It's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats. This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad!

Bee Gees were the masters of tight harmony. This song was a donation to UNICEF that sold over 11 million copies. They hit it really big when they performed the title songs for the movie "Saturday Night Fever", which also launched the career of John Travolta. They also wrote scores of #1 hits for other artists.
The Bee Gees is a DEEP rabbit hole that could give your subscribers a ton of "Reaction" videos from you.

They changed the face of music in the latter half of the 20th Century. Their music was magic. I hope you'll check out a LOT more of their work. Maybe "You Should Be Dancing," where their youngest brother, Andy, joins them onstage for that one; or "Tragedy," or "Emotions." And the list goes on for a very long time. Great reaction.

Not only were they all #1 hits from 1979 but they were all written on the same afternoon! it's crazy when you even think about how talented these 3 brothers were!! I'm happy to see a new generation exploring--and appreciating!--the music I grew up with. The Bee Gees were pure talent. Please try not to interrupt the videos if you can. If you have to for CZcams purposes, please minimize the number of interruptions. You couldn't get the full impact of this song by breaking it up, and I want you to have the full experience of these songs. I suggest "Closer than Close" from the One Night Only 1997 concert, which has Maurice (pronounced Morris) singing lead, which he rarely does. A beautiful voice. I'm sorry he didn't sing lead more often. Also, "Alone." The version I want you to watch is the one which has the sepia tone/black and white thumbnail. It incorporates the recording of the song with personal home video clips and the official video. Two other songs I suggest are by Elvis and should not, not , not be interrupted or you will miss the entire experience. The songs build as he sings them, and are amazing in the full sense of the word. One is "American Trilogy" from the 1973 Aloha from Hawaii live concert. I can't emphasize enough what a big deal this concert was at the time, as this is the VERY FIRST concert broadcast live via satellite. I remember watching it. The other song is "If I Can Dream" from his 1968 Comeback Special. This is a powerful song, written the year Martin Luther King, Jr. and Senator Bobby Kennedy were assassinated and the Vietnam war was tearing our country apart. If you must interrupt it, do it early in the song, but if you don't have to please let it play through to experience its full impact. Just let the lyrics soak in. I remember when this special was first broadcast, though I was only 7 years old. I also remember when Martin Luther King, Jr.'s and Bobby Kennedy's assassinations were announced on television. A terrible time in history, but the '60s and '70s produced some phenomenal music.... For fun, try the clip of the title song from Elvis' 1957 "Jailhouse Rock" movie.... Btw, Barry Gibb, in the middle on this video, is still creating "hair envy" to this day with that beautiful hair of his.

They wrote many songs not just the ones they made famous but they wrote for others as well. Barry usually did lead but Robin has an amazing voice as well! I especially liked “I started a joke” it’s a sad song but beautiful. Robin also did “Massachusetts.” He did lead on the chorus of “Alone”
They wrote and produced all the songs for Saturday night fever, a movie back in 1977 which made them famous!
I really enjoyed your reaction and I hope you will react to one of Robin Gibbs solo.
Maurice did lead in a song called “man in the middle.”
It’s sad Barry Gibbs is the last brother living out of the four. They had a younger brother Andy Gibbs that did very well until drugs weakened his heart and he passed at the young age of 30

They were already famous im the late 60s🙂 and those songs were written before SNL, for their new studio album. They let their manager who produced SNF, listen to them and use them for the film. Agree, they need to listen to their whole decades spanning songs and definitely Robin's lead vocals.
