Luka is all heart, As I've said for years 77 doing 77 things
He is ridiculously (even scary) good. (Slow for sure, but just as smooth, plays at his own tempo). That guy would fit in any era. his footwork, basketball I.Q. , passing ability, fadeways..etc...The only thing missing is a ring and an MVP title. But that's probably "mission impossible" if he stays with the Mavs like Dirk did. Maybe not "impossible" if he's surrounded correctly. Kyrie is great (when he's not injured), and Lively is also a great fit for this team. Hardaway Jr can sometimes be a reliable shooter but he's at times a bit inconsistant. But they need major changes for the rest of the Mavs. Same goes with their coach. As talented as Doncic is, it's still a team sport. Jordan had Pippen, Rodman, Kukoc, Grant, Kerr he could rely on..and
Phil Jackson was the icing on the cake (excellent coach). Magic Johnson had Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy, and Byron Scott.... The Mavs need better bench players and more reliable key players. With the right coach and some changes here and there...The Mavs have the potential to be a serious threat for the entire league. Either that, or Doncic will eventually have to leave the Mavs.

Regarding the defense, go back and watch the last 6+ minutes of Kobe's 81 point game, or just go to ESPN and look at the play by play recap... The Lakers were already up 15+, Kobe already had 60+ in the last 6 minutes, and the Raptors literally let this man shoot *EVERY SINGLE SHOT* for for the last 6+ minutes of regulation, in a game *the Lakers were already leading by 15+ points!!* Kobe took 12 out of his team's 13 final shots, including shooting from 3PT with his team up by 20 in the last 2 minutes!
Luka's game in contrast, the Hawks were doing anything they could in the last 10 minutes to keep Luka from getting 80+! They were blitzing him every time he touched the ball in that stretch, completely selling out on defense to stop him alone! Even when the Hawks had to foul while trying to catch up in the last seconds of the game, when every second was precious to their chances of making a last second comeback, they still refused to intentionally foul Luka and give him even one more point! They chose to lessen their chances of winning, rather than give Luka a chance to score even 1 more point!
The late game defense Kobe faced was a cakewalk compared to what Luka saw.
I hear you but imo I don’t want to compare both performances cus it’s two different eras and two players with different playstyles. We just gotta appreciate greatness

Whats good with Luka is that, you could see yourself making the same plays hes doing. I love that about him because he aint very athletic but hes just very crafty. He aint like Morant whos just relying on athleticism.

No one will ever be Kobe and only a few are even close to having mamba mentality. But Luka is def one of those who is getting close. For me he is the real MVP this year, carring the mavs. The list of injuries is absolutly insane. And because of that, the core of Luka-Kyrie-Dlive has only played 260ish min this whole season...Would love to see Shai, not having Chet and/or Williams. Love Shai btw so no diss.
I give one advice to all the Luka haters and negative people in general: Enjoy the basketball Luka is showing us on a night to night basis...while he is still here.

@@atenmccutchen7378Well I was only 9 when Kobe had 81 and NOT gonna compare both cuz it’s obv different eras BUT a player that I’ve got to witness a LIVE performance like Luka will always be impressive to me..he was also very efficient and almost had a triple double too

All the hate and disrespect that he's constantly getting from the US media and the NBA fanbase since his rookie year, combined with his elite raw talent and several years of professional experience in Europe has produced a man-child alpha in Luka. He's only 24 and won't reach his physical prime for a couple more years. I can see Luka getting 4-5 MVPs as well as 4-5 rings when it is all said and done.
