Oscar® nominee Tom Cruise (the "Mission: Impossible" films, "Collateral," "Jerry Maguire") and Emily Blunt ("The Devil Wears Prada," "The Adjustment Bureau") star in Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' sci-fi thriller "Edge of Tomorrow," under the direction of Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith").
The epic action of "Edge of Tomorrow" unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.
Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop-forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again...and again.
But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

It's a shame how this sci-fi masterpiece didn't hit in the box office as much as it deserved. Audience our days completely lost a good taste. The quality of idea and of film himself, level of empathy towards main characters it should've become new superhit.
THE MOST CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED MOVIE OF 2014. AMAZING MOVIE.
One of the best films of last year. Brilliant acting and dialogue. A sci-fi classic.
I am so critical of movies in general but this is by far the best sci-fi movie I have ever seen. I must have watched it about 6 times. Original and clever. I love this film.

Ha! did anyone else notice the irony? the invasion of the alien territories takes place on a french coastline. it's kind of like D-Day, right? In 1944, D-Day happened on the french coastline of Normandy. the invasion took place on June 6, 1944. Edge Of Tomorrow was released on June 6, 2014, exactly 70 years later.
The only bad thing about the movie is that Cage did not get to save his progress in the game.
For people interested in the Plot and not necessarily the movie the source material is available, it's an adaption of Yoshitoshi Abe's Japanese Manga, "All You Need is Kill" , the artwork is handled by Taekishi Obata so it's visually stunning and it's available online

Best sci-fi action movies
Trust me, you will not find a better sci-fi than this master piece.
This is an amazing movie ... tight editing, compelling story line, great action sequences. It's an enjoyable ride that deserves so much more in the box office!! Re-watched it again on DVD and its still incredible!
just watched it on Netflix.what can I say. A FUCKIN AMAZING MOVIE.
This is a really well made film. But, it is doing disgracefully in the domestic sales. WTF? When Jonah Hill brings in more money than a sophisticated adventure film, I don't know what to think about American audiences.

Wow this trailer is a huge spoiler to the whole movie. Good thing I didnt watch it before the movie.
Went to theater with low expectation, thinking its just another typical sci-fi action movie starring my favorite actress Emily Blunt and well, not a fan of, Tom Cruise.
That movie was awesome, just rewatched it 5 years later
