What other tiling jobs would you like to see in the future?
Mate did you have a video for the underfloor heating?
Kitchen and oven area splash-back tiling please 🙏
Have you got a video on underfloor heating?
A wetroom floor
Tiling the wall itself man! My next project....I saw how to remove bathroom tiles but how do you do that with a bath in the way safely???? I'd be just interested to know.....
I do a lot of tiling on my renovation projects for clients yet I still watched your video. I guess I just like watching someone else work for a change 😂 Top job.
Haha absolutely 👍, cheers
This is an amazing demonstration! in the shortest possible video you managed to include all the necessary steps. Very well done. 👍👏
Glad it was helpful!
would have never thought about the water ! cheers
👍😊
You make this look easy. I tiled my kitchen floor without the levelling system, I didn't do a bad job but there are definitely high and low spots so if I dare do it again I would definitely invest in that. Watching this full series as generally interested, your videos are from a UK perspective and there's no bullshit or time wasting in them.
Brilliant, always space to improve 👍
This is exactly the right way to apply tile adhesive, in one and the same direction - so you don't get a hollow sound or air under your tiles either. Too many YTs just throw it on the floor and smooth it out in all directions, they might find out in the long run that it can cause problems! Love your videoes by the way.
Absolutely 👍. Glad you like the vids
You really demonstrated the importance of a dry fit for aesthetics. Nothing worse than slivers of tiles in the corners! 👍
Very true! Cheers
I'm currently doing my bathroom by myself and help from mates and the diy guy. I can't tell you how much I am appreciative mate, nice 1
Great to hear!
Dude your videos are so clear and you cover everything. I had my clips in and dis winder how i would get them out. Going to buy a mallet
Excellent video, better than most pro vids I've watched.
If I may add a few points?
- Measure the water:grout ratio (or stick to the manufacturer's guidelines) that you used in case you need to add / replace any in future, then it will be a colour match and not look slightly different to the original.
- Don't use shiny glossy floor tiles in a bathroom, as they're lethal when wet.
- When wiping the grout, keep at 45 degrees to the grout line where possible, then you won't wipe any out of the joint.
👍
Looks amazing!
I have the same tile cutter and the same grinder and same abracs blade, love it
Haha good man
Quality from start to finish and lots of useful handy tips along the way Perfect!
Glad you think so!
Well done on installing the floor heating!
Great video as usual. I’m learning so much following your guides. Please keep it up.
Thanks, will do!
Looks absolutely beautiful work... Nicely done!
Thank you! Cheers!
What you failed to show here is what you put on top of the wooden tongue and groove floor boards, is it cement board or a membrane?
Excellent video, full of tips and tricks.
Glad you liked it!
Brilliant vid keep up the great work..easy my favorite DIY content on here!
Thanks, will do!
Great video, would love to see a video on boarding/insulating a loft if you haven’t already done one
Great suggestion!
Beautiful floor.
Cheers 👍
Fantastic job great video loved it.
Thank you very much!
Wow that looks so good 👍❤️🇬🇧
Cheers
Good job mate, well explained and executed! One thing i woukd add for thr average diyer is to use a slow set adhesive. The last thing you want is to be rushing to try and lay the batch before it sets in the bucket. Ask me how i know 😅
Hahaha great point! Flexi bucket anyone 😂
Great video very informative and helpful. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Dude - this video is awesome! Great Job! And thank you! 🙏
As a retired painter and decorator with 50 years experience I also tiled floors and laid laminate flooring.
I enjoy watching your videos.
If I can give you and anyone else watching this video some advice, please wear knee pads. I didn't, and now I'm paying the price as i need knee replacements. Everyone please wear knee pads.

Absolutely 👍 thanks
Lovely job!👍👍
Thanks 👍
We want to see a loft conversion 😊
It’s a great suggestion. Keep an eye on what’s to come later this year 😉
@@TheDIYGuy1 Question . What would be a fair price for a velux window flashing kit and installation?
Great job mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Proper job boy.....as always 👌🏻
Oh yes 👍
You make this stuff look easy, well done and look forward to the next instalment. You’ll soon be living in the best gaff in Blighty!
Haha thanks 😉
Is there anything this man can’t do ? Great video as usual 👍
I appreciate that!
Nice one. Thanks man.
Your welcome
I've been a glass blower for 25yrs & I'm due to be made redundant in July2025. Plan to retrain as a handyman, your videos provide amazing content. Thank you so much for all your hard work. Unfortunately you make it look so easy😢😊
Glad to help
good job. there is special tool Grout rake tool , which is to clean the space between the tiles. It is like a knife but the sides do the job. I tiled my bath floor on the OSB boards and the grout cracked. I removed everything , put cement boards and tiled on top and now is fine. It it hard to tile on wood sometimes.
👍
Looks good.
🙌👍
I like your channel. Very good, clear help and advice.
I appreciate that!
Great video, would be really usefult o see the self-leveling as there isn't loads out there for using it on floor boards. Keep it up.
Will do!
👍👍👍 Great information. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you ,nice useful video
You are welcome
Brilliant 👍🏻 Great video as always, Would like to see how you installed the under floor heating
Coming soon!
Great video
Thanks for the visit
Great tip about the water you can get away with normal water on whites and beiges but never with greys! End up light grey and dark grey! Great videos as always!
Absolutely, thanks👍
Sigma cutter? Best tile video on you tube!
Thanks. It’s a montolit cutter. Sigmas are good too
your videos are awesome 👍
Glad you like them!
cracking job :-) I always spend a long time planning!!!! My bathroom flooring is just over 2.5years in the planning stage so far!!!! LOL!!! - How's about including some plaster-in LED profiles in your next plastering / tiling video... seen some amazing in wall / ceiling installations online... even bendy in-plaster profiles... look amazing
Great suggestion! Sounds like planning is going well 😉
This is a great series you doing here, the bath you are fitting is it a steel bath or composite one. I would appreciate it if you could do a video covering earth bonding in bathrooms if possible. 👍👍
Shower and walls next hopefully 😊
😉
Nice video👍🏻 like you I live in Norfolk and learned the hard way regarding hard water on a customers floor a few years ago with BAL gunmetal which went frosty! Rake out and do it again after speaking to technical! Longwater Sainsbury’s that well known builders merchant 😂👍🏻
Haha yep 😉. Cheers
Just what I needed, thanks pal.
I don't think I've seen the video about laying the underfloor heating?
Your welcome. No, it’s in bathroom renovation part 2. This is a standalone video
Great job 👍And very useful. Waiting to see wall tiling. Tips for tiling around Bath, for proper seal etc.
Thanks 😊
Would love to see the full underfloor heating install, and also the wall installation. I've currently removed a load of old tiles and will use dumawall tongue and groove for the new finish. My walls are concrete. I'm wondering how crazy I need to go removing the old grout to make the surface as smooth as possible...
All coming in part 2 of the bathroom reno
Nkce job looks pro
Thanks 🙏
Tiling a bathroom please. Looking to take this job on for the first time!!
👍 you can do it
Tiling has been one of the jobs I've been afraid to give a go. The final detail of any room and needs to be bang on. Great vid will definitely be referring back to it when I'm brave enough to tackle our ensuite 😂
You should give it a go. You could always start by tiling a practice board
@@TheDIYGuy1 have considered this but rather go all in, just like I did with the garage doors and your video. It usually works out well 😂
😊👍
Love these videos! Did you record part 2 of the complete renovation ? So keen to see the rest!
Yep coming soon. Thanks
نعم
Yep 👍
No primer before tiling on substrate, adhesive only for floor should be thin coat for tiles also. Nice vjdeo regards.
good job i have 2 suggestions when cleaning grout better to do it same way as joint gives better finish and some tiles even some porcelean tiles need to be sealed especially in bathroom but good job
Great job!
Did we miss the video of the underfloor heating going down and the self leveling mix?
Cheers. Nope that’s part of the bathroom renovation mini series. This is a standalone vid.
@@TheDIYGuy1 Great. Wouldn't want to miss it 👍
I am looking to redo my bathroom this summer, so these videos have really come at the right time. Have you made a video regarding the underfloor heating that you have installed. If not, could you please provide a link to which one you have used.
Perfect, it’s coming soon
What underfloor heating was that? How hard was it to install? Would love to hear this covered in this series
It’s thermo sphere. It will be covered in the next bathroom renovation episode 😊
My bath sits in an alcove similar to yours ie it touches three walls, my plan is to remove my bath and fit a shower tray and glass doors with upvc shower cladding on the three walls, are there any down sides to using the bathroom cladding as opposed to tiling the three walls?
❤️🇬🇧
Hi great vids!!!, a quick question, did you use expanding foam to create a perimeter for the self leveling?, or better still will you do a video on self leveling???. Thanks
Great video! What underfloor heating did you use?
It’s a thermo sphere 👍
I would love to see you lay that underfloor heating. Did you do that yourself?
It will be covered in the next bathroom renovation episode 😊. Yes I did 👍
Just wondered if you'll ever explain how you are an expert on everything DIYL
😂 I’m no expert but I do know some stuff.
Can I apply that levelling cement over Plywood flooring panels?
Great video. Makes a lot of sense. I wanted to ask advice...We have tiles on our bathroom floor which have been laid on hardie board like your example here. They were fine for years but we suspect water has gotten into the substrate below the hardie backerboard (via the hinge where our shower screen is where the seal isn't great) as in the last year we have had grout and tiles cracking. Despite our best efforts to remedy it, it seems to have created a domino effect. Do you think we would need to remove tiles/hardie backer and original substrate (most likely chipboard) to fix the issue? I didn't know if it was possible to completely redo a bathroom floor without redoing the whole thing!
Also, why do you not lay hardie backer board completely under a bath? Ours is like yours here where it only partially goes under and I thought that was a mistake on the original installation by the previous property owners? Would really appreciate your advice on this. Thanks
River water( or similar) or rainwater possibly could work too, as soften?🤔Good tip , for grouting, didn't know🤷♂️
👍
Great video! Is there one for the wall coverings?
Not yet but in future
Do you put the cut edge in the doorway or flip it around to get a nice finish in the doorway
Another great video thank you. I have been following carefully as I plan to rip out my bathroom and have a go myself. What are the boards on the wall, will you plaster or tile on top of these?
Cheers for watching. Those are fibo boards. They are pretty expensive but give a lovely finish. I cover these in the next bathroom renovation episode
@@TheDIYGuy1 Thanks for replying. I will look forward to the next episode. TY
Great job, do you need to back butter all tiles or just floor tiles Cheers
Walls and floors 👍
Hi, great video. To use the levelling wedges, do you have to let the very first tile set first before using the clamp and wedges to level off it? Thanks 👍
Thanks. Nope, level first tile and your good to continue without setting
Nice job but i do have a question as it wasn't entirely clear. You say timber floor but it didn't appear that you put the underfloor heating and self-leveller directly on to the floorboards. What board did you use in between?
What wall boards you used to finish, maybe video for that, as alternative for tiles. Could be usefull too, for those who don't wanna tile walls🤔
Fibo boards. Coming in bathroom renovation part 2 👍
What's that about at 11:33? What did I do wrong? Only joking. You're fantastic
Do you not use waterproofing membrane in the UK?
Can you add how to do a fall?
Exactly how I do it except I’ve always just used tap water for grout. Never had anyone complain and not noticed any issues in my own bathrooms. Maybe I’ve been lucky!?
I always measure the room and then work out tile and divide room size by tile size+ 1/2 grout width to see where I'm going to end up i.e. close to wholes I know I'm in danger of slithers.
Will you be making a video on installing the underfloor heating?
Coming in bathroom renovation part 2. This is a standalone vid 👍
@@TheDIYGuy1 Great, thanks! Great video as always!
Great video, very well explained. Congrats . What’s the name of that tool u used to spread the self leveling compound?
Thanks. It’s a trowel and spiked roller
@@TheDIYGuy1 Thank u.
What’s the logic for boarding the bathroom rather than tiling and are we going to get a video on that? I looked at boards for my last shower and was disappointed with choice and reviews so be interesting to hear your knowledge and experience!
Great informative vid. That first tile you lifted up did not have complete coverage. You can clearly see the uncollapsed ridges.
Great video! What tiles were those?
Thanks. I can’t remember the name of them. Black gloss tiles 300x600 from CTD
@@TheDIYGuy1lovely, cheers mate 😊
it was about water that made me curious, the film was very helpful
Glad to help 👍
Kitchen wall and living room (starting point) please. Thank you.
Great vids for the bathroom.
I have a quick question. There is a gap between my shower tray and wall( wet room). I had to put a tile in between. But water keeps going through and going down in the kitchen. I used grout, it came out. Used silicone, they work for. Few weeks then start to leak again. Any tips please
If it's big enough to put a tile in it must be quite a gap... You could use some tanking tape along the join (underneath the tile), flexible waterproof adhesive and grout for the tile and then run a good sealant on top of the tile where the floor meets the wall to finish (I'd use dow785 sanitary sealant - it's great stuff). Others might have better ideas mind.
@@jayc4734 thank you. I will do that and hopefully the leak stop. Its been a nightmare
Could you use big wipes?
Sure can
Top class.
But now your missus has proof on camera that you can hoover and do the wiping up!
😂
Hmm this videos is giving spoilers for the bathroom renovation project :p
Oh yes 😉
Would this work for kitchens too?
Yes, absolutely
What are the wallboards you're using and are they easy to install?
Fibo panels in cement grey. Pretty easy 😊
@@TheDIYGuy1 They look very smart
What panels have you put in the walls and where did you get them please I’m in the uk also
Fibo boards 👍
@@TheDIYGuy1 are they the finish or do you tile on them?
They are finishing boards.
@@TheDIYGuy1 cool thanks
is this part 2 as alot has been done since part 1 ending?
Nope this is a standalone. Part 2 is coming 😃
Never seen anyone use bottled water to mix grout, and Sainsbury's too! Blimey, don't you have a Lidl near you? 😂
Haha it’s something someone shew me a couple of years ago. Before then I always wondered why ebony black grout looked rubbish. Ahhh no Lidl 😉
Did we miss an episode before this one where you laid the heated floor?
Nope it’s in the bathroom renovation episode 2 that’s coming soon. This is a standalone vid 👍
No durabase matting?
Not needed as this has jackoboard glued and screwed on top of the subfloor
