    As long as I have some colourful lights bouncing around at a party while the music's playing, I'm not particularly bothered about better quality. I want cheap gear that will make me some profit quicker. If I have to pay 3 times the price for my gear, I'll default to cheaper items every time. And seeing as my DJ gear has been robbed so many times I can't even count, the cheaper items are a MUST option for me.

    Good Video Rick!! I have both ADJ Mega Tri and the cheap.. for most weddings the cheap works great (par 36), even as uplights if using DMX mixer. To solve the cord issue.. Get a small tube of clear silicone and squirt a drop where it goes into fixture. You can always get it out if needed. Don't use super glue. I use my Mega Tri's when we're doing more corporate events where image is everything!!

    Also, easier to control with a light controler.

  • @meldmagic
    @meldmagic Před 6 lety +5

    Been looking into lights lately, and realised they now have PARS or moving heads that have Red Green Blue White Amber + UV leds on them. Each diode can do multicolors rather than being a fixed single colour.
    For a disco/chill room at home, USB RGB strip lights may suffice so if you are not a gigging DJ check them out as well.

  • @physixger
    @physixger Před 4 lety +4

    "30$ PAR" is even an overstatement. There are sellers on Amazon offering 10-packs of these for 120€, so "13$ PAR" is more accurate. And for that they are incredible value.

    • @physixger
      @physixger Před 4 lety +1

      @@DJiMike1 DMX on mine works as intended and instantly. I use a cheap Tomshine 192 channel DMX controller. Connect them either directly by XLR cable or using a wireless receiver, set them to "d001" or any other DMX channel you like the control to start at. Then activate the respective "fixture" button on your controller and you should be able to control the channels. The channel definitions on mine are: 1 total brightness, 2 red, 3 green, 4 blue, 5 strobe/transition, 6 speed. (I know there are other versions with slightly different channel setups out there)
      Keep in mind that to have them light in a certain colour, you have to set both the brightness channel and the respective colour channels to something non-zero.

    Lixada 7x10 RGBW LED par. Has the same in/out as the ADJ, it's brighter, and is only $40 each. I've had mine for over four years without any failures. I also only use DMX, so I don't care about the built in programs.

    Hmm we made terrible experiences with cheap lighting (short lifetime and occasionally they will just not work...). Then again as general Stage-Tech engineers we tend to have more light-uptime than DJs. Nowadays we only go for name-brand lighting and spend the extra money. Our recommendation for RGB Pars: The Stairville Outdoor Tri LEDs (100$ for RGB and 130$ for RGBA Variants).
    Useful Sound Mode, very Bright, Great Build Quality, Outdoor capable, what more could you want?

      +Mike Proios yes I am aware and covered in some what in the review. But basically its the exact same speaker as the the 700. All the 800 series speakers using the exact same amps, woofers, and tweeters as the 700 series. The only thing that is new is they added a eq app via wifi for the speakers. Which is pretty sweet, but not worth the difference in price personally. Especially since the 700 series went way down in price!

    I have the ADJ Pros and the remote but never used any setup like this before.
    When I first used the remote I was a bit frustrated because I figured all I had to do was pick a color. I didn't buy these for DJing I bought them for color backlights for photo and video shoots.

    Generic fixtures are good if you have clients that won't pony up the dough. also, if the light is too sound active, cover the mic with tape. If the manufacturers of the cheap lights would make them power linkable, they would sell more.

    Btw someone who is starting on with scene lighting and buying Led lamps. Don't make same mistake as I did. I bought Led lamps RGBW that had 24 leds each on 12W. 12W is really strong and it hurts in eyes when having those pointed from close distance to the singer in scene. Instead you should buy something like 50 leds each on 3W or similar.

      Yes they're more around 15 bucks. I usually wait till I find a sale they're 10-12 bucks. I've got 7 of them that way and they work great. Now Sound mode is too sensitive and does turn into just a fast strobe. I'm still working on that. If I can get just one or 2 less sensitive I can use them as Masters and slave the others

    thank you for making this video. I have done this as a hobby for many years, yes I am from the old school. It has been 5 years since my last gig. I just recently hooked up with an up and comin band that has a great sound and they get better every week. 'Ickarus Gin'. I hope to take them to the next level with my light show for them. The new tech now blows my mind and it is like I am starting all over. I have spent over 2k in the last 5 weeks to make their show a memorable moment for new years eve. TY again. My name is Chadwick Jason Millican on FB if any one would like to collaborate about lighting. I would like to know your knowledge.

    I don't know what he sees but he's clearly biast. That 30 Dollar Par is Much Much brighter than the first light it was compared to and Much brighter than the second light it's brightness was compared to. He said they were close, then later said it "comes close" to being as bright as one of the brand name lights. He i's right that on camera lights don't look the same as in person, but that's not true about brightness when comparing side by side on same take. That 30 Dollar generic par is easily identifiably brighter than both brand names. Check it out at 7 minutes and 55 seconds. Which one would you rather have it the dark! For 30- 50 dollars more those Brand name lights better have some things better about them. Most flaws he's mentioning aren't that big a deal. I'm not paying an extra 30-50 bucks for one light for bigger buttons, or cause there's a little red in the white. Now being too sensitive in sound mode is really the only draw back to me but still for the money I'll order the cheap one and find a way to dampen that sound sensitivity. What do you guys think?

      It's human nature to justify our decisions. He makes a couple good points, but taking a sticker off the microphone could make a much closer comparison. With that said, thanks for taking the time to show these off Rick
