Yeah, when I was a kid in school they had the "zero tolerance" policy. So, when I got tackled to the ground and had my head slammed against the concrete all because I refused to let the bully steal my "rarest" yu gi oh card when I lost a duel (the school rule we were not allowed to do that and we agreed before hand we wouldn't) we'd both get in school suspension (in the same room) because I punched him in the eye... while he was slamming my head against the ground.
Or another kid that kicked me in the nuts then pushed me down the stairs, and nearly stomped on my head when he jumped DOWN a flight of stairs to land on me I got 3 weeks in school suspension and he got 2 weeks because he need to be on the football field. and that was because I didn't let him play my game boy when the last time he had it he tried to throw it down the same flight of stairs.
There was also the time I got punched in the head so hard the nurse was afraid I was leaking spinal fluid and I was required to get an x-ray but I got suspended because the bastard broke his knuckles on my head. and that was because I bumped into him and spilled my green drink on his white pants
I'm lucky i know how to tumble and have a thick fucking skull. But seriously why the fuck would I get punished when I was cleary the kid that got assaulted first AND THEY HAVE IT ALL ON CAMERA

The thing is. I'm close to Pippa's age. And we had similar bullying problems. Teachers did very little. Some were helpful. Bot lots of teachers did nothing, or even made fun of the bullied kid, which was me. One teacher of mine was bullying me. That shocked the whole class, and even the bully. In a way, the kids looked down on that teacher commonly, shared, and with disgust just so much, that they reported him. It's just so weird, that there was a whole generation of teachers, who protected bullies or frowned on the victim, attacking him for protecting himself.
Still. Even now there are cases of bad kids, or teachers, the school, not being willing to do something about the problem.
How long do you think this kind of thing has been going on for because the last time I saw something like that happen was middle school where some of the teachers were bullies themselves

Schools just care about their image and not having to deal with paperwork.
Having a kid be bullied for 3+ years is preferrable for them to dealing with the headache of expelling a bully. Education is compulsory so you cannot expel someone that other schools wouldn't take in afterwards.
Teachers are also bound by so many rules that most don't even try to get involved in stuff that could get them in trouble.
School councelor is also biased as the school pays his salary and not the students so its in their best interest to protect the school.
The best thing you can hope for is that bullies are too dumb to figure out how many rights and priviliges they have as a kid.

The hate is still in me too. Family moved, was having a hard time getting friendly with any one, didn't help that lying shit stirrers from my previous town moved the same town over the summer. Over the course of 6th grade - High School I had at least 2 people I could call good friends, and talking terms with at least a few others. But one guy with a similar first name to me, not only decides to outwardly dislike me despite any friendly attempts before hand, but actively sought ways to physically hurt me when possible. He was caught on camera trying to punch me, I was using a folding chair as a shield. And another time he pushed me down a flight of stairs at school, and one of his class mates saw what he did and reported it to a teacher who found me with the air nocked out of me (lucky I wasn't in worse shape, stone stairs). I will on a whim look around for the person in question. But as far as I'm aware, they've done well to keep off social media and the like.
Honestly, this is just sad. It's a shame that her life has been altered so much by someone who probably doesn't even remember her and it's a greater shame that children are punished for defending themselves. I was bullied once in elementary school by a group of three kids. I was taller than most kids back then and these kids were a lot shorter than me, but still, being outnumbered 3 to 1 is intimidating. I tried being peaceful, tried not letting it get to me, but it just continued on and on. Eventually, I was sitting on the bleachers at recess and the group approached me, started messing with me, and I hit the leader of the group as hard as I could in the stomach and he crumpled like paper. Now, I was very lucky that no teachers saw and the kid didn't report it, but they never messed with me again. Sometimes, it's worth taking the reprimand in order to make the bullying stop.
Pippa is such mood, there's always that one kid that gave you so many mental issue and traumas that deserve the worst fate, and "chill out it was in middle school they grown up to be a better person already" will never be enough to forgive them

There is a difference betwen a teacher and some asshat. A teacher will guide the students, get at bare minimum the respect of the class and will make them learn something. The asshat its just there because they just know the subject but are not interested in the slightless to teach and no one respets them... there is also the replacement teacher but no one respects them.

Unfortunately this sort of bullying is common. There is a certain kind of person that a portion of society just identifies and rejects actively. Teachers seem to approve of this and ignore it, even help enforce it by punishing the target when they retaliate in any way. I experiened it and the Lotus Eaters shared a story about a young boy in Britain who was in a Frosted Flakes commercial. When it aired everyone mocked him ceaselessly for being Tony the Tiger's friend... until he tried to kill himself. They are crabs in a bucket and will not allow anyone to climb out.
It really fucks you up when you realize as a kid that the entire school system just exists to cover its own ass when it comes to bullying.
Someone can terrorize most of their class for years and they maybe get detention if they do it in direct proximity of a teacher.
Its never anything worse and no matter how bad it gets just remember education is compulsory and no other school would take them so they are free to do whatever short of killing someone.

This brought back a lot of old memories. I remember there was this fucker that kept messing with me on the bus. Always sat behind me no matter what, fucking with the back of my head. One day I had enough and went straight for his throat and the bus driver had to separate us. I somehow managed to convince school faculty I wasn't in the wrong though and I got off scot-free while the other kid was suspended for a little while. Probably helped that I had a good reputation with staff up until that point.
Some people say the American school system is broken. But they say success is the best revenge. I think Pippa's winning.

I usually had the strength, and very quickly developed the apathy, to risk suspension or expulsion at the drop of a hat, whenever someone pushed me too far.
Ironically, fighting back usually reinforces its own kind of balance, and the people I fought against actually gained respect for me, whether or not I kicked their ass or they kicked mine. So long as everyone was on the same page about me being willing to break something, or be broken myself, the boundaries didn’t NEED to be reinforced by useless adults.
But bullies and shut stirrers are always allowed to prevail within overly feminized social structures, because no one is taught the value of owning their own shit, defending themselves, how to appreciate necessary violence, and other such lessons any man could have taught any kid.
And better yet, because I took the opportunity to fight back then and there, I have almost no underlying traumas or buried hatred’s for anyone that ever tried to bully me.
Of course, eventually I was socialized(aka neutered by the school system and parental neglect), and that shit turned into a different ball game, where snide bitchiness, clout chasing, reputation destructing became the winning strategies by the time I was in high school.
And OH BOY did I suffer there. A lot of us did.

It certainly would be cheaper (and thus reasonable to a lot more people) than the absurd costs lawsuits typically involve, that's for sure.

Help and support is easier asked for than given, and that's saying a lot, because help is _really_ hard to ask for. Our society is just so hypercompetitive and individualistic that asking literally anyone for unconditional, boundless love and acceptance is just going out on way too much of a limb, let alone actually _receiving_ it. For many, the trauma of reaching out and being denied isn't survivable.

I know of a lot of things you mentioned. Reaching out is very very hard. And as a third person, it's easier to command than to do it. But one of the biggest step, was getting those friends. So you can cry. Have someone to cry to.
