Tubeless is a life saver if you're running faster race tires, since they don't have the greatest puncture protection. I went tubeless on my road bike recently and won't go back to tubes.
If your tire still won't seal, double check the rim tape & valve seating, as that's where I've had the most trouble on my MTB. For the road bike, I went with rims that don't have spoke access holes, so no rim tape to worry about there.
Yeah, I run my race tires all season since I only have one wheelset, so definitely makes sense for me. And thanks for the tips!
Love your videos man 👍🏼 I appreciate your honesty. I don’t race but do love exploring marginal gains. I tried tubeless in 2020, first flat required a tube to get home. It’s also really hot here in summer and they dried out on me pretty quickly. I’m now a fan of TPU tubes, seems like a great compromise. Low weight, low friction, harder to puncture than butyl tubes. Would love to hear other opinions if I’m off base.
Thanks! Yeah, the TPU tubes I've looked interesting. I want to give tubeless a fair long-term shot, but may be something I look at down the road!
Let’s get a bike check? What are you riding?
I have a Specialized Tarmac SL6!
I'm a casual rider so I wouldn't go tubeless. Swapping a tube is too easy. I already have to deal with tubeless on my MTB and that is enough to sway me away for road.
Fair enough!
