I can't emphasize enough how instrumental these B&H Event Space lectures have been in helping me improve my photography. This particular video stands out to me, because it is one of the few that - while yes it is sponsored by Impact - is geared more towards instruction rather than beating the audience incessantly over the head with brand and gear promotion.
Thanks for this.
A great lesson that was actually a course and not just product placement/self-endorsement. Thanks for the video!
Thanks, Joey. This was great. Easy to follow.
@Supiripanto
Hello,
Thank you for your inquiry.
The Light ratios that are explained in this instructional video are aimed at manual studio strobes, while shooting in manual mode.
Mr. Quintero’s theories can be applied to all portraiture lighting in general. The principles are often universal, and only need to be slightly reinterpreted for your needs.
great communicator. very easy to understand, third person or not.
Thanks again, Joey!
very enjoyable video. Thanks!

Impact figures about a month or two before it hits the shelf.
Is it out yet :D
I Like it
Either way good video
definitely I learned something...
ratio 1:1 (=2^0) equals 0 stop;
ratio 2:1 (=2^1) equals 1 stop;
ratio 4:1 (=2^2) equals 2 stops
rato 8:1 (= 2^3) equals 3 stops not 4!
where is the flash coming from? is the light continuous? or it is a strobe? if it is a strobe why it is light on?
I was really hoping to see you flooding the backdrop to get a clean white background
@58:13 metering flash to 5.6 and 8/10 and setting camera to 6.3 will get you half a stop overexposure. You don't have to work at NASA to figure that out.
I can't help but wonder, why does it take over a year to design a beauty dish? Optics is a well defined field.
"Unless you're shooting for NASA, f4 & 9/10th is f5.6" Classic.
Why does he keep unplugging things, do the lights not have on / off switches?
I'll never understand the need for a meter when shooting digital. That's what the LCD or computer is for.
dam it christine always dropping you chin 1mm
George is getting upset!!
This guy is knowledgeable, but kind of weird.
yeah....that was strange
Not a bad video, but it was odd how he kept referring to himself in the 3rd person.
Who is this Joey or are you talkin in 3rd person as it is quite annoying?...otherwise great vid :)
lol i thought he was on about someone else at first great vid but that creeps me out
yeah i hate that who does he think he is !!
It was weird to hear him always refer to himself in the 3rd person. But it was a great video. Also, I don't really like how these comments are under approval only.
