Do you like to make things from the unexpected? How about recycling old strings from an instrument into jewelry, ornaments, keychains, etc!

Just stumbled across this looking for guitar string projects. With the boiling have you ever tried water and rubbing alcohol. It's a trick I've used to brighten up the sound and clean strings for years.

No, I haven't. I have used vinegar in my boiling water. I don't really see a difference. I'll have to try the rubbing alcohol when cleaning them for my jewelry and ornaments.. Do you use alcohol and water on the strings on your instrument? I play the mountain dulcimer.

@@tappingflamingo I do but have only tried it on guitar string. And also yes I use half water and half rubbing alcohol.
