  • Wanna whiff punish like the pros? Here’s an easy way to do it. Wanted to add to what‪@SupermanSajam‬ has said about setting up an automatic whiff punish by having your opponent block your attack.

    actually a really great way to teach people to play neutral tbh. telling people to start by playing low risk and waiting for people to throw themselves at you works really well

    This video is gold. I now understand why your wiff punished have been so good in our matches

    Such a simple but effective method. Good idea

    this might work to a point, but i think once you start facing better opponents, they're likely not gonna be whiffing a lot at that distance and opt to walk you down to the corner instead if you're staying that far back. you should ultimately go into training mode and look at the ranges of your opponents' normals and stand just outside of their most used normal to bait them into using it, ie, dancing back and forth. foosies.

      Yes you’re 100% right. I meant for this to be a general “cheat code” to spacing. There are sooo many detailed and well-made guides about neutral and footsies in general that I feel like I wouldn’t contribute much if I made my own. Instead, I was thinking about how to make it easier for folks. Like a “Modern Controls for Spacing” if you will.

    Never thought about using the meter for spacing, great insight

    • @WeHoBo
      @WeHoBo  Před 10 měsíci

      Yeah I was struggling until I decided to look UP where the meter stays in place instead of looking down or just between

    Genius!! I need to try this with Manon since she has to play the most footsies in the game IMO.
    Side note: Man you make Jamie look soo good in this game!!

    Very interesting trick. What happens in a ditto? Would both characters stay at a range and never hit each other?

    • @WeHoBo
      @WeHoBo  Před 10 měsíci +9

      Hi there! Couple things happen in a ditto (and any other match really). First, if you noticed, the buttons you can push to whiff punish someone all move Jamie slightly forward. So if both people are at that range, whoever pushed the button first loses. But in a real match, if you intend to connect with a move, you would move forward a couple steps first to make sure you don’t whiff. There are some excellent guides on footsies and neutral out there you can watch and read. Search either “footsies triangle” or “sonic hurricane footsies handbook” if you want a complete breakdown of it :)

    Amazig advice, mate. You know what the spacing vs guile is?

    • @WeHoBo
      @WeHoBo  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Same as the distance for Ryu and Ken. From that distance, watch out for Guile’s 1) Spinning Backfist; 2) f.HK ; 3) Upside-Down kick; and 4) so at hop kick (f.MK). Punish with your own sweep or st.HK!

    Awesome video! This might be what I need to start whiff punishing consistently. Just to be clear, when your opponent is in the corner, do you mean you should stand two drive gauge bars closer to the round timer?

    • @WeHoBo
      @WeHoBo  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi, glad this helps! So I misspoke in the video actually. When you’re opponent is in the corner, you actually need to be THREE and a bit gauges in, closer to the round timer.

    • @p1xeled
      @p1xeled Před 10 měsíci

      @WeHoBo I'll try it out, thanks again!

  • @sames44048
    @sames44048 Před 10 měsíci +1

    It's a neat trick but i feel like i would lose focus staring at the drive gauge meter instead of what my opponent is doing, but this is just how i think about it. I'm sure you and others can implement it properly

    • @WeHoBo
      @WeHoBo  Před 10 měsíci +2

      @iimoja found that you can lower the meter in your settings menu so you don’t have to look up. Give it a try!

      @@WeHoBo Totally forgot that you can customize the UI in this game. Probably not very viable to do in tourneys, but insane nonetheless. Thanks.

    how does this work? is it because the op is most often in 3/4 of the screen? when he is not upclose or in the corner

  • @SneakyTiKi
    @SneakyTiKi Před 10 měsíci +1

    good video, my only issue is this only really explains it for jamie, so the title is just a tad misleading.

    • @WeHoBo
      @WeHoBo  Před 10 měsíci

      Every character has their own “safe distance”, so you can also use the drive gauge on top to find the right distance for your own character.
