AB and then in 1995 to Volvo Construction Equipment.
Thank you.

I didn't think the audio/video was too bad. I could see and hear you just fine. Thanks for sharing Simon. 👍
Cool, thanks
Thanks Simon, the old iron is not for the faint of heart, its a good one. Take care.
Thanks Mark, thankfully fear is not an emotion I suffer with. All the best
🤠👍 There is no business like snow business!
Take care, stay warm, be safe!
❤
Thanks, you too!
I didn’t notice much of a problem Simon with the sound at all. Darn painful the phone is disabled at the moment though. Enjoyed the Volvo recap. But have to say Kasper warmed my heart! He is such a lovely wee man! Hamish makes the same sounds when rubbing him down after a bath or a rain fall 🥰🥰. Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. Thank you Simon.❤️🇦🇺🇸🇪
Thank you Anne, Kasper talks a lot inside especially in the evenings. We are all great and send out love to you all.
The Master and his mastery of the Old Yellow Girl!!
Kasper the snow hound sure enjoys his rub-down... that's for sure!!
I tell you what... when I watch you working outdoors, I am grateful that I don't have to torture myself like that!! Stay safe you friends up there!!
Hi Aj, yes,yes and yes and then maybe not. Sitting in traffic for hours is my torture, standing in line is another but worst of all are dealing with small minded humans on a daily basis is equal to rubbing broken glass in my eyes. It is not torture for me here but my chosen way of live and living. Not that I knew that at the time!
Our best to you and yours, take great care my friend.
Sound quality wasn't that bad Simon. Thanks for the tutorial of your Volvo loader. I can see how ergonomics are vastly different from modern machines and operator fatigue is a factor for you. Nonetheless, I would be proud to own a machine like yours that functions so well and performs so many vital tasks. Its obvious that it's a lifeline of sorts for you. Good thing its reliable.
Thanks Matthew, I was so used to operating machines with joy sticks I had to think back to my childhood to recall pushing and pulling levers lol. Now however this old girl is a lifeline yes with no way of replacement thus the kind but firm treatment.
Thank you for doing this video very interesting. :)
My pleasure!
Sound quality good Si heard every word clearly. Enjoyable video mate take care
Cheers Ash, thank you and say Hi to the boys for me. Best to you all.
Ah.. those BM's... they'll last not far from an eternity if you just give them a little TLC once in a while, and as you said, they will run on just about anything resembling diesel. An old farmer about 30 km to our south runs his on used cooking oil from a fast food joint. He sifted it to remove wax and other solids and added some kerosene. It smells like KFC, but it works great.. and 400 liters of nearly free fuel goes a long way. Here we have a little spring feeling.. it's 4-5° C, windy and torrential rain 😤 Can't say that I like it.. well, can't do anything about the weather . All the best to you🙂
Can you imagine driving around smelling KFC all day. My idea of bliss.
400 liters for small bucks and recycling has to be good.
What an excellent and informative video, thank you 🙏🏻
And the sound is ok
Glad you enjoyed it, not as good as I would have wanted I had too many new things going on.
Typical sassy kid that one is ! Good at the how dare you touch me😂 thanks Simon between you and the pup there’s never a dull moment!😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks Brad, she is and it makes me laugh. Take care buddy
Also loved the tour of the Beast! Thanks
Your welcome Dave.
Keep them videos coming Simon! Thanks for sharing !
Thanks, will do!
Howdy Simon - great video of your machine. I like the older buggy’s cause there’s not as much to go wrong and they were built to last and do the job they were built to do. As far as the microphone, I couldn’t tell any thing that didn’t sound good to me. But then, my hearing is not too good. Take care and stay safe and warm. God bless
Hi Paul, Thank you and your correct their are very simple as you know. I have seen you do many incredible things with the basics and intuition. I guess life takes some of our best features as we progress. So here's to age and happiness. God bless my friend.
Thanks for the tractor tour simon very interesting and helpful we are having a winter thaw here and then back in the deep freeze again you take care and be safe up there
Hi Eric. your welcome, just watch out for the ice! Be safe my friend.
it is cold when you snap bits like that mate but I don't think things are made the same any more good job mate
No Jimmy things are not made the same, maybe this is why I keep as much old shit as I can.
You seen the commercial were they use a plastic whisk on Casper’s feet area to clean off the snow? I see also you have room for a bigger heater! Lol
I have not seen that Dave, but please don't tell my Sarah or that will be another gadget we have!
Hello sir
I saw those cheap china diesel 12 V heaters . They heat realy well you know.
It's none of my busines but maybe for some sumer plan B tractor Inprowment .
greetings from Slovenia 2 C° .
Thank you, improvements come each year if I have money for them.
Very nice to get a tour around and inside your Volvo, Simon. How much can this machine lift? Take care and stay safe in these arctic conditions 🙂
Good question, I have no idea what it is rated as being able to lift, I do know it has never failed or broken. It will life 4 packs of wet wood at 3/4 ton each so that is 3 tons. Do the tires go a little flat, well yes but only at the front. Thanks and be well.
@@arctic-rebel thank you for taking time ti reply Simon. More than 3 ton is quite alot, and much mucjh more than the 4 - 500 kilo my small David Brown can lift with the front loader :). Have a nice sunday you and your family.
A ceiling heater?
