1 pound ( 453 grams ) margarine
3 cups (600 grams ) sugar

1 tbsp ( 14 grams ) baking powder

My family favourite cake,I always have to make and take every time I visit.I use the same ingredients you do,only I use eight eggs instead of twelve .And I add one egg at a time while I cream the sugar and margarine(butter)And it always comes out like your.Yummy.😋😋😋

Your sponge cake came out very moist and delicious. I'll be making this cake this evening after my lasagna dish. Also, brilliant idea for using the cookie container as baking pans. Sometimes you get some really beautiful cookie container and find it so hard to just throw them out as garbage, now I find a use for them.

Sorry real nice Guyana I thought dear Molly was doing all the mixing with her spoon I saw later that she did use a mixer.In the beginning she was creaming the butter and sugar with her spoon so I thought she had to use her spoon all the way through.Growing up in Guyana we had to use spoons to cream our sugar and butter,oh! boy that was real hard work lol.Glad those days are over,it's modern times now.Anyway send me a slice of that cake pretty please

Camille I can relate to that creaming really well, we had a neighbor who used to bake a lot and she used to catch us unsuspecting little boys to cream the sugar and butter.😲 O God!!! we used to be there for hours and hours, turning and turning and turning😳😳. the thing is they were a well respected and nice family, so it was hard to refuse or make excuses
Eventually we started to 'dodge" her 😁😁😁but she still used to catch us once in a while, lol.

10 eggs can be used in the recipe instead of 12.
