Glad you didn’t do any takeaways for the players. It would just be beating a dead horse.
The fact that we were playing against 10 men and still being outplayed by Roma should be evidence enough that the coach is the biggest problem with this team.

The man is not a good tournament boss. If you put the entire resume at Milan on the table he’s been a success, but there’s a ceiling with Pioli. He achieves good league results. But we won’t win the most important matches because they require sharp tactical game plans. And those tactics are not there with Pioli.

It’s always the same for Milan. The front 3 have little to no opportunities to effect the game because the midfield and back-4 aren’t connected to the attack. It’s fragmented.
It’s why you see at times some great play from the attack and then you’ll see long stretches of lack of goals. It’s not the front 3-4 players. It’s the ones behind them that aren’t controlling the game and supplying them with good opportunities!

The harsh truth is, Pioli can not beat top teams. He can not beat top coaches. The harsh truth is, Pioli is a mid-level manager AT BEST. The harsh truth is, Milan will never win another piece of silverware as long as Pioli is our manager. We're either serious about being a top team that compete for trophies, or we're not. We'll know which we are when ownership finally decides to either fire Pioli or retain him.

After watching your take on last couple of years it seems to me Pioli has just done what he was brought in initially for, steady the ship, the title won was a result of bringing the most out of a team which was still in construction but had quite a lot of talent and a massive luck factor, the combo of Theo and Leao burst into the scene and Serie A couldn't handle it combined with first proper season by Giroud along with Tomori Kalulu partnership which never got to develop further due to injuries. Since then there have been no fresh ideas, others adjusted to our strengths and we had no answer, Pioli will definitely ensure that we compete on all fronts every season, he will ensure we are present but he can never win us a trophy because for that you need moment of brilliance in individual matches, especially the ones that knock you out of the competitions, you need some out of the box thinking for that one particular match. The players yesterday simply looked uninspired, we needed Pioli to also develop with the rest of the team but it seems he has failed to evolve, the job has outgrown him.

I don't know what club mina supports, but unless she supports real madrid she doesn't understand what milan fans demand from a club with 7 champions league titles and 19 scudetti. I agree that 4 years ago coming out of the banter era we had to have very low expectations, however 7 years of banter era don't erase 124 years of history and suddenly transform us into Bologna. a serious and ambitious club after last year's 5th place (we finished behind Juve, only the penalty saved us), would have already eliminated Pioli because for 2 years Milan has been a disaster as soon as the level is raised. Decent coaches (even De Rossi who started yesterday in practice) have understood how to play against Milan: just don't allow counterattacks and avoid leaving the field to Leao and Tbeo, that's enough and Milan is finished. If Milan can't counterattack and can't play 1vs1s at speed, the team won't even tickle their opponents; Milan has no offensive schemes, they don't make triangles, they don't make one-twos, there are no insertions by the wingers to serve with holes, the Milan of the last 2 years is nothing from the point of view of the game, but against small teams have always been saved, (not always), thanks to individuals. Confusion reigns supreme in Milan, yesterday was just the re-presentation of something that has been clear to me for some time, then ok the defensive phase of Pioli's Milan is one of the worst I have ever seen since I watched Milan, actually to say the least truth be told, I struggle to find teams that defend worse than Milan. certainly there are teams that concede more goals, but because they have poorer players, but is it possible to find who defends worse? I do not know. However, don't make the mistake of placing all the blame on the mediocre Pioli, here the problems start from much higher up, starting from the ownership, which is only interested in speculating and making money, to move on to the company which is EMBARRASSING: Furlani Scaroni and Moncada are nothing, just think that in the whole season I have never seen a manager talking to the TVs after the match, and this is something for a third-rate team (they will pay dearly in the next few years for having kicked out the only one who cared about the club and the fans, so much so as to go against the owner, PAOLO MALDINI). And the worst is yet to come, because they will hire a coach who will perhaps be even more mediocre than Pioli, just look at the names being talked about. I don't see it well for the next few years.

My biggest knock against Pioli is that he doesn't know how to change up things. Always plays the same players, they get tired/overused and finally get hurt. The other players never play and when they play they're under immense pressure to perform. When he rotates players it never works out and at halftime he#s got to sub in the regulars to save the day. Usually sticks to the same tactics even if they don't really work anymore and when he tries to change something he comes up with crazy stuff like yesterday.
Wait till the end of the season? No way. Pull him into the office, thank him for his service and say that it's over at the end of the season. Pioli will be fine, he'll get the job at Napoli. Lock down whoever you want to replce Pioli as soon as possible so you can get input on transfers.

If a coach couldn’t believe in the quality of the midfield and pick Musah, Bennacer over Adli , Reijnders, and playing Calabria at the midfield, how would we expect the rest of the team to have the right motivation and believes to keep fighting.
Our players were low in confidence, misunderstanding, being so predictable in movements pathetically.
It reflected on the field ( Mike couldn’t control simple ball, Theo made a the weirdest pass back to Florenzi all the way to the other wing while we needed to pass the ball forward, and Leao kept losing the ball miserable)

His strengths would be better utilized in midfield where he can win balls and support our defense. I was hoping he would try the 4-2-3-1 formation that worked so well against Lecce, but his preference for Loftus as a CAM is clouding his judgment, preventing him from seeing other, possibly better, options; He often overlooks the fact that Loftus primary position is CDM & CM. Even when we won the scudetto it was not an impressive win. It was a scrape through win that Inter lost. Since 2009 we have looked worse than Inter. It’s disgraceful, ppl can say what they want about Maldini but Maldini understood what winning is, he understood what it meant to be rossoneri and he demanded excellence. Milan needs to replace Pioli and 6 of the 11 starters. Milan only has flops from mid-table teams and washed/lazy work rate players. Every single player on Milan is overrated and mid-level at best. We need world-class players not mid-class players who are team players and aren't lazy like half the players on the team right now. Milan never wakes up until the end of 2nd half. Literally every single game. Milan not only doesn't know how to score team goals but have horrible defense. We need a coach that will teach players to "never" cross the ball. Crossing the ball for headers is the only tactic Pioli has and is outdated. Physicality is one of the least important qualities in today's football yet all we do is pick up washed or flops with good physicality. We need players who don't make mistakes while passing and stop this 90s crossing BS hoping to score a goal which always leads to us conceding a goal. All passes from every single player is too obvious and every single team knows all Milan does is cross the ball in to Giroud or use Leao on the wing. Even Leao who is Milan's best player atm loses the ball 9/10 times. Milan can't keep possession 99% of the time even against mid-level teams. I honestly think the problem is bigger than Pioli and their mid-level players. I blame the scouters and recruits for managers and players. They literally build a team for failure thinking this is still the 80s. No strategy, no tactics, no team work. Only physicality and showboat skills. I am a 42 year old Milan fan who has been watching Milan since 1994. Our team has been going down hill since the mid 2000s. It's been over 20 years since then and it's still going down hill. Please replace the board after you replace Pioli and 6 of your 11 starters. This is the only way we can ever win a trophy.

Not making excuses for coach, but in my opinion, other than injuries at start, DEFENCE was the biggest weakness. Quality backline & midfielders were/are really needed to compete for trophies. Other than Tjders,Theo & Timori you are not going to win championships with the rest. Other than defend, you need solid midfielders & a center back that can move the ball forward. Top teams win close games; 1 goal, like the one Roma scored in the first game, makes a huge difference. Actually, their goals came on 2nd efforts with ACM defense picking their nose. Poor marking & not quick enough. DEFENCE!

If pioli is going there has to be a real analysis of who can replace him and improve upon his record whilst remaining within the confines of the sporting methods of the club. Without that getting rid of pioli is shortsighted and completely discounts the guttless attitude from some of the players. It really hasn't been that long from the banter era to act based on emotions rather than a clear analysis.

  • @tanf5
    @tanf5 Před 29 dny

Pioli's way of making his players work on the field shows more individual efforts but no team spirit. I often wonder how a team doesn't have a sync in the game. Let's say when Theo runs with ball or Rafa or Ruben then or Pulisic, the fan expects them to score. But I don't get it why not the team function in a way where they offer more constructive passing. Musah is so good with the ball yet the player does not pass in the key moments and does not create the game. Why this is the slowest in passing of all Serie A? Its because Pioli wants his team to show their individual skills more than the team efforts. Its just disappointing

I have been ok with Serie A and CL performance this season and think standards have been too high at times, also given the huge turnover of players. Now EL has been much greater fuck up and unlike the other two competitions I could understand sacking Pioli over them.
To play a bit of devil´s advocate it has to be said that Klopp´s Liverpool, a stronger team, crashed out against Atalanta, a weaker team. This is not a justification but gives a bit of perspective, but again this would be a just reason to fire him unlike chasing an Inter which only lost one match so far.

Easiest thing to do is to blame the coach. The coach has his own faults and limitations and it is easy to highlight all the arguments in the world to make him look the worst but big part of the problem is the management and the ownership and changing the coach will be a smokescreen. After winning the scudetto the mercato budget for 2 years was almost non existent and last year they fired Maldini and decided to overhaul the squad and everyone celebrated it. The winning mentality first and foremost comes from management and ownership. We don't have that I think in the next couple of years we will get rid of Leao, Theo and Maingan and will replace with Noah Chukwezi and Pulicic. The management wants a team that makes top four and some quarter finals finish in UCL. The reason why we are here is because of 3 bad mercatos after the title win. This mercato is critical this year if we continue as we are brace for another banter era. and yes buying 10 players isn't a good mercato. For example this year we don't have balance in the team. The defensive line isn't the problem the midfielder are the problem. We are not City or Barcelona to build a team on technical players and defend using possession......

Fans can be so ungrateful, especially Milan fans. Pioli is one of the best coaches Milan has had. Facts. Nothing can be taken away from this guy and what he did. Did his cycle end? Apparently. He can't get an average team to give 100% anymore, but that is a normal thing in football, even Anceotti's cycle ended so that's that. Battering him is so ungrateful and classless for a man who gave so much with an average team at best in recent years. His tactics and subs were more times the reason for getting points as compared to the other way around. Everybody talking about Conte should consider the fact that with Conte we will play anti football (Juventus style) and i certainly don't want to see that dead football style in Milan, another thing is that with Conte Leao and his laid back attitude will be benched for most games, so there's that.

Europa League - failed against inferior opposition, playing terribly in both legs - unacceptable
Serie A - will hand Scudetto (and 2nd star) to Inter in the next match - disgrace
These results are acceptable at a club like Fiorentina, where Pioli belongs, not at 7x CL and 19x Scudetto champions AC MILAN.

The writing is on the wall, isn't it. On last year's performance, I think you are a little bit unfair. Chelsea by that time of the season were not the disaster they would become and Napoli were beaten 4-0 in the league just before the UCL matches. I wouldn't minimise that achievement, the way you did.
Imo, this was the first part of the test. Getting at least to the UEL final was a must for Padre Pioli. The other match is the derby. But honestly this situation just looks too much like the end of a chapter and you're right: He's not going to be that guy (neither will Conte, Sarri or de Zerbi, these three are overrated). Let's not drag this over another season. It's time.

Pioli's advantage: He shuffles formation every match that he could, by accident, come up with a winning plan that can make Milan formidable for a time.
Piloi's disadvantage: He shuffles formation every match that he could, by accident, come up with a LOSING plan that can make Milan formidable...IN LOSING for a time.
Said it before and I will say it again. In the history books, this era will be looked at as Milan being insecure psychologically. When Milan have strength and desire mentally that team becomes unstoppable. But when the same team gets distracted mentally then any average team will wipe the floor with Milan. Enough that even seasoned players will look like they never played football before. That becomes irritating to watch as the years go by. How long will Pioli watch his team get mentally weakened? Does he not have a plan to shake them up for an entire season? Does he put the fear of God in them and they just walk into the pitch like scared puppies? Losing matches when they are insecure mentally is just unbearable. Might as well stare at a wall that would be more productive.
Now because of this mess they will come on top against Inter in the next derby and expect us to be like "at least we beaten this year's champion....RIGHT?" not knowing that we are wondering "where was this spirit months ago?"
