    Yes, this is true. I've encountered some people who want or claim to be INTJs on Twitter and the conversations made me cringe. INTJs aren't intentionally trying to be "cold" or "rude". We actually wish we weren't misunderstood and didn't offend ppl. Unless these "intjs" are immature, it is very obvious who are trying hard to become a certain personality type. To each their own I guess.

      @ninadiener9806 Před 4 lety +6

      True, it can hurt when one gets a surprise complaint about being so "distant and rude" from people one actually likes, but the people who think the offended party "are then not rational enough for me" usually have some other type of problem imo

      i was just going to post almost exactly the same thing! i have no experience with posers, but the second part of your comment really is where i was going. i piss people off without even knowing it sometimes. sometimes i do though, like when talking about emotional subjects.
      for example: my bff growing up has a sister (we dated for a while as teens) has a very problematic son. we were talking about him, and i'm just matter of factly telling her what i thought. she muttered "bastard" hung up on me, and we didn't talk for years.
      i'm like "well you ASKED me what i thought!" i only offer an opinion when ASKED to. otherwise i assume women are just venting. which they do. i had previously given her good advice about dealing with her father that worked out really well. still does to this day.

      Sounds like an INFJ in a Ni Ti loop. They are critical and manipulative.
      Or INFJ claiming they can not be assholes because they are just so sweet, kind and selfless. That's just how the INFJ's are, they say but in reality they are huge cunts.

      and i haaaaaaate when people think about intps like that. they're not lazy, they just don't realise that they're expected to do more in real life and are usually exhausted cz of their continous in depth thinking that comes out as ignoring you while talking or laziness, especially the less balanced ones.
      ask an intp to help you with a problem and while you're out thinking they're ignoring you or didn't respond to you, they're honestly working on it in their heads and will come up with solutions whenever they find them. intps are keepers but tricky from my personal experience.

    Thank you for your content!
    I used to be very interested in MBTI initially, but then I stopped trying to get into it because of the community. Even some popular MBTI CZcamsrs are often too rigid about their affirmations, which leads to lots of confusion and biases. I used to dismiss being a certain type, because people would just yell that "an (insert type) would never (insert action)". I agree that some things might be unnatural for certain types to do, but saying that they're totally incapable of doing that is absurd. I still have no idea what type I am, but I don't care too much. I think it's better to learn something from all the types instead of strictly focusing on your own.
    Thank you for bringing me back into MBTI. I'm glad to see people who try to bring understanding and avoid labeling.

    I don't see how someone could be so bothered about what people think of them. MBTI really is just a tool to be used, best if one knows how to use it. I think the most important element in using it is to know Your type to understand yourself better, potentially improve and empower yourself by gaining an understanding about Your cognitive functions, their interplay and how to use your strengths and know your weaknesses.
    When I found out my type I was very skeptical, thinking "this 2% thing is kind of cool, but what if I was just mistyped and my ego is in play here?" had to make sure. My primary thought was how can I use mbti to better myself?.... fast forward learning most of what was nescessary and what an impact it has had.

    Thank you! This is so true; I don't know many people who like mbti, but this goes for all areas of life, I think. I see this with people who say they are "empaths" online a lot; a lot of them, when the time comes to actually act like an empathic person, they kinda end up being pretty self righteous and judgemental instead. It's good to talk about oneself and what one does to kinda organize the idea for self-knowledge and understanding better, but it's best to base those ideas off actions and what has actually been done and how; that way it's easier to make life better and easier but for some, self-acceptance is the most important step to be able begin that journey

    This is a good idea. Although, from what I've been noticing, this kind of thing doesn't seem to happen a lot with Ixxp types. I think one of the easiest ways to tell what type you are and aren't, is when you're a friend or you know someone of the type you suspect yourself to be. Let me tell you, I've had a lot of typings confirmed for me that I wasn't through this method. I thought I was an ESFP once, but once I found a friend who actually was an ESFP type, I was like.. "Nope, that's not me at all!" To this day, the most I'm confident on is being on the Ti-Fe axis.

    Personally, I remember when I was mistyping between INTJ and INTP because they are both logical and have very similar interests and weaknesses. How I got this around is figuring out whether I have Ne or Ni. I always *prefer* to pick one idea that feels right and I don't feel creative, so Ni. Notice the key word I just said was *preferences*, which is what mbti is all about. Because they are preferences, no one is boxed in with that type, and that's where the shadow functions come to play.

    Excellent video! I fully agree with everything you're saying here and that we don't need to broadcast to the world exactly who we are in order to somehow 'prove' something about ourselves, especially within this community. Unfortunately there are so many people that seem to also be blinded by the stereotypical factors of each type, that we should be fitting into these boxes like some sort of checklist of what is expected - that should then be amplified in online conversations e.t.c. As an INTJ also with a penchant for self growth, (which led me to your channel) not too long ago I recently introduced myself to a specific MBTI community, wrote a little about myself and my type - to be told I must be an ENFP because I wrote at the end of it 'how I hoped the day was treating you all well', had a couple of different interests and worked in an artistic field instead of something deemed more appropriate to what an INTJ would do.
    Don't feel like you need to conform or amplify this stereotypical view of your type guys, especially when trying to improve on areas of yourself that aren't deemed the norm for your type to do.
    Like another comment mentioned, actions do speak louder than words! Let that speak for itself. Just do you

One of my least favorite things about the community. I don’t think having a you do you approach is the best way to go about it, I think these people need to be called out. I organize my makeup, dvds, and cds. I plan when I walk my dog. I go nuts when I go off schedule - except when it is time to have fun. I am future thinking all the time. I get very anxious about things sometimes. I am truly highly sensitive. I love kids. I love animals but barking and meowing gets under my skin when it goes on too long. I love hugs and helping those who truly need my help. I am always wanting justice. What personality type am I?

    I’m so turned around and backwards! I’m confused and have become obsessed in trying to figure out my type. I truly believe that once we can see ourselves clearly we can work on ourselves in a deep and meaningful way. I’m at the point of thinking I fit nowhere, or that I’m so delusional that I’m looking right at it and can’t see it!
    When I ask others, but I notice they give answers based on what they struggle with and see in me. They aren’t organized and think I am. They are super friendly and outgoing so see me as introverted.
    When I look at myself I only see contradictions. I want a plan, but loosely, so I have a direction and a place to point. I don’t want to give up options. I like routines, but get bored fast when everyday is the same. I don’t care to be in charge (exhausting!), but I want to be in charge of me (and kinda those I love too). I hate society as a whole, love getting to know people deeply. I love people watching and being out in the world, but please don’t talk to me. I want to go, go, GO, but when sad/hurt/stressed (like a tragicly bad hair colour ) I cry for 2 days and can’t eat. I don’t want to be the center of attention, but I want to be admired for my physical attributes. I would definitely pick being pretty over smart, even though I admire smart more.
    Please, do you have tips or examples of seeing our own self more clearly? Am I seeing what I’m proud of? Am I seeing what others wish they were more of? Am I seeing my demons and then thinking it’s one of my saviours?

    I think another good clue is... do they act like special unicorns and bring up the "rarity" of their chosen type, or do they acknowledge the flaws related to that type, attempt to balance their functions and don't make a big fuss out of it ? TBH, except on a few channels where it's relevant I don't bring up my type like some do in dating or social media profiles or usernames, it comes off as pushy and ungenuine sometimes ! I feel like someone trying to pass as an INTJ would be easily spotted, but us INFJs seem to have a great deal of special unicorns that spit out the same platitudes and rant about being misunderstood, and it's hard to know whether they're mistyped or just INFJs that are unbalanced/a pain in the ass LOL.
    And also, we all identified with a type based on a test or study of the functions, it's all a choice we've made (unless someone else typed you) and it's rare you get to know someone better than themselves. A lot of people will chime in gently with "oh then you might be XXXX" when someone seems to be mistyped, I think it's beneficial : although the mistyping seems clear sometimes I believe it's important not to be rude about it, value every type with their qualities and flaws generally, so people can feel at ease changing their mind if they got the wrong type from 16p or their misundertanding !

On topic, we can work those functions without talking about them. As INFP I value authenticity and the inauthentic screams out at me. You must get that a lot because of your exposure. I don't travel in the mbti community at all and don't see it. To me it's not a thing. It really grinds my gears when people try to talk up to me like this.. please dont try and impress me with the same stories you use over and over again and think I dont remember; give me a genuine moment.. an original thought or observation, a human truth.. only then will I decide to trust ur rationale/logic

    There are those who fall in love, marry and transform into a stereotype, and then I still second guess myself and test it from time to time...
    I'm new here, and I'm still viewing older videos so I apologize if it was already discussed. There's a way to see this but with Ni? I'm guessing is harder to catch than Te, but my struggle always was to see which was the dominant, and I've watched that for some people N, especially Ni, seems a little sneaky 🤔

    Lol I must look like I peacock a lot bc of this but is it the same if I speak of these things only when it relates to what’s asked. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t just talk about it without its correlation to the topic. Aside from that-no mention. My results must show for themselves otherwise though because when I ask others for their opinions or views of my patterns and behaviors, they end up reiterating of me exactly what I already perceived of myself. Which I assume I’m only aware of to that level of reality bc of how much self reflection I do for improvement or being able to be functionally moving towards my goals. But that all said and clarified- so would that be the same?

    • @InternetLiJo
      @InternetLiJo  Před 4 lety +1

      Haha well when it relates to a question that's asked I would say that is very Te logical. I think there is a big difference in explaining something to someone so they understand (teaching) about yourself, vs a peacock state. A peacock state you are trying to gain status, teaching is promoting an understanding.

    What if I wanted to book time for an intj with you, just to see how two INTJs interact? Would this be unethical? I’m not entirely kidding. I would, of course, clear this, well in advance with the other Intj. But this is the strongest attribute in my opinion, of your kind, you guys do not have a fake bone in your body.

    Ah yes, the great dilemma of typing yourself and using it for an identity. I will admit, at first ( 3 or 4 years ago) when I started my MBTI journey, I fell into the trap of the stereotypes. While I was in fact typed correctly, I doubted my type because I didn't always fit into the stereotype of the "cold, logical, mastermind INTJ" and didn't always relate to other people claiming to be INTJs. Plus the internet is filled with truthful people right? It wasn't until I found OP that I really understood the world of typology. Show vs tell will expose the peacockers...

    If you don't believe it...why would anyone else.
    But why would you want to fool yourself...knowingly! Nevermind all the times that you don't know that you fool yourself?!
    I thought the reason to learn about mbti is to form a better understanding of oneself and others...
