    Awesome step by step video! Including the possible things that can go wrong really helps the person wanting to do this them selves!

    I've been watching tons of paint prep videos and this was one of the best.

    I’ve been painting in LA. For 23 years. Something I respect about this dude is his uniform . Presentation means a lot. I recently moved to Texas and man I’ve seen the worse painters looking like they just crossed the damn border man . No class

    Thanks for also showing the common mistakes for first-time repair attempts! Wish me luck taking down the Dish TV on my roof...and the wire that leads nearly the longest route possible to a power box... there are lots of screws to fill holding the brackets around the danged wire. You're a HUGE help! Thank you!

    Thank you MB Jessee. You're the best paint and paint prep mentor, I'm helping my son prep interior walls and was so afraid of doing it wrong, You armed me with confidence. Many blessings to your family and your business.

    I really liked this video. Sure, it wasn't the superslick, highly edited stuff we are used to on CZcams but the information was really good.

    So you caulk the nail heads and then fill them with wood filler?

  • @DR-um2bv
    @DR-um2bv Před rokem +1

    Why not just use caulk for whole job. You said use puddy for holes, Then said use caulk.. why 2 products?

    great video, really had a problem with the nail holes on the hardy board, i used caulking but it looks horrible so I will purchase that spackling paste and use that. now i have to remove all the caulking but it will be worth it, then on too paint :)

    Who did the siding on this job, didn’t know you use 8 penny to hang lap siding. 😳

    Thank u for this video. Is this real wood siding? Can I use spackling or caulk on l.p. smart siding (not real wood, like osb).

  • @jasonbarner9931

    Not sure what the siding is in the video (looks like fiber board) - but at least in the case of Hardie board you should not tool the caulking - which I think is mostly due to them recommending certain types of caulking (elastomeric) and they usually tell you not to tool the caulk since you want enough material to get in and behind and also grab on to actually last...tooling you end up removing too much (interior stuff this is usually fine, not as extreme as exterior) and for cement board you can easily tool too hard and push the caulk into the texture of the board and it tends to look bad

    Why are you filling nail holes that have not been primed? I know it is hardy plank but do you not prime prior to caulking....... just saying

    Great video! What spackle/patch would you recommend for filling nail holes in Hardie Board? I was thinking Lanco Concrete and Mortar Patch and Repair, but am not certain that'd be best.
    Thanks!

    Actually you apply the material one direction, remove access going opposite direction. If you remove access same way you apply it. You remove material leaving divot.

    I recommend wearing gloves when applying caulking. It's very bad for your skin. And keep your gloves clean! Wipe them with a wet rag after every single wipe. Talking to customers with dirty hands and clothes is not professional. Paint gets onto everything easily, keep your hands clean gloves clean and keep a tidy job site.
