Solve Complex Differential Equations with Excel

  • Four differential equations and one algebraic equation are solved with Excel using Euler's method. Complex sets of differential equations often do not have an analytic (exact) solution but may need numerical methods to find an approximate solution.     Selectivity is tricky to optimize since it doesn't care about the quantity being formed. Usually is better to set as objective function the yield ;)

      +Franz Navarro, good point. The yield went to zero as the selectivity was optimized to one. The optimization solution surprised me the first time through, but it makes sense to limit the concentration of B so that very little D is produced.
