- If you've been watching this channel for a while, you've probably come across some phrases or words that you continue to hear pop up. Some of it may sound confusing- but not anymore! Taylor and Alec are here to discuss some of the lingo they use in their daily lives that originated from the theme park industry. This is by no means all of the phrases used, as that will require another video!

Next video, you should do more vocabulary but mainly focused on the coasters. Like explain or show pictures of what’s a double helix, an inversion, outward banked turn, lift hill, mid course brake run etc
Those are more technical terms. This is not intended to be a technical video, and focus less on the specifics of roller coaster elements and more the phrases you might hear as an enthusiast

I went to a jazz camp and one of the teachers was a chair enthusiast. He wrote an entire piece featuring multiple movements, about chairs. He called it the chair suite. When he and his combo performed it in front of us, during the second movement, there was a pause, and in that pause, someone in the audience just says “chair”. Nothing more, nothing less. Everyone laughed.

Wonderful video Taylor. Some of those I heard. I loved how you shared some of your personal terms. On the subject of bathroom. Lrotot. Last ride of the night on Torro. Also I am glad you made that point about GP. For my enthusiast friend and I aGP is someone who either doesn’t follow or is uninformed about roller coasters and their minutia. But I also know some GP that have ridden a lot of coasters but don’t know The terminology but know that they are safe. For me my friends and I will sometimes gently tease the GP but never to their faces. We’re never flat out rude or harsh to them because you don’t have to be in enthusiast to be cool. We’ve all been there. I was technically a GP until part of the way through this year. Though I have to say it is a little fun scaring them on rides you know they’ll find scary like Kah or Torro. But my sister and other good friend are GP so I try to be nice for their sake. I’m always up for educating people who want to know more about coasters. I’ve never heard the term thusies.
I guess I'm halfway between GP and enthusiast, I love learning about roller coasters and I love riding them, but every time I look at a roller coaster I get like super nervous about riding it even though I know I'm safe and that I'll likely enjoy it. Before getting on a coaster I've never ridden before I usually do a couple deep breathing excercises to lower my pulse and that helps.
Unabashedlyanne there’s no shame in that. I get nervous too. I almost chickened out of kah when I rode it in May. My sister didn’t do it because she claims she was recovering from Torro.
Speaking of creds, I don't count rides like Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts and Journey to Atlantis (Orlando) as credits, because both rides only have one drop/turn. Gringotts is a dark ride that uses coaster track and trains to do what it needs to do and Atlantis is a water ride with one coaster element (the main drop doesn't count).
This is literally soooo helpful for all of my friends!!!!
I have always loved coasters since I was a kid. This summer I drove to CP by myself for a week.
It only made since to buy a platinum pass. I made the trip because I really wanted to ride TTD at least once in my life.
I had never heard of SteVe before the trip, only saw a show on the Travel channel a few years ago about CP.
I drove 12 hours in that first day and got the the park around 5PM and TTD had been down for the day. I rode a few other rides. The next morning I was waiting with the early entry people and they told me they were all running to SteVe first thing. I asked about it and told them I don't really like wooden coasters. They told me to just ride it. I jogged down and go on it about 4th or 5th train and I was just WOW!!!!!! I only rode it twice each day because of the long lines, once first thing and once in the evening. Got 10 rides on SteVe that week. I did ride TTD 10 times in one day and have 21 rides total on it. Also did 5 rides on Milly in one hour that week at early entry. Any way my week was up and I went home. Labor day weekend was coming up and I had made some plans to do some stuff when It hit me I would take one day off at work and have 5 days in a row off. I dropped my plans and drove back up to CP. I really missed riding SteVe!!!! I already had the platinum so why not. I got 11 more rides on SteVe in those 5 days, hardly riding anything else. The wait for SteVe is worth it!!
Anyway the last regular day of the season at CP, Septemper 2, 2019 I was the very first rider of the day on SteVe. Rode very back, left seat. I got another ride in midday and was planning on 2 more before the park closed. But line for SteVe just kept getting longer and I knew I was only going to get one more in, not two. I talked to the staff at the front of SteVe and they told me that the chain goes up at 10 minutes after park closing time. So I crossed the chain 9 minutes after and was the last rider of the day also.
I didn't know that this was a thing, but I guess it is. Being first and last of the day. So I guess I'm not GP. Lol!
5:55 it’s so weird hearing the word “Lucas” come out of GPlecs mouth

My favorite "slang" isn't really slang because it's a pretty solid term, and probably a lot of you have heard it before. "Weenie." It sounds like weenus, which is the extra skin on the outside of your elbow, but it's actually a real term used in theme parks and architecture. As far as I know, it was developed by Walt Disney as he wanted the Imagineers (the creative force behind the Disney parks) to create certain "visual magnets" to guide guests from one area to another. Weenies in Disney parks include Cinderella's Castle, Space Mountain, the fake Mount Everest for Expedition Everest, etc. Pretty much every park has a weenie too, for example, I would say The New Revolution is a weenie at Six Flags Magic Mountain because it's one of the first rides you see, and it's aesthetic loop really makes you wanna go over and ride it. So like all the other terms in the video, "weenie" can be used outside of parks. In architecture, it might be a main centerpiece in a plaza, or a really intricate design element on a building. And it can be really anything that grabs the attention of a lot of people, such as a big neon sign for a restaurant. So next time something gets yours and your friends' attention, be sure to call said thing a weenie. What the weenie!?
I woulda thought "6 & 12" referred to the positions of the clock and like 12 is a pee and 6 is a poo cuz front and back haha... I really like how professional that term sounds
Why do I feel like I just watched an 8th grade presentation
People might actually be flattered if you call them a GP because they'll think it means General Practitioner.
I've always thought of the technical definition of general public is basically "customer of park (not employee)." But as an enthusiast, it's a useful short term for non-enthusiasts. Some people are a bit elitist and get hung up on the technical definition. It's not meant to be a harmful or mindlessly snobby term, though it can be used that way.
Alec is pretty adorable 😍
One question that's not directly related to this video, but whenever I watch a video about some Disney Park they talk about "E-ticket Attractions" what does that mean? Can someone explain?
an E-Ticket ride is a premiere attraction. Anything that is a big ride that will draw in crowds. So for instance, Star Wars Galaxy's Edge has 2 E-Ticket rides.
Former WDW Guest Relations (Relator? Lol) here. The origin of the term "E ticket ride" goes back to Disneyland's opening. Instead of paying an admission and all rides included you paid the admission and got a booklet of paper tickets ranked A through E. The "A" tickets would be for the simplest rides like the Main Strreet trolley whereas the E ticket rides were the top attractions like Space Mountain with the other tickets roughly filling the in-between...like Jungle Cruise or Pirates of the Caribbean. Even a decade after Disney used those ticket media, guests would still come into City Hall with boxes...yes BOXES of unused (usually A &B) tickets seeking credit. Coolest part was Disney honored them as there was no expiration date. So, if you're rummaging through an attic or garage and happen upon them SAVE THEM. They're worth more in memory than in actual cash, but they DO
have value folks!
I like to use the term "signature", as in signature attraction or signature coaster. They're what bring people to parks. Generally, the more of these a park has, the better it is. Great Adventure's signature coasters, for example, are Nitro, Kingda Ka, and El Toro.
Here we go: my mom knows what airtime is and once I jumped into a river and she shouted 'AiRtImE' god it was annoying (on video too!) Funny aswell, was on national roller coaster day (2018)
I'd shout "Airtime!" myself while jumping into a river😂
In the Netherlands we have something called: kwanten, there is an entire originstory, but in short you're Just going to ride a ride many times back to back, so no breaks or other rides in between

(Last Night of the Night on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit)
I'd love this kinda thing with types of roller coasters. Just kinda going over the big companies and how you tell what company made what ride. But love this vid, good stuff!!!
The easiest way is to look at what type of ride it is (invert, sit down etc) and you'll instantly know that only B&M makes a floorless model for instance, so that floorless over there is a B&M. It's a bit harder with wooden coasters although the trains are a give away there. GCI trains are different to Gravity Group trains and so on
where did you get that RMC top? it looks hot!

Nice! When I go to six flags over Texas Tomorrow I’m gonna say every coaster thoosies slang!
I do Bathroom credits at parks lol. All bathrooms really are different. Some are really nice and clean and then there's some horrible ones
Here’s a credits question. I live near cedar point and have been going for about a decade now. I rode both Mantis and Rougarou, is that two credits or one credit? I can honestly see both ways since it’s the exact same track but it’s experienced in a different way.
And ps I don’t have the same conflict about mean streak/steel vengeance. Those are two credits.
The way I see it, a coaster counts as a new credit if a substantial modification is made to it and its name is changed. A "substantial modification" can be a new train design that changes the ride experience, a significant change to the track layout, a relocation to a different park, or any combination of these. Rougarou got a different train design and a rename, so it's a new credit. Green Lantern at Great Adventure would be a new credit, as it got a relocation and a rename. Hades 360 is a new credit, it got a layout change, different trains, and a rename.
None of these would count as additional credits: Riding Hulk both before and after the reconstruction, riding Medusa at Great Adventure then riding it again as Bizarro, riding Chiller before and after the barrel rolls were removed.
