      Honestly, I think it’s worse. Apple accessories do tend to allow Apple devices to work at their best. Things like their Thunderbolt cables actually perform to specs and don’t have weird gotchas, so you pay, but you get what you paid for, and they will replace it if it doesn’t function as expected and there’s Apple Store to provide reasonable retail service too. Belkin has none of those guarantees.

      @@mhtechbd3954 Your comment was completely rude and unnecessary. It only demonstrates your huge ego and lack of social awareness. I think you completely missed his point. He was comparing the temps of Apple wireless charger to Belkin's wireless charger. With a kickstand, and the angle position of the phone it allows for better ventilation of both the charging plate and the phone. This would theoretically allow better tempts (albeit not significantly lower) compared to the official Apple charger, thus his point is not moot. He was not comparing the temps of wireless charging to wired.

    got the belkin charger. I love it. I was messing around with my friends apple one and then decided to buy one. At the time the apple one was £45 and the belkin one was like £25 so bit of a no brainer. But I do think the belkin one is better for a few reasons. 1.) The cable is longer and is braided so it reaches more places and is better protected probably going to last longer as well. 2.) The base of the magsafe puck is rubber so it doesn't slip around everywhere and finally the kickstand makes the charger a little more useful while being able to dissipate the heat better allowing for faster charging times.

    What sold me is the longer cord. Also braided! I bought the Apple one but the cord is just too short. The slightly faster charging is okay but as long as it charges at a similar speed to the Apple one then I’m happy.
    You kept mentioning that it didn’t have the charging brick as a negative but the Apple one doesn’t come with one either. I have plenty of charging bricks but even if I didn’t this wouldn’t be a negative in the sense of me choosing this one versus the Apple one.

  • @kevinclws
    @kevinclws Před 2 lety +28

    I think it's more accurate to say that the Belkin charges 10% faster than Apple's, as before the Belkin hits 90% the Belkin battery total is consistently 10% higher than Apple. This is great for heavy users, but to help the lithium battery last longer I try to charge it slower and stop at 80%. I wish there was an iPhone (and watch and Mac) setting to stop charging at 80% instead of eventually charging to 100% when I forget to unplug the charger.

    • @GraysonCarr
      @GraysonCarr Před 2 lety +5

      @@technicalactivity It's not a myth, but he did misunderstand the problem somewhat. Fully charging a battery isn't what hurts it... keeping it fully charged for long periods of time is what hurts it. So if you charge your battery to 100% and immediately start using it to bring the level down some, it's not going to hurt it. But if you charge your battery to 100% and then just let it sit at that level all night, that degrades it. That's why some Apple devices now only charge to 80% when you plug them in at night and wait until near morning to charge the last 20% to 100. This is especially important for tablets and laptops that might be turned off and not used for extended periods of time. Never charge your laptop to 100%, turn it off, and then just leave it for days or weeks at a time. If you know you aren't going to use it for a while, just stop charging at 80% before turning it off and putting it away. It will be a lot better for the battery.

  • @FrancoCastro
    @FrancoCastro Před 2 lety +7

    It is going to sound weird, but I prefer to have slow charge. No idea if true but I think slow charger will preserve better your battery. Pretty good. The drawbacks are (1) can't use in a stand as you said; (2) puck is quite thick. Wondering if Belkin has anyting similar (better?) for iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple screwed up on the MagSafe charger. First Apple producted I think they really screwed up. And by that I mean (1) cord is not detachable; (2) short cord length--do they think every USB or outlet is just 5 feet away or less? Why?? Apple has never been good about cord length. With all these options that tend to have drawbacks I am inclined to just buy a MagSafe case or even a regular thin case and keep using my old Qi chargers. Though this product by Belkin comes closer to a good solution than most.

  • @jippalippa
    @jippalippa Před 2 lety +8

    I prefer using the Anker 7.5W as it charges plenty fast but doesn't stress the battery to the same degree.

    I use the Apple MagSafe charger in my car in a stick-on dashboard holder I found on Amazon. It works perfectly! The only thing I wish Apple or some other manufacturer would do is create one with a black cable which matches my car’s interior. And no, coloring the white Apple connector with a sharpie is not satisfactory. Any thoughts on where to get something like this (along with a stick-on holder) in black?

      I just found out that Belkin makes this in black!!! However, like Max says, it’s slightly different shaped, so I need to find some sort of stick-on holder for it for my car…. I’m open to ideas here because it looks great.

Apple 🍎 needs to catch up to the rest of the phone market!

    Hmm… $5 2m MFi lightning cable or $60 2m MagSafe puck 🤔 I don’t really see the appeal for using a MagSafe charger while using the phone as it hinders ergonomics and charges slower than a regular cable. The appeal of qi/MagSafe is that I can charge more easily overnight or on my desk as I do work.
